Chapter One

            Rose-Lee Ring stepped off the train and looked at the mass amounts of children and teenagers her age around her. A large man with a burly beard instructed the first year students to come to him. She watched for someone to call the seventh year students.

 This was actually her first year attending Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry; she had been home schooled for the last six years but now her parents were called to Egypt and she had to attend Hogwarts.

"Seventh years please step this way!" a voice called. She turned her head and picked up her bag walking towards the voice. "I know that this is boring and you all know the routine by now but its procedure," the voice belonged to an old woman who wore a tall pointed hat. "Onto the boats please," she walked towards the lake where several boats were sitting.

Rose-Lee migrated with the rest of the students and boarded a boat that was empty. Another girl got in behind her.

"You're new here aren't you?" the girl said.

"Yeah," she replied.

"Thought so. I'm Roberta Rhodes,"

"Rose-Lee Ring,"

"Nice to meet you. Are you transferring here?"

They began to paddle away. "Sort of. My mum and dad home schooled me but now they've been called to Egypt so they sent me here."

"Ah. You'll like it here,"

"I hope so," 

"You will," Roberta reassured.

"Thanks,"

The two rowed in silence as they approached the school. Rose-Lee watched in awe. It seemed to be a large castle that sat on an island. She felt a jab of pain hit her stomach. It was butterflies swirling around. She had never been away from home for more than a month before and now she would be gone for a whole year.

She looked up at the large school as the boat slowly approached...
