"Is there anything I can do to help?" Tina asked her husband Newt as she watched him dash about the kitchen grabbing an item here and picking up another item there.

"No, Tina," Newt told her. He really wanted to do something special for her and the best thing he could think of was to make her a meal. "I think I've got it handled quite well here. Thank you though."

"If you're sure." Tina picked up the book she'd decided to read earlier in the day. If Newt needed help he knew where to find her. She began to read as the sounds of pots and pans being pulled from cupboards were heard.

Meanwhile in the kitchen Newt was planning out the way he'd cook his meal. He had a specific recipe in mind. One from his childhood that was always a favorite of his and made him think of better times. Filet Mignon with a garlic butter sauce, mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts with bacon. First thing he had to do was peel the potatoes which he went to work on right away. Once they were peeled he put them in the water to boil.

"Now we start on the Filet," he told himself. "What exact spices did mother usually use?" Unaware that he was speaking out loud he was surprised when Queenie's voice answer him.

"Tina said you were cooking her dinner tonight," Queenie told him as she took in his shocked face. "I would suggest using some pepper, salt." She named off a few more spices and they sounded about right to Newt.

"Thank you, Queenie."

"Do you need any help with anything? Before I go off to meet Jacob at the bakery that is."

"I think I've got it. Thank you."

Newt heard Queenie talk to Tina for a little bit while he continued to work on his dinner for tonight. Getting out all the spices that Queenie had told him he patted down the steak and started put the spices on. Once they were on he seared the outside of the steaks before putting them into the oven for the rest of the cook time. Quickly checking the potatoes he saw that they were done. Moving the pot off the heat he was draining the potatoes when he the steam hit him like a ton of bricks scalding his hands. Dropping the potatoes in the sink he almost let loose a curse.

"Are you alright, Newt?" asked Tina in concern from the doorway to the kitchen. She walked over catching the bright redness of Newts hand she walked over to the cabinet above fridge. Opening it she pulled out a vial of something familiar to anyone who has ever dealt with dragons. It was burn cream.

"It's only a little bit of scalding, dear," Newt told her.

"But we don't want it turn into anything worse. Now do we?"

Sighing he allowed her to apply the cream to his red hands and the relief was almost instant. Looking over he saw that most of the potatoes had ended up in the strainer and only few were in the sink. "Thank you, Tina," he told her kissing her nose before going back to work on dinner.

"Are you sure you don't need any help?"

"I'm sure."

The Brussels sprouts were pretty easy for him to handle. It was a simple to saute them in butter with a couple of cloves of garlic and the chopped bacon. Taking them off the heat he took the steak back out of the oven and then put them back on the stove and melting butter and adding a few minced cloves of garlic he began to place the butter garlic sauce over the steak.

"I figured I'd get the table set," Tina told him from the where she was grabbing the place settings. "I figured you'd need a little help with that at least." She raised her eyebrows.

"I do need help with that," Newt told Tina with a smile. "Thank you, Tina."

He began to plate as he watched Tina set the table for their dinner. He hoped that Tina would appreciate all the work he put into this meal. Taking the potatoes and mashing them with a bit of butter, milk, and chives he placed them in a bowl. Moving everything over to the table once it was in a bowl or on a plate he finally felt he could sit down.

"I hope you enjoy," Newt told Tina. "This is one my favorite meals from my childhood."

That night they sat down to a home cooked dinner and chatted about everything under the sun. I'll have to do this more often, Newt thought as he watched Tina smiling as she was telling him about the book she'd been reading.

I hope you all enjoyed Master Chef Newt.
