Nightmare

Edward was running as fast as he could, for he tried to be invisible – even for other vampires. What he was doing was strictly spoken not illegal but it wasn't right either. And although he had debated with himself for the last days if he would do this or not and eventually had come to the conclusion that it would be better if he wasn't doing it – he had deluded himself and had run out of the house and through the woods. He knew where Bella lived because he had driven her home last week, after the fiasco in Biology with the blood...

Blood.

He tried not to think about her blood but it was almost impossible...

When he reached her house he was glad to see that it was completely dark inside. Were Bella and her father already asleep? He listened carefully and at first heard the snoring of Charlie and then the very calm breath of the therefore sleeping Bella (humans only breathed like this when they were asleep).

There was a tree in front of her window so he climbed to a higher branch and looked into Bella's room. The window was left ajar. With caution and as silent as possible he opened the window so that he could quickly climb into the room. If he had a beating heart it would pound heavily now.

And then he watched Bella sleeping and it was the most beautiful he had ever seen. Sleep, because it was unknown to him, had always fascinated him in a special way. It seemed that Bella was sleeping peacefully and Edward decided that he could stay like this forever.

Two hours he just stood there near the window in her room and watched her sleep. Then suddenly she got agitated. Her heart beat heavily and she breathed quickly.

What was happening?!

A nightmare, he concluded. What was he supposed to do now? Leave in case she would awake? Or stay and try to help her?

Bella made the decision for him. "No, don't die, Edward!" she murmured in her sleep.

She was dreaming about him? She was worried of his death? He couldn't believe it! This lovely, special girl cared for him! He smiled lightly and then went slowly to her and took her hand. It was warm and soft – there is nothing greater than the warm and soft hand of the one you love.

She didn't wake up by this sudden cold at her hand but instead got calmer and calmer until she was sleeping peacefully again smiling unconsciously.

Edward watched her face. He tried to keep in mind every little detail of it although he knew that being a vampire that was not a big deal.

She was the one he waiting for his entire life. But to his misery his one and only love had to be human. There is nothing easy in life when you are doomed..., he thought. And then he made the mistake to think of her blood and to concentrate on her beating heart.

He panicked and jumped out of the open window and started running without even thinking about the direction. He ran and ran the whole night until he reached the ocean. Then he swam till dawn and never wanted to return. But he knew that he would turn around eventually – for his family – and for her...

THE END.
