Another day in London and another day at Baker St. Things however will never be the same. Sherlock Holmes adopting a young child became big news. Sara Holmes was enrolled into St. Joan's Primary School. The enviorment inviting, but she almost never talked. Being constantly picked at for being quiet and being the kid of the famous detective being the main reasons.
After another what seemed tedious day, she walked back home with a sigh before another kid bumped into her upon getting back to Baker St. Sara rubbed her shoulder, giving a light glare to the girl "Watch it" She warned, going through the door.
"I'm so sorry! I never meant to-" The girl pleaded. Sara turned around, putting her hand up to have her stop talking "It's okay. Are you moving in?" Sara asked.
"Huh? Oh yea! My Mom and I are from America you see. London is great so far" The girl gave a grin "I'm Ella Ortiz by the way" She introduced.
"Sara Holmes, nice to meet you. I have homework to do. So... see you around?" She asked, going up the stairs. Ella nodded "Yea. I'll talk to you later" She waved.
"Ella! Come help me with these please!" Her mother, Ana shouted from outside. Ella looked back at Sara for another brief moment before running outside"Yes Mama!"
Meanwhile, Sara went back to 221B, her new home. She put her bag down neatly by the door and took off her jacket, struggling to place it on the rack "Dad, John? You home?" She looked around, not hearing anything. Sara huffed out a sigh, walking to the kitchen and saw a note.
Dear Sara, Sherlock and I are on a case. We won't be home until later. Dinner is in the fridge as is lunch for tomorrow. We'll see you soon.
-John
Sara frowned, putting the note in the trash bin. She grabbed her bag and went back to the kitchen to do her homework for school. Hours passed and Sara saw a bowl of what looked like soup in the fridge. She used the step stool to place it in microwave; only to be repulsed by the jar of eyeballs inside. Sara gagged and shook her head. Sherlock always had a rule of not touching his expierments, but once couldn't hurt right? She took out the jar carefully, going down the small steps. She looked for a place where she could place them. She yelped as the door knocked and dropped the jar as it shattered.
"Opps..." she gulped nervously and started to attempt to clean up the mess. Mrs. Hudson opened the door "Hello? Sara? Is everything alright? Need help wi-" She asked and walked to the kitchen only to find the scene in front of her "Oh dear. What happened?" She asked.
"I removed the jar from the microwave to put the soup in and then you knocked and I got startled... this happened. I'm sorry! It was an accident! I never meant to do it. Dad's going to be mad, won't he?" Sara asked shyly.
"Once Sherlock has his tantrum and mopes, then he'll be okay. Hopefully that's all that happens. Accidents happen Sara and Sherlock knows that full well. Now if only he could process human emotions like everyone else" Mrs. Hudson sighed quietly "Now let me get a broom and dustpan while you clean up the liquid" She ran off quickly only to return a few minutes later.
"I'm really sorry again Mrs. Hudson" Sara apologized.
"It's quite alright. Now get changed and cleaned up, I'll reheat the soup for you. Just ask for help next time ok?" Mrs. Hudson replied and Sara nodded happily.
Later that night, Sherlock returned with John. Sherlock didn't seem to be in too great of a mood "Well if it really it was going to be Mrs. Salenger's cat John, the case would've been solved hours ago" He groaned quietly, sitting in his chair.
"Does something smell a bit funny to you?" John asked.
"Maybe more Fomaldehyde than usual, but not really. Maybe some good news today from my expieriment" Sherlock dashed to the kitchen. He opened the microwave to find it not there. He sighed and shook his head.
"Alright... where did Mrs. Hudson hide it this time?" He muttered and started pacing it around the kitchen.
"Sara? Mind coming out for a minute?" Sherlock asked politely as she came out of the bathroom.
"Have you seen a jar filled with eyeballs?" He crouched down.
"I did... I accidently shattered it after I got startled from a knock at the door. I wanted to make soup that was in the fridge. I tried to be careful with it. I really did. I'm sorry" Sara explained to Sherlock, looking at the floor. Sherlock sighed and shook his head. Although he didn't process human emotion well, he still was improving on understanding them.
"It's ok, accidents happen. Just don't do it again ok?" He asked.
"Wait, you're not mad?" Sara questioned.
"I may be annoyed, but not mad. Why would I be? Was school at least good?" Sherlock replied.
"It was ok, those kids still keep picking on me. I tried to tell the counselor, but they haven't done anything" She replied sadly.
"I'll make an appointment with the headmaster this week to discuss this issue. Ok?" He said quietly as he stood "Now off to bed! Need to be ready for tomorrow" He told her as she ran off.
"You handled that shockingly well. Figured you'd get mad. You hate it when people touch your " John chuckled quietly.
"It was an accident John. I'm not the type to yell at a child for a mistake" He shrugged.
"I'm telling you, Sara is changing you for the better. Since she stumbled into our lives, you've changed greatly" John smiled.
"Don't be daft John. I haven't changed that much" Sherlock rolled his eyes.
John sighed "You changed Sara's life by adopting her. She's returning the favor as best she can. You're just too blind to see it"
"Good Night John" He stood and rolled his eyes, going to his room.
