I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night; Cell's face still flashing through my mind. 'Wow,' I thought, 'what a nightmare.' I took a deep breath and decided that the night air would help my mind. Sneaking out the window I flew aimlessly around until I reached a small island where I felt a strong ki. Thinking I should take a look I hovered close to the ground and searched the island.

Looking around the island I saw a big shady tree and a shadowy figure under it. Purposely stepping on a twig I went closer to the figure.

"Trunks? Is that you?" It spoke. I smiled as I realized it was Gohan.

"Ya, it's just me. What's up? Why are you out here all alone? Gohan swallowed and tried to say something but once again burst out in tears.

"I... ...I ... I don't know I just... " He sat crying and I patted his back and gave him a hug.

"It's your dad isn't it? You miss him right?" he hiccupped and nodded.

"But what do you care?" he sniffed and looked at me "Your father is alive, living, breathing, he isn't dead." and with the last word the choked and water leaked out of his eyes.

"It's ok Gohan" I said calmly. "I know what you mean. If you still remember my father was dead in the future and even now he still doesn't care about me. Just about training and defeating your dad" His tears were stanched so I continued. "Sometimes I wish Goku was my father." He hiccupped once more and suddenly looked up at me.

"Wh.. Wh.. What?" he stuttered.

"You know my dad wouldn't blow off 10 days of training when the world is at stake!" I exclaimed. "He would be training the entire time. But you know I can't change that and you can't change that he doesn't want to be brought back." I simply stated.

Gohan was now sitting up so I hit the tree we were sitting under and two apples fell. I caught both and gave one to Gohan.

"Thanks Trunks" he said softly and took a bite. I nodded and for a minute we ate our apples and looked at the stars for couple of minutes before he spoke again.

"You know what trunks?" He said still looking at the stars.

"What?" I questioned. He looked me in the eyes.

"Did you know you're like a big brother to me?" He looked at me funnily as I started laughing hard.

"What...what..What's so funny?" he asked

In between laughs I managed a few words

"In... my time... you were... at least... ten years... older.. than ... me.. So how?... could I ...be your... older brother?"

Gohan looked at me funny for a moment but suddenly started in on the laughing. The night sky slowly began to fade and so did our laughter. As the sun finally rose I realized that Gohan's head was resting on my lap and he was sleeping.

I picked up Gohan and flew him back to his house. Smiling, I flew through his open window, set him down on his bed, and covered him with a blanket.

Chichi then decided to walk in that moment and almost screamed when she saw me.

"Just please let him rest?" I said in a voice barely above a whisper. She silently nodded and I gave her a small smile. She headed out the door as I sat in his bedroom chair and watched over him as he slept.

'Wow I thought he looked so young when he's sleeping.' I thought to myself.

Gohan soon woke up with an appetite and a smile on his face. If I was not mistaken I could've sworn I could hear Goku whispering to me as I walked out of his bedroom to the front door.

"Thank you Trunks." I smiled and looked at Gohan's beaming face.

"You're welcome" I said to the sky as I flew off back to my ship and to my future. In my mind, an image of Goku smiling just like his son.
