"You'll lose you're heart to me I tell you! If I have to…..I have to…..magic spell you!" Nessa threw herself to the ground and before Elphaba could react, began chanting, staggering over pronunciation, her rhythm choppy.
"Nessa no, it's dangerous!" she tried to pull her sister away from the book but Nessa warded her off while Boq began to panic at the notion something was happening aimed at him.
"What! What is she doing?"
Elphaba glanced up at him with a horrified look then continued trying to claim the book on the ground.
"I – I'm warning you!" he pointed the knife uselessly at the Witches direction.
"You're pronouncing the words all wrong!" Elphaba exclaimed to no avail. For a moment she considered giving her sister a good kick in the side that would surely shove her off balance but somehow, she couldn't bring herself to kick her sister – not even in a moment like this. Boq suddenly cried out from across the room and Elphaba screamed at her sister in desperation. Nessa looked up and saw Elphaba staring past her with an expression of horror and anger.
She looked and froze at the sight. "Boq what is it?" she exclaimed.
"My heart!" he cried, clutching is heart as if suffering a heart attack. "It feels like its shrinking!" Nessa couldn't help but to panic, her movements jerky as she grabbed the book and shoved it into her sisters arms.
"Elphaba do something!" she shouted.
"Well no, you can't undo a spell once it's been cast."
"Well then whatever do we do?" she said, her voice rising a number of octaves as Boq groaned and collapsed into the wheelchair. Elphaba jogged over to him, placing the book on his lap and was about to wheel him away when Nessa said:
"This is all you're fault."
Elphaba whirled around. "What?" she said flatly.
"If you hadn't shown me that horrendifull book," she stalked towards her sister with newfound conviction until she came right up to her face. "Then NONE of this would have happened!"
To Nessa's great surprise, Elphaba merely stared back at her, her eyes narrowed in a deadpan expression.
"Go fuck yourself." She turned on her heel and marched out the door, leaving Nessa standing there with her mouth hanging open in astonishment.
