Author's Note: A trainer reflects on the day his gardevoir appeared before him.

I've had this idea for awhile, and eventually decided it work best in poetry form. Essentially, it's a tribute to my favourite pokemon in 10 syllable iambic pentameter. I may wrote a oneshot or another poem to accompany it at some point. Feel free to drop a review!

Beauty:

I do recall the day she came to me. The sun

Did sear my skin and bathe all of the world

In soft and glim'ring gold. The breeze was light,

It rushed across the ground and whistled soft

And gentle melodies that did caress

All that who'd pause and let the songs seduce

Their ears. I lay upon the ground outside,

My fingers grazing grass and glancing up

At that light blue shade painted on the sky,

My garden was a place no longer plagued

By weeds or ivy draped across the fence,

Instead it breathed of life and flowers in bloom,

Of roses, lillies, mint and jasmine burst

Up from the soil bed deep within my mind,

The sweet aroma wafted, tantalised

My nostrils as I felt the summer day

Alive around me, beauty that before

Her I had thought unrivalled and unmatched.

And then, abrupt, I felt a shadow reach

It's raking claws across the ground. It did

Disrupt the scene and so aggrieved I raised

My head to glance, to stare at what had come,

And then I felt pretense and ego melt

Like wax exposed to burning flick'ring flame,

The beams of sunlight broke around her frame

And bent unto her touch, her crystal hands

So soft, so delicate and so unlike

The roughened, calloused texture of my own,

She floated, soared above the dirt for it

Was clear that all the world was too impure,

This perfect vision, clear as mountain streams,

Encased within a gown of flowing white,

I thought perhaps I'd fallen victim to

A dream or a mirage. Illusions are

A cruel escape for when you do return

All life does seem so harshly cold and dark,

And yet my mind had not had me deceived,

And for that I am forever relieved.
