WHAT WES HAD TO FIGHT FOR

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

This is an idea I got from the scene in "Force From The Future" where Jen was yelling at Wes for treating being a Ranger like it was a game. It showed Trip looking like he had seen a vision and there was a look on his face like he had learned something surprising about Wes, which is where this came from and makes Wes' background a bit AU. Takes place a little after the ep and is in Trip's POV. Power Rangers belongs to Haim Saban and Nickelodeon.

I couldn't believe it when Jen yelled at Wes.

"You've never had to fight for anything in your life," she had told him. But she was wrong. She was wrong and she didn't even know it. I had seen it. I had seen a younger Wes in a real dump of a place crying his eyes out. Then, I had seen him in another house fighting with someone, though I couldn't see who. Wes isn't the spoiled rich boy Jen thinks he is. But something tells me that Wes will never let us know that. You don't have to have special powers to know that some things should remain unsaid. Wes may have the charmed life now, but he didn't when he was a kid. When he was younger, he had had to fight just to survive. I bet Jen can't say that. I wonder what Wes would say if he knew that I knew about him. Would he get mad? I'll probably never know the answer to that, since I'll never let on that I know. It's Wes' place to tell, not mine. Not that I think he will tell us, especially with the way Jen's been treating him. But I'll keep his secret anyway. I'll keep the secret and if he ever decides that he can trust us enough to reveal the truth, I'll just act surprised. Yes, Wes has had to fight for things before. He's had to fight for food, for defense…it's amazing sometimes how much you can see in one vision. It had almost been like a fast movie, the images had been so quick. But Wes will never let on, I'm sure of it. He'll probably just smile and laugh and let everybody think that he's Wesley Collins, son of a millionaire. It's his defense mechanism. He just doesn't want to get hurt again. And Jen had hurt him. I could tell. But he didn't let on, though he certainly let us know that he was confused. So were we, for that matter. Jen told Wes that that he's never had to fight for anything in his life. But she's wrong. She's wrong, but she'll never know that. And I'll help Wes keep his secret, even if he doesn't know that I know.

THE END
