"It's Harry Clearwater. Harry had a heart attack this morning."

"Harry?" I shook my head, trying to absorb what he was saying. "Oh, no! Does Charlie know?"

"No we don't think so, we called his house five times but there was no answer." My heart sank, and the nausea began churning in my stomach threatening to surface!

"What? But he was supposed to be home!"My voice rising an octave.

"Yeah we thought it was weird too, but we wanted to make sure you and Harry were ok first."

"Well is he?"

"No" Jacob choked out "He's gone."

I looked up at him, tears welling up in my eyes, Leah was only a year older than me and Seth was barely fifteen!

"That's horrible!" I cried

"I know, but we need to get you home."

I nodded and let him pick me up again and carry me to my truck, we drove home in silence.

We pulled into Charlie's drive and I looked up at Jacob, he was looking away so I opened the door wordlessly.

"Stop!" Jacob shouted and he reached across me to close the half-open door.

I looked at him in confusion as he started the car again "Vampire" He spat.

"How do you know?"

"I can smell it damit!"

I gasped and looked around and a glint near the fringe of the trees caught my eye.

"No, stop! It's Carlisle's car! You have to take me back!"

"If a Cullen is back this is their territory, I can't be here to protect you!"

"They won't hurt me" I was confident.

I opened the door again and jumped out, and started towards the house.

A warm hand grabbed my shoulder, "Bella" He whispered looking at me, his hand was trembling on my shoulder.

"I'm sorry Jake, I can't" I said shrugging his hand off.

"I've done it again haven't I? I keep breaking my promise!"He started backing into the forest.

"Jake" I whispered.

He turned and jogged out of sight.

I turned towards the house, was it a trap? No, I knew that car.

Still, my hands were shaking even worse that before as I reached for the key above the door. When I grabbed the doorknob to unlock it, it twisted easily under my hand. I let the door fall open. The hallway was black, I fumbled for the switch but my fingers only encountered cold, smooth wall.

A horrible smell reached my nose and my stomach squirmed as it recognised the stench of rust and salt. My fingers froze in their quest to find light.

I stumbled in my hast to get to the doors to the living room, when I got there I threw them open and stepped into the cold room.

Something hard and cold pushed me from behind onto the couch, I felt something limp and broken underneath me. I raised my hand to my face and felt another wave of nausea roll over me as the wet blood that wasn't mine dripped down my arm.

Something sharp sliced into my neck and my screams were cut off by unconsciousness...
