"This was nice," Audrey says as she and Matt finish drying the last dish.

"It was," he agrees, and follows her outside where she settles on one of the benches that adorn the front porch.

They sit in comfortable silence for a while, both thinking over the day. They'd all made a plan to meet and celebrate Christmas—even though the real Christmas was over two weeks ago. They all felt it was important that they come together and find someway to enjoy themselves. With all the pain and hardship they'd faced over the last year it was a great relief to share a meal with what they now considered to be their family.

Matt sighs and Audrey turns to look at him, "Hey, you okay?"

He shrugs, "Just….you were thinking that this is our family now."

She's so used to him hearing her thoughts by now that it barely even fazes her, "Were you thinking about Janice?"

"No, that's the problem. When you were thinking that….I just realized that I haven't thought about her in a long time. It's my first Christmas without her and….I don't miss her. Everything's been so crazy that….I fell out of love with my wife somewhere along the way and didn't even notice it."

Audrey leans forward and puts a hand on his shoulder, "I'm sorry Matt."

He nods, then gets to his feet, "Thanks, Aud, let's go inside. We're supposed to be celebrating."

She nods and follows him in through the door when suddenly she hears Claire's voice,

"Hey guys, look up." They both look and see the mistletoe Claire had stuck there when they decorated this afternoon, "It's tradition," she reminds them when they look unsure.

Audrey shrugs and looks up at him, "Tradition."

He nods and leans down, his lips brushing lightly against hers. It's a short, sweet kiss, barely even a kiss at all except for the short burst of energy that swept through both of them when their lips touched.

Audrey pulls back first and Matt gives her a little smirk, "Merry Christmas Audrey."

"Merry Christmas," she responds and leans into him the tiniest bit as they join everyone else.
