Prologue
❝Everybody knows that everybody dies. It's the only thing guaranteed from the second you're born into this world - some day you will die. Whether in five years or fifty, your time on Earth is limited. There's only one thing known to man that is proven to delay death; medicine. Medicine is the only thing that will give you a chance. So what I propose is that you choose to choose life - beat death, even if it's just for a few years - a few hours. Beat death and choose life.❞ - Doctor Minerva McGonagall
Lily Evans had always been fearless. As a little girl she was always the first to dive into the deep end whatever the situation. She was headstrong and determined at the best of times and the bringer of peace at the worst. But right now Lily Evans was terrified. She had been standing in front of the hospital for almost thirty minutes, her hand gripping the strap of her satchel so tight that her hands had turned an alarming shade of white. St. Mungo's General Hospital loomed above her, one of the finest teaching hospitals in the country and this was where she was starting her career. She never dreamed she would get accepted to the program in the first place yet here she was, standing at the doors that would lead her to her entire career - or rather standing ten feet away from them too terrified to actually work up the courage to go inside.
She had arrived an hour early out of pure eagerness yet here she was now, almost making herself late. It wasn't until someone barged past her that she snapped out of the trance and came to her senses. "Hey!" she called after the man that had shoved past her without so much as an apology. He glanced behind him, as if to acknowledge her annoyance before disappearing into the building without a word. Lily frowned, knowing now she had no choice since she was obviously getting in the way. She made her way towards the doors that led her to her future, pausing to take a deep breath as she reached out for the handle.
"You can do this," she said quietly to herself before stepping through towards what she had been waiting for for years.
Hey guys! It's been a long time since I even tried to write something but I'm super excited about this idea and I've been toying with it for a while. I appreciate it if you leave a comment if you'd like me to continue? This is just a short introduction to get into the flow of things, future updates will be full length chapters. Thanks! - C
