There was a secret land, hidden away from the rest of the world. This place was lush and green, tropical and always comfortably warm. Wildlife of all kinds roamed the plains and climbed the mountains, swam in the large rivers and deep lakes. This special land was exotic and unlike any other place on Earth. It was a place made of legend, one that nobody outside of the island was aware of. It would be called the Lost City of Atlantis, with all it's wonders and mystical energy, if anybody in the world discover it. But they never would.

And for good reason.

For ten years, Eternity Mikaelson had been living a life of happiness and peace on the remote island in the most distance part of the world. She had spent her time helping the local villagers with her extraordinary wonders, such as healing the sick and helping to keep their crops plentiful, their waters clean.

They called her a goddess, because of her powers in addition to the fact they were under her watchful eye like a being of the highest order, but she was anything but divine. No, she was a simple immortal whom took it upon herself to watch over and protect others, especially those whom could not defend themselves. An instinct she had long forgotten until she had come to the island.

Eternity was a shimmering, otherworldly woman with pale skin and long white hair that nearly reached her ankles and rippled around her like ocean waves. She had sapphire eyes full of ancient wisdom and plush pink rose lips. She was small and childlike, unassuming for being able to achieve great feats, but she was fierce and mighty. Traits she had also forgotten about until a decade ago.

Yet, while she did find happiness and peace helping the people, she found was also still full of great sorrow and an even greater pain from a past she would rather forget. In fact, she had to always shake herself of even beginning that trek down memory lane, choosing to not even let it in. She didn't want to remember the past. She didn't want it to even exist.

Instead, the immortal would shift her form into her basest self; the strange white beast of mythical legend and run far, fast, until the memories ceased to give chase. The unicorn would go and go and go some more, through the forests and fields of the tropical island. Her presence turning everything around her to Springtime as she went, no matter what the current season was - a natural phenomenon of her kind. The land around her came to life in this version of herself.

As a woman, Eternity lived quietly just outside the local network of villages, in a humble abode that was hidden and unseen by anyone. It was a simple safety measure, to keep her from being found, just as how she had cloaked the entire island to further keep her secret whereabouts hidden from the rest of the world.

There was a monster out there hunting her, trying to find her, just so that she could be punished for the shame and embarrassment she inflicted no doubt. Simply remembering those dark, unfeeling chocolate eyes made Eternity shiver unpleasantly, as she worked the afternoon away in one of the villages, greeting the humans she passed along the way.

She couldn't let him find her, no matter what it took to keep him from her. He must never find her location or else all would surely be lost.

"You look to be miles away, my friend," called Kyoko, Eternity's human friend, in her native tongue of Japanese."Are we thinking on the past again?"

The ethereal beauty smiled at her friend as they busied themselves with gathering supplies for the villagers. Kyoko was from Japan, but had lived on the recluse islands to the south of the mainland for many years, where the people were farmers and herders. She helped them grow their food and provided medical care, at least she did before Eternity had started coming around. They had become fast friends; mostly because Kyoko didn't treat her like the otherworldly being she was, but as an ordinary person, whom happened to have extraordinary powers.

Eternity had never told her human companion about her past, at least not in great detail. She had chosen to keep her history vague as to not worry the kind woman, who looked after her as much as she did everyone else. Instead, she simply told her there were things in her past that she needed a break from and so had come to the island to aid those in need as a way to reevaluate her life's path. Yet, the human still suspected there was something troubling about her past she wouldn't fess up to, but had chosen not to linger on it.

"No," Eternity replied. "I do my best not to dwell on the past, Kyoko, but to look to the future. You know that."

"Hai, I do, but you still grow distant sometimes, when you think nobody is looking," her friend replied, knowingly. "Yet, I notice. I always notice."

The immortal rolled her eyes in a very human fashion and grinned at the actual human, but said nothing more. Instead, she continued her task of lifting heavy crates of picked fruits effortlessly, despite them weight tons, and moving them around to the different doorsteps of the village households.

As always, Kyoko watched as she did this with amazement. "It never gets old to see you lift heavy shit so effortlessly," she quipped. "You're like that American superhero...Wonder Woman or something."

Eternity only laughed.

A few days later, the ethereal woman had spent her time helping the villagers plant their new crops with her trusty human companion by her side. The two women worked hard beside the natives of the island, to ensure that they would have enough food to feed themselves and to ship out to mainland Japan in a secret trade with the island nation. This trade was how the villagers got the supplies that they couldn't grow or make themselves. As they shipped out food to Japan, the nation sent back medicine and clothes and forms of entertainment to the natives.

Eternity and Kyoko helped make sure that this trade went off without a hitch, aiding the island people every day in their tasks to make sure their crops grew healthy. It helped that the immortal had powers to aid in the impeccable growth of the various foods that the natives would send away. This made it possible for the farmers to grow crops quickly and repeatedly, one after another, in a consistent cycle of planting, instantaneously growing, picking, and shipping. All thanks to Eternity and her natural magical gifts.

