Feet shuffling over the rocks, a silhouette moved over the pathway to a deserted forest in slow, cautious steps. A baggy, white t-shirt with the navy ninja pants covered the toned body of Naruto, his blond hair messier than usual. Baby blue eyes led him through the rocky path, but he was focused on other things.
Earlier that day, he had found a note slipped underneath his apartment door. Looking around to make sure nobody was reading it with him, Naruto picked it up.
N a r u t o, meet me in the forest west of Konoha at sunset. There was no name to tell whom it was from.Somewhat confused, he decided to do as he was told.
Arriving in the peachy glow of dusk, his head twisted and turned to try and spot a figure, but he couldn't see anything but forest. Sitting on a bench alone, Naruto waited for several minutes. The occasional rustle of leaves in the wind caught of boy's attention, but he ignored it for the most part. The sun went down behind the horizon, and still, nobody appeared. He became impatient, glaring from bush to bush while his mind went wild.
Without Naruto noticing, a girl sat down on a bench beside him, navy hair rustled over her porcelain skin and gray, pupil-less eyes. She was deep in thought about her self-given mission this morning. Her palms ran with sweat, and she was shaking profusely. The mission she had that morning? Of course she was the one who left the note for Naruto. Of course she had written the note and everything to her long-time crush. Hyuuga Hinata had been planning this for weeks, and she finally pulled off bringing him here…
Turning and finally seeing the girl seated beside himself, he grinned. "Hello, Hinata-chan!" He said, making her jump. His eyes still looked around for another person, who wanted to meet him here? The girl's eyes looked to the ground, her face a deep shade of magenta. The beige sweater fell loosely around her profusely shaking body, and she bit her lip until it bled softly. "Someone left me this note telling me to meet them here… But that idiot that sent it to me didn't come!" He punched his own fist threateningly, his cerulean eyes almost glowing in the non-light.
She looked away to hide her anxiety, now was her time! "Well… N-Naruto-kun…" She twiddled her fingers to calm herself, " I-I know who gave it to you." The Hyuuga ignored as much of the blonde's stares as she could, "I-I…"
Uzumaki Naruto leapt into the air with happiness, "Who did it?!" He yelled with anticipation, grinning from ear to ear. The white t-shirt was quite dirty from the dust he raised.
"W-Well… I did it." A drop of red liquid fell from the cut on her pale lips, and Hinata slowly closed her eyes. This moment scared her more than anything she had ever done, including the battle against Neji-nii in the Chuunin exams. "I… I like you. I like you a lot."
Idiotically, he stopped to stare. "W-What?" He could barely speak, what was going on? "You do?" Naruto could feel his knees go weak, and his stomach groaned with excitement. Now that he thought about it, he could tell how much she liked him over the time in the Academy or on Konoha… The way she blushed when he came near, her twiddling of her fingers, the stuttering… After a moment more of thought, he understood. "Well, Hinata-chan, I like you too!" He sat down beside her again, wrapping his toned arm around her shaking shoulders.
"Thank you… Naruto-kun."
