Yes, I realize that I am on a hiatus. Thank you for noticing :). This is my last post until the fifteenth of June. Thank you to all of my faithful (and beloved new) readers for your patience!
This strays from the usual things I post and write, but I got some inspiration for some practice with writing and this sounded like such a fun one to do. And that it was. We all need an UwU story sometimes anyway.
So these characters are two of my OCs inspired by characters and plot line from some of the original books and short stories that a few friends and I are writing right now, so this technically is fanfiction ;D.
The soft pitter-patter of the rain on the tense asphalt echoed all around, blanketing the land all around them. A criminal, for lack of better words, waved his weak white flag dipped in blood as he laid on the concrete, lifeless for all to observe. Not a tear streaked his face. None of pity for himself or what he had done to finally be brought to an end in the blink of a bloodshot eye.
His pronounced love laid directly beside him, dead as he. Her hand was encased tenderly in his, although it seemed too tight for comfort to the naked eye. Both of them were sprawled out, blood slowly pooling beneath them. The rain diluted the red substance that even abandoned them to die themselves, rather than to be a part of the monsters that they had served previously.
Alita made her way over to them, barely strong enough to form her wings from the pure sun energy that she had been gifted the power to harness. Her once-white, bloodstained hair dampened with every drop as the rain fainted from the sky in heavier and heavier multitudes.
Alita, also known as Chromia when she was engaged in battle or posing as the hero she never could accept that she had to be, began to create her own rain. The saline that leaked from her golden eyes wasn't in pain from her shattered knee or battered body. It wasn't of loss of her family or friends. It wasn't even from the fear or adrenaline.
It was for them. Chromia fell to her knees, crying out slightly, yet without regret. She shifted the young woman's jet black and artificial purple long hair behind her ear and shut her eyes gingerly. With great care, she shifted the woman's loose arm and cupped that hand over her newly dyed blouse.
She then shifted to the other, the young lady's love, shedding more than just a few more tears. Alita felt grief for them. Not because she felt some special connection to them, nor should she have. They had killed thousands without mercy or second thought, but they had felt love and would have done anything for each other.
The young Sun Hero gently shut his possessed eyes and cupped his free hand over his chest carefully, as to not disturb more than what had been done. "It could've been us-" she realized.
Rubble was carelessly tossed every which way as far as the eye could pierce. A tornado couldn't have even done what had been done.
A hand graced Alita's head, ruffling her hair and causing her to stiffen. She quickly dried her face in an invalid attempt to hide her sadness. For they truly had arisen victorious after all.
"Alita," a soft and smooth voice spoke through the downpour. Alita arose quickly with complete and utter abandon for her safety or the upset of her injury. She knew good and well who it was.
"Hiro," her voice broke, even though she willed it not. He wrapped her in the tightest hug he had ever wrapped her in, as if he hadn't seen her in a full, sluggish three weeks. She hugged him back in a vain attempt to squeeze him tighter. "We did it."
"We sure did, my love." He kissed her neck curtly and they finally pulled away after what seemed like an eternity. Hiro's height became more evident as he stepped away from the now slightly glowing Alita.
In his eyes, she wasn't Chromia. She wasn't some Sun Hero with an alternate persona and new name to him. She was his Alita. His love. They just happened to save the world together with their crazy awesome teamwork skills and a "little" help from their powers.
In her eyes, he wasn't Aerglo, He wasn't some insane strong guy with seemingly no brains (accept she thought he was the smartest guy in the world, even though she couldn't admit it). He wasn't some savior who had to put the world on his shoulders all by himself. He was her Hiro. Her true hero. Her love. They really did just happen to save the world on a seemingly daily basis with some crazy awesome teamwork skills, again, just a "little" help from their powers, and a whole lot of help from their love.
For the first time, since she was totally timid even about the subject, she surprised him with something he had never expected-well, he had expected it at some point, but not the first leap from her. She pulled him in for a kiss, by the shirt collar and all. His complete shock won over at first, but it melted away into the moment.
The rain continued to fall, but subsided just a bit in the instant. With soaked uniforms and dripping hair, they shared their first kiss. One with a shattered knee and the other with a broken wrist and nose.
Did it stop them?
No. No it did not.
And neither did the rain. And evidently, the rain didn't stop the onlookers either. During the past fight, many people had retreated to the shadows and surrounding houses for safety, and upon detecting the quieted streets, decided to reemerge. Did it stop the two lovestruck, starcrossed heroes?
No. No it sure did not.
Pain wasn't even imminent for the few seconds as their moment came to an agonizing end.
"I'll always love you, Alita."
"I'll always love you more, Hiro."
"And I'll always love you most." They voiced at the same time.
With perfect timing shortly following thereafter, the media pulled up and requested to take their picture. Hiro pulled her close and placed his forehead against hers and smiled into her eyes, boring into her gold rushed with his baby blues.
"I guess we do just happen to save the world, have crazy powers, and be crazy in love, don't we?"
"I suppose we do," and with that, they embraced once more, basking in the new glory of a clearing up sky, clearing up future, and a colorful rainbow.
Please leave a short review, it would mean the world to me. But if you don't want to, I sincerely hope you at least got a smile or a joyful thought from this. That is always my goal. Have a happy rest of your week. I'll see you all soon :)
