Hello! Welcome to my first ever Black Panther fanfic. This is just going to be a fluffy thing involving Shuri (My precious angel bean) and an OC my friend and I have developed to be her girlfriend because neither one of us think Shuri is straight... So if you disagree with that, then you don't gotta read it. Okay, that was harsh, but whatever.
Four years ago
A twelve-year-old girl sat on the swing outside of the Wakandan palace. Her micro-braids were pinned up into two twin buns on the top of her head, and her sharp, dark eyes scanned the paged of a college-level textbook on Quantum Physics. Already her mind was racing with ways that she could potentially include this science into her own designs.
Flowers surrounded her in bursts of bright colors and sweet, floral scents, and birds chipped overhead; singing a soft melody to the young princess.
"Binti Yangu," A familiar voice pulled her away from her studies, and she looked up to see her father trekking through the Royal gardens. A young girl around her age and the Mining Tribe elder following him.
"Yes, Baba?" She asked, curiously looking over the girl. She had long, dark brown box braids with redish-orange beads at the ends, and her honey-brown eyes scanned the area almost cautiously. The Princess noticed that she was dressed in a rather modest dress, with a skirt that hit her below the knee and three-quarter sleeves. Her sneakers had smears of dried mud on them.
"This is Farai," King T'Chaka introduced, holding his hand out to the other girl. "I was hoping that she could stay with you while your grandmother is in the Council meeting. She has an interest in science as you do, so perhaps you could show her your lab."
Upon hearing this, a grin washed over Shuri's lips. There were not many children her age in the villages that shared the same amount of love towards science that she did, so meeting somebody like that was exciting to her. "Of course," she said, marking her spot in her book and hopping down from the swing. "Come on, Farai!"
Farai followed Shuri into the palace, where one of the many Dora Milaje took them to the labs. The trip in the jet was short, and they soon arrive on Mount Bashenga, where the Wakandan labs were built directly into the Vibranium mines.
"This is amazing!" She whispered in awe, looking around at all the scientists bustled around, developing new tech and weapons. Then she gasped, running to the large window with the view of the mining being done below around them. "The Maglev!" She exclaimed. Sure, the villages had their own vehicles that ran with magnetic levitation, but none of them went at such a speed as the ones in the mines. "Those panels are the sonic stabilizers, right?" She asked.
Shuri nodded.
"Wow! I read all sorts of articles when you first developed them. They are amazing!"
The Princess grinned. "Thanks. Most of the kids in the village don't care about it."
"Consider me different, Princess."
"Obviously," Shuri said, now smiling wider now. "I think we're going to be best friends."
