I wrote this a while ago when I was in a somewhat poetic mood, this will remain a oneshot, enjoy :)

ROSE OF VERSAILLES BELONGS TO RIYOKO IKEDA.

Never caring, never fearing, never knowing.

This was the life of an Archduchess. Too young for what the fates had prepared for her.

On alert, on guard, on duty.

This was the life of a soldier, sworn to protect the naïve bride.

Two lives, so different, yet intertwined so closely.

They called her the Rose of Versailles.

They called her the Soldier of Ice.

One's heart bled for lost love until the petals were stained.

One's heart froze over with shock and the petals were coated with winter's finest colour.

Their worlds lived harmoniously alongside each other until they no longer could.

The red rose bloomed under love and adoration.

Growing day by day, year after year, knowing but not caring for the worsening health of the stems. Until it was too late.

The white rose weathered each storm that came its way.

Despite its resilience to the cold hard reality of bitter disappointment, it was swept away with the fiery passion of the nation.

The flower of love and passion would be on the lips of every living soul for generations to come.

The flower of strength and determination, forgotten, along with all the other unnamed citizens who died in hopes for a better future.

Such is the life and story of Marie Antoinette and Oscar Francois de Jarjayes.

The last Queen of France - a life known by most, but understood by little.

And her dearest bodyguard turned friend, whose heart remained true and pure until the very end.

To the end, which they wished the very same; Vive la France

I didn't even intend for this to be published on Bastille Day but I stalled long enough in posting it so why not. Seems like the 14 July is always the time for me to post a new RoV piece lol.

This title was kind of inspired by Philippa Gregory's the cousins' war (war of the roses) series where the red rose and white rose played great symbolic roles. I just really liked the sound of it and was also inspired by that part in the anime opening song where the white rose turns red.

Please leave a review if you did enjoy this and such kind words are always deeply treasured by me :))
