Quark lay on the surgical table, staring at the jar of clear preservative in which two vital bits of his anatomy would soon be floating.
Bashir followed his gaze. "You can back out now," he said. "It's still your choice."
"No, it's not," said Quark. "An entire economic system is at stake."
"I have performed surgery for lesser reasons. If you really feel —"
"It's so drastic!" snapped Quark. He took a breath, checked his anger. "Just tell me that you can reattach them — that they'll . . . work . . . like before."
Bashir sighed. "Quark, I told you before: your lobes will be fine."
