She took one last sad glance at her father's tomb

She took one last sad glance at her father's tomb. It was hard to believe that just one month ago he had come with her to place flowers on her mother's tomb. Not knowing that he would soon rest forever in the soft soil he had recently treaded upon. She turned to face her new life a single tear fell from her eyes she walked her head held high to the carriage that would bring her home. She would not allow herself to cry she had not at any time during the funeral, why should she now.

The whip cracked and the carriage rolled off towards this dear girl's home, Hondal Manor. She thought to herself as the manor came into her view. The prince how dare he show his face at the funeral. He was the cause of her father's death. After all he had been masquerading as the prince when he was shot. This thought made the tears she had held the entire day fall at once.

As the carriage came to a stop she opened the door herself and ran to the hall she tripped on the stairs but, before someone could help her up she was running once more. Her foot steps echoed through the halls as she briskly ran to her room. As soon as she reached it she swung the door open and she fell on the bed in tears. Her delicate body shivered as crying subsided. She had run out of tears. She dressed herself in a nightgown and climbed in to her bed. Staring up at the ceiling of her room she thought of what the next day would bring.

Her father's will had left her well off. The only things that she had wanted were left to that idiot of a royal. How she despised him. They where her parents' wedding rings. In a sealed envelope with a letter they had been left. She did not want to give them away but, she would follow as her father would have wanted it. During her childhood she had been found many a times look in to the diamond imbedded in the golden band that had once encircled her mother's slender finger.

Now let us go and look at how this sad story came to be so sad. Mr. Royce worked as a guard for the royal family. He was often out of town and his daughter, Eliza (our dear girl), took care of the house hold. The prince was known often to stumble into Hondal manor whilst trying to escape his many admirers. Back to how all this came to be. Royce was guarding the prince as he came back from visiting an elderly aunt and uncle. They had heard that a band of robbers where near and had come up with a plan. Royce disguised as the prince had hidden in the carriage. The prince was safest if they thought him to be a knight.

That very night the Robbers attacked Royce still in his disguise was shot first. He had been sleeping when the arrow had pierced his stomach. All of the robbers where killed before they went to find Royce. He was barely alive and looked to the silk sheets that now swung open. They where pulled back and the prince entered. His eyes widened and he ran to his dear friend.

"Make…sure….my….daughter…..is….alright…" his voice faint and barely recognizable. The prince could not trust his voice and simply nodded tears falling freely down his face and this scene dear reader is how it all came to be as it is now. How sad for both the prince and Eliza.
