Who Am I
Who
Am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would
look on me with love and watch me rise again
Who
Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would
call out through the rain
And
calm the storm in me
They stood opposite each other in the attic. Neither of them spoke for what seemed forever. Wyatt towered over the man whom would give up his very life if it meant keeping his family safe. If the younger had his way that may very well happen in the blink of an eye.
"Wyatt, you don't have to do this," Leo said, staring his son in the eyes. How he'd changed. Where had it all gone wrong?
"Dad, please stop fighting me. You don't have any powers. There is nothing you can do to stop me," Wyatt spat back, his long curls falling in his eyes. He looked so menacing with all that hair. It almost broke Leo's heart.
"Don't forget, I gave up my powers to be with you and your mom, brother and sister," Leo commented, still calm. He had faith that his son would not harm him.
"You aren't going to stop me. I'm more powerful than the Charmed Ones," Wyatt growled, biding his time. Killing his father was not an easy task. Leo was his father after all.
"Is that really important son? With all you've done, don't you think people know you have power?" Leo questioned, taking a step closer to his eldest child.
"Stop it! I know what you're trying to do. It won't work," his son spat back, audible panic rising in his voice.
"Wyatt. I've seen you destroy people with a wave of your hand but that doesn't mean I don't love you. You're my son. People make mistakes," Leo began to lecture, pacing.
Wyatt's hands balled into fists. He turned his back on his father, hiding the expression on his face. How could his father be doing this to him? He was more powerful than some mortal.
"I can help you, just let me. Son, you've always been loved, no matter what has happened," he continued, moving closer to Wyatt.
"Shut up," Wyatt gasped, fighting off tears.
"I'm not going to shut up Wyatt. You need to know that you don't have to be like this. You were good once. You can embrace that again," Leo assured him, reaching out and pulling his first born to him, holding him tight. Wyatt struggled to get free but found it increasingly difficult. It seemed as though Leo's embrace was keeping him there.
"Look at me, Wyatt," Leo whispered. Wyatt raised his eyes to meet his father's gaze. In that moment he felt something, an energy pass from his father and into him. He gasped as he felt his body become lighter. His father's embraced slacked as Leo backed up, his eyes wide.
"What? Dad, are you ok?" Wyatt asked.
Wordlessly, Leo found a mirror lying on the ground and held it up for Wyatt to see. Wyatt gasped. His hair was short, his beard gone.
Not because
of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not
because of what I've done
But because of who You
are
"Dad what happened? What did you do?" Wyatt asked, dumbfounded.
"I…I think I saved you," Leo breathed.
"Oh God, what have I done?" Wyatt cried, looking around, seeing all of the destruction he knew he had caused. All the pain and suffering. But how could he remember all of this?
"It will be ok, son. We can do this. I'm going to help you. You're my son. I'll always be here for you," Leo assured him.
And
You've told me who I am
I am Yours
"Thank you, Dad. I…I don't know what I'd do without you," Wyatt murmured, pulling Leo back into a hug.
I
am a flower quickly fading
Here
today and gone tomorrow
A
wave tossed in the ocean
A
vapor in the wind
Still
You hear me when I'm calling
Lord
You catch me when I'm falling