Because of this routine, the day, like all the others, went by fast from the manual labor the immortal and her human friend achieved. As the sun began to set behind the horizon, Eternity and Kyoko wrapped up their work in preparation for a restful evening.

"We should go for drinks tonight," the human said to her.

"Should we now? You know your human alcohol does nothing for me," she replied good-naturedly.

Kyoko shrugged with a grin, "Hai, that is true. Yet, it isn't about the booze as much as it is about the company."

Both women laughed then, but the human's was abruptly cut short.

When Eternity noticed the way her friend's dark eyes went wide and her mouth fell open in silent fear, she naturally went on alert, a fear of her own boiling up inside her. It ran down her spine in unpleasant shivers with every instinct screaming at her to flee.

Yet, she refused to do so. Therefore, she slowly and protectively turned to face the threat, completely unsurprised to see him standing there, feet away - Elijah!

Elijah Mikaelson was Eternity's husband. He was also the monster of which she had been running away from for ten years ago. At first glance, he didn't seem like a monster as he was well dressed, always impeccably so in an expensive suit, usually a three piece; though at the moment he was dressed slightly more casually. He was still in a costly suit, one of a dark navy color with a white shirt that had the first couple of buttons undone at the collar and without a tie or waistcoat. He also still wore brown leather dress boots of the highest quality to complete the rich man's look.

Aside from his wealthy taste, he husband was a handsome man with dark brown eyes and short brown hair. He was tall and muscular beneath his perfectly tailored suit. He had angular features with high cheekbones, a string jawline, and a straight nose. His lips were pouty with a five o' clock shadow surrounding them and spreading out across his jaw.

Elijah stood tall with an intimidatingly confident stance. He kept one hand in his pants pocket while the other hung loosely at his side. He had a small menacing smile upon his lips and his eyes were narrowed as he stared at Eternity, sending more unpleasant chills down her spine.

"Elijah," she breathed, unable to say it do anything else.

The cold smile grew and she watched as he slowly moved closer. She made sure to stand between him and Kyoko, whom seemed to be just as frozen as she was. If he dared to touch her friend, Eternity wouldn't hesitate to do whatever it took to keep her safe.

Her husband walked forward until he was only a couple feet away from her, seemingly uninterested in the human she was protecting. "Hello Sweetheart," he said in that accented baritone that had once made her swoon, but only increased her apprehension now.

"What are you doing here?" Eternity growled defensively, finding the courage to stand strong despite her fears. He didn't have to answer her as she already knew what it was, but she had made the demand anyway.

He knew it too. It was obvious in his amused expression. Yet, Elijah replied all the same, "Why, my darling Eternity, I think you know. I believe we are quite overdue for a little chat, yes?"

Eternity swallowed thickly and murmured, "Go to hell."

"Oh, Sweetheart," Elijah responded with ease, "that is exactly where you are going, I'm afraid. Either you come with me willing and without issue or else I will burn this entire island to the ground and take you anyway. Those are your choices, so I suggest you choose wisely."

The ethereal woman felt Kyoko grab hold of her arm in her own fear, worried about the threat that this dangerous man posed. Yet, she didn't dare to gaze back at the mortal, unable to break her gaze away from Elijah whom looked back at her with absolute smugness, as if he knew he had a already won.

Eternity wanted to be stubborn and test his threat's validity, but with one shaky squeeze on her arm from Kyoko, she deflated. She had to protect the islanders and especially her friend at all costs. "Leave these people alone and I will go with you," she sighed, speaking in quiet voice, "but you must give me your word they will remain unharmed or else I'm not going anywhere with you."

Elijah would never go back on his word and Eternity knew that. She used that fact to her advantage, seeing it was the only way to ensure the safety of those she cared about. If he gave his word that he wouldn't harm Kyoko or the villagers, then they would be protected from all harm.

His eyes narrowed and his jaw tightened in irritation, but he casually replied, "You have my word that these people will remain untouched, if you willingly come with me."

Eternity sighed again in defeat and gave a curt nod, "Fine."

"Eternity," Kyoko called behind her worriedly.

The white-haired woman turned and smiled reassuringly at the human. "Do not worry, my friend," she said. "I'll be alright and so will you, along with the villagers. I'll return to you as soon as I can, I promise."

The mortal female nodded to her, though her eyes kept shifting around her up stare at Elijah fearfully. Then she gripped Eternity by both arms tightly and whispered, "Please be safe."

"I will."

With that, the two friends parted ways, as Eternity moved to Elijah's side reluctantly. He smiled politely to the human woman, before it turned maliciously upon her. "Come, Sweetheart. Let us part for better lands," he said, holding out his hand to her.

Eternity said nothing nor did she take his outstretched hand. She might have to go with him, but she didn't have to be cordial about it. He noticed this act of defiance, but said nothing about it, letting his hand fal, to his side.

From there, Elijah lead her away from her peace. All the while, Eternity could only think about how instantaneously the nightmare she had tried to escape had returned, descending all around her, taking her happiness and freedom away.
