Chapter 11

I ran down the street, my feet smacked against the cool sidewalk. I kept running until I reached the house. A soft yellow light in the living room could be seen behind the curtains. I ran to the door leading into the kitchen. I opened it and didn't bother closing it behind me. I walked through the kitchen and into the door way of the living room where my mom held a small, black duffle bag.

"Mom, I can explain."

"Save it Kaisia, I know where you've been, you snuck out to go to that bon fire with Marissa and Derek. I can smell fire on you." When she said that, I realized she probably smells my burnt pant legs.

"Mom, that's not where I was-"

"I said save it, you're leaving." She got up and handed me the duffle bag.

"What?" I said, suddenly shocked.

"I will no longer have a delinquent in this house hold. Get out." She pointed a figure towards the door. She handed me my phone, I suddenly realized she went through it when I was gone. Anger boiled my blood.

"I don't need you in this house bringing the police to the door every two days. I don't need a daughter getting busted with pot!"

"It's nothing worse than what you do!" I shouted back.

"Get out. Now." She pointed at the door. I walked out the door, slamming it behind me.

After I got outside, I sat on the curb for a few minutes, trying to process everything. In less than 48 hours I was told that I'm responsible for the universe, and I've been kicked out of the house. I went back inside one last time to grab my fish and his food. Then I left. I said goodbye to all my childhood memories.
