Ever since Katerina and Kaidan both retired from the line of fire, Kaidan went in search of a new job that didn't involve him coming home with more scars on his body. There were that many he just gave up counting months ago as they just continued to pile. After months on months of looking through the extranet and papers there was an oppotunity that found itself right at their doorstep.

Both of their names had been tossed around a nearby business company who worked close with the recruits who after the war found it hard to forget their pasts after how much death they saw of a fellow comrade or a close friend so this company was designed to be there for the soldiers to help them relieve themselves of their past lives and to be able to talk about it without the feeling of suvivors guilt. Because of their efforts in the war the company had offered a place to Kaidan to which he full heartedly accepted. He knew of how the soldiers must have felt as he felt it long ago after loosing Katerina in the Normandy attack.

There were a few arguments here and there but after much thought, they both agreed that he was the right man for the job. The next day Kaidan was already off on his new adventure which needed him on Palavin. Hhe said his goodbye's to his loving family before shipping out on the next avaliable flight out there to his first client, a Turian who served in the Turian artillery unit. His backstory was one of the many Kaidan heard back on the field. His brother got shot down on the attack run against the Reaper which was blocking the Shroud facility back on Tuchanka. His body was found days later after the war had finally been defeated and was given off a military send off before he was laid to rest on their home planet.

The job never got much easier as the cases got harder and harder to deal with. One of the cases he delt with was found dead in his own apartment, stabbed to the right side of his body and through to the back of his body. Kaidan had recieved the news as he was already on the train to the next contact within the Citadel. Hours passed as more information was coming through on the male human back on Mars as Kaidan looked to the reports, sighing.. feeling like it was his fault for not doing enough for him.

Reaching into his right back pocket, Kaidan pulled out a folded piece of paper. His hands worked on opening it up as a small smile came to his face as he looked at the picture of his Fiancee, Katerina Shepard. No matter where he went he always carried a picture of her close to his posession for circumstances such as this and feeling alone and home sick. His thumb trailed across the photo as he closed his eyes and pictured her there standing in front of him with her loving smile and soft touch of her skin on his. They were both to be wed in 7 days from now and he wasn't going to miss that for the world.

He looked out through the side window to see the beautiful countryside of the nearby town. It reminded him of their home back on Vancouver. The sun, the fresh sea air and the clear night sky in the night when they would watch the stars and pick out all the different images the stars made up in the dark blue sky. He missed her so much as he looked back to the image in his hand, wishing he was back there with her.

Day soon turned to night as Kaidan was given his own side car for somewhere to sleep. Taking off just his shirt he climbed into the bed provided and took one last look at the picture before kissing her goodnight in his mind and alowing his eyes to close. Someday he would be by her side again to make up for lost time.. the nights he spent without her by his side.
