Legends
The stories are all different. No one really knew, even though the answer was right in front of them the entire time. Her name was Katniss. After the Hunger Games, though, she became so much more, even though her true self faded from the public's eyes. The stories said she was born a pearl; lost for thousands of years and preserved throughout the war to be its savior. At last, she was found by a loving man who dreamed of being a father. In a desperate attempt to bring the pearl to life, the man entered the mines. However, he failed, and only the pearl escaped the mine that day. For better or worse, his wife found the small object, thawed the girl out of its crystalline shell, and raised her as her own. Having an unforeseen child of her own on the way, the woman quickly took on the role of a mother. The Pearl Child was named Katniss during the sunset of a dramatic Autumn day. Katniss would prove to be a hero in a wicked world.
When her little sister; the sister who was not born her own, but forged into her life, was entered in the sinister sport known as the Hunger Games, the Pearl Child offered herself as tribute to protect young Prim. Thus, her legacy began. For years, hope was excluded from the area she called her home, but all that would change; District 12 would find glory in the girl. Her morals were pure, her intentions good and just, and her skills...deadly. From the moment she stepped forward into the simulated reality of the Arena, Katniss made allies and enemies. The young and the weak sought refuge with her while the strong hated and attempted to destroyed her. However, the evil ones, and what they tried to take from her, resulted in the display of her darker side; her will to fight back. Her bow and arrow were true and strong, tearing through flesh and bones. Honor was eternally hers.
In the end, only Katniss and her eternal lover were left in the horrid atmosphere. Their choice was simple; only one shall live. However, the Pearl Child was stronger, wiser, and more dedicated to the protection of the innocent than the evil Capital could ever be. In the end, she would once again willingly give her life for another, and the overlords found their superior. It was rumored that after this, the Hunger Games would end, and a brighter future would come from the same sunset that brought Katniss into this world in the first place. Some claim the Pearl Child was a descendant of the Amazons, though she would always be a shining symbol of humanity.
Or so...the legend says...
