I don't own Twilight.

She can't always be perky

Alice Cullen, the girl who is always happy and cheerful. No, that's not true. Alice is only human.. figuratively. She feels sadness, fear, and pain. One example of this happened not too long ago. Her beloved Jasper was captured by the Volturi. If Edward would have just changed Bella, she thought, then her Jasper would still be here.

Alice hadn't left her room sense Jasper had been taken, which was over a month. No one bothered her after a week, she was unresponsive. She hadn't even gone hunting, but the thirst was nothing compared to her longing for Jasper.

Edward had come to talk to her a lot. One day as he came in, he announced loudly, "We're going to get Jasper. Carlisle said that now is the time. Bella is ready to go. She knows what she's doing now. Are you coming?"

Alice sat up and stared into Edward's eyes intently. Was this just some excuse to get her to leave? No.. Edward wouldn't lie about that. He just wouldn't do that to her.

She sighed and slid off of her bed. "I need to go hunting." Bella slid into Alice's room and put an arm around Alice. "I'll come, Alice. Then we'll leave tonight."

After hunting, they left as Edward had said. Alice sat quietly on the plane, thinking of Jasper and hoping he was okay, still alive. She shuddered at the thought of what they'd been doing to her love.

When they arrived in Italy, they drove quickly to Volterra.

They had no idea what dangers awaited them.
