Spoilers for Book 10.

Author's Note:

I made up another one! This one makes more sense, but it's a Horace-drabble, didn't wanna place it in my drabble collection since it's a spoiler.

I don't own RA.

Trusted

It was a measure of Horace's trust within Alyss, he thought.

That was one of the few reasons he had summoned the courage to propose to the princess.

Admittedly, he hadn't really thought about anything like that, since he had no idea his friends had been on their way to help. Horace's mind had been far from the thought of proposing.

His conversation with Alyss had changed his perspective, he knew. It wasn't that Horace hadn't thought about it before he arrived at Nihon-Ja, but before he was engaged in a war and betrayal, there had been many reasons in his mind not to propose to Cassandra.

Alyss wasn't one to lie to him, so when she told him that he wouldn't be frowned on for his humble background, he believed her.

It was something to be said about their relationship.

To him, she was a little sister, someone who carried authority but at times in the past, especially as children, he might have treated her unfairly. But now he knew she was a great friend, someone who was there when he needed her. He knew Will was lucky to have her.

It was her reassurance and faith in him that allowed Horace the confidence to ask Cassie to marry him.

Horace was certain, that without Alyss, he wouldn't be as happy as he was now.

Glancing down, with Cassie's form slumped against his own as she slept soundly on the ship, he knew he was right.
