Jackson is my original character, but I don't own CSI or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Since this year is Rudolph's 50th anniversary, and it's one of my favorite holiday specials, I thought it would be cool for Jackson to enjoy it as well. Hope you all enjoy...and happy holidays!
"Jacks, come on!" Greg called through the house. "It's almost on!"
Like many children, Jackson Sanders loved Christmas. And one of his favorite specials was Rudolph. So Greg and Morgan warmed up some hot chocolate and called Jackson into the living room.
The little boy happy climbed on the couch and his dog Scruffy sat next to him. "Scruffy, you gunna like Rudolph," Jackson said. "He cool!"
Morgan and Greg smiled as they sat down to enjoy the special with their son. Morgan passed Greg and Jackson their mugs of hot chocolate, and Scruffy whined softly.
"Scruffy, dis will give you a tummy ache," Jackson said.
"I've got him a treat," Morgan said as she gave the dog one of his favorite treats. Scruffy happily ate it and snuggled with his family.
Jackson sang along with Sam the Snowman. "Rudolph, da red-nosed reindeer..."
Greg smiled as Jackson sang along and watched the show. "Jacks, this was always one of my favorites."
"I love Rudolph," Jackson said as he sipped his hot chocolate. "Even if he got a red nose, he still cute!"
Morgan and Greg smiled. "He sure is," Morgan said.
Jackson watched as Rudolph met Clarice. "She nice," he said. "I like how she sings to him. Jus' like when mama sings to me!"
Morgan smiled at her sweet son. "You like it when I sing to you, sweet pea?"
"Yeah. An' I like when we watch TV together. An' daddy is da bestest reader!"
Greg smiled. "I love that, too. I love just hanging out with you, Jacks."
Now Jackson smiled. "I love dat too!"
They watched as Rudolph met Hermie the Elf and Yukon Cornelius. Jackson laughed when he saw Hermie pop up in the snow. "Daddy, I like him!"
"He's cool, huh?" Greg asked. "Wish he'd been my dentist when I was a kid." Jackson and Morgan giggled.
When the characters returned to the North Pole, Jackson clapped. "Maybe dey gunna be nice to den," he said. They watched as Santa asked Rudolph to guide his sleigh.
"Yay!" Jackson cheered.
"It's not over yet," Morgan reminded him.
Jackson smiled when Santa and Rudolph got the toys from the Island of Misfit Toys. "Oh, yay!" Jackson said. When Santa said "merry Christmas", Jackson said, " Happy Merry Christmas! " Scruffy barked happily.
"Looks like Scruffy liked it, too," Morgan said.
"You did? Oh, good," Jackson said as he gently petted the dog.
As Greg tucked Jackson into bed, Jackson said, "Daddy, dis my favorite time of the whole day."
Greg smiled lovingly at his son. "Mine too."
Scruffy curled up beside Jackson. Greg patted the dog's head. "I'm glad you and Scruffy liked Rudolph, Jacks."
Jackson rubbed his eyes and looked at Greg. "Daddy, is Scruffy a misfit, like Rudolph?"
Scruffy whined softly and Greg smiled. "What do you think?"
Jackson thought for a moment and patted Scruffy's head. "He's not a misfit, he my doggie! An' even if he was a misfit, I still love him an' think he da bestest!"
Greg smiled warmly. "And there's nothing wrong with misfits, is there?"
"Nope! Cause if Rudolph didn't have a red nose, Santa couldn't fly his sleigh!"
"Right," Greg said. He loved how Jackson always found something good in everything. "And Scruffy is a great dog." Scruffy smiled as she got head rubs from both of them.
Jackson hugged his father. "An' we fit in just right here!"
Greg smiled warmly as his son gave him a big hug. "Yes, we do. I love you, Jacks."
"Love you, daddy."
The End.
