Christmas Wish
This is a rather short and cute story between Bones and her dad. No need to tell anyone the drill. It's being told through her dad's eyes.
I noticed when I walked into my daughter's office that something was bothering her. She was sitting at her desk and she was crying. I walked over to her and squatted down next to her. "What's wrong honey?" I asked in a concerned voice.
"It's nothing dad. I was just thinking of something." Dr. Temperance Brennan or Tempe as I call her replied. "It's obviously something that is making you cry. I have done or said something wrong?" I asked. She shook her head as she put her hand on mine. "It's nothing you have done or said dad." Tempe replied as she wiped the tears from her face.
Then, I realized what it might be. "I think I have an idea on what it might be." I told her. She gave me a puzzled look. "You do?" Tempe asked in a surprised voice. I nodded my head as I put my arms around her and held her close to me.
"I think I do honey. You've got a Christmas wish, but you know it won't come true." I replied. Tempe nodded her head. "But, how could you know?" Tempe asked in a puzzled voice. I grinned as I held her tighter. "Oh, father's just have a way of knowing these things. Now, what is the Christmas wish?" I asked.
"You may think it's stupid." Tempe said. "Well, if you don't tell me, how will I know if it's stupid or not?" I told her. Tempe grinned slightly. "I'd like to see mom again. But, I know it won't happen because she's dead." Tempe said as fresh tears fell down her face. I could feel the tears on my face as well.
"Now, I don't think that's such a stupid Christmas wish honey. You know I would love to see your mom again too. But, if we just keep the wonderful memories of her in our hearts, she'll live forever." I told her as I gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead.
"I guess you're right dad. If I keep what memories I have of her in my heart, she'll always be with me." Tempe replied as she gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. "I love you Tempe." I replied as we sat there. "I love you too, dad." I heard her reply.
That right there, hearing my daughter telling me those three words was one of the best Christmas presents I could have ever received!
The End!
