Shadow trudges into his unwelcoming apartment. A cold aura filled the room as he walked around his living room. The rain outside foretold Shadows pain and suffering.
He felt alone.
He had a rough day dealing with all the happiness going on because of Valentine's Day. Shadow sits down in a painfully inhospitable armchair. He looks at the emptiness inside is apartment.
"Ugh…"
He sighs disdainfully as he hears cheerful music upstairs which wasn't mood setting.
Shadow turns the T.V. on to the weather channel.
"…and the rain shows no letting down this Valentine's Day…"
Shadow turns of the T.V. and looks outside into the rain. He dejectedly picks up his gun from his drawer. The cold metal in his hand was fused in his hand.
"Let's see if their happiness holds up."
Shadow cocks his gun. He then hears a loud lighting strike.
"Maybe not, my quest for salvation shall continue."
Shadow leaves his gun and walks out.
Later in another part of town…
Amy chases Sonic with roses and a heart shaped box in hand, hoping that he'll be with her.
"NO AMY! IM TIRED OF YOUR TIRED PATHETIC ATTMEPTS OF US BEING TOGETHER!"
"But Sonic…"
"NO THAT IS IT! TAKE A HINT! LEAVE ME ALONE!"
Sonic throws Amy's gifts on the ground and speeds off.
Amy runs of alone in the rain…
Later in the lonesome park…
Shadow walks alone in the foreboding park until he reaches a lonely gazebo. He stays there, contemplating with his stays there in quiet thought until he hears sobbing near by.
"WHY!?"
Shadow approaches Amy. She was a mess when he got to her.
"What's wrong?" Shadow tries to comfort her. He didn't feel like helping her but her sad contorted but the beautiful but weary face had attracted him.
"Sonic, that's who…"
Shadow leads Amy to the gazebo. Despite that Amy was soaking wet, Shadows decides to calm her by embracing her.
"I never realized Shadow was so warm…"
Amy nuzzles her head between Shadows chest hair.
"You know you're going to get into trouble just by following that faker. It's oblivious that he doesn't like you."
Amy realizes Shadow wasn't himself. He was being…sympathetic. She forgets her anguish and focuses on Shadows.
"Why are you being so kind? You never act this way. Usually you would leave me be right now if you saw me right now."
Shadow hesitates for an answer. For the first time, he shows his emotions.
"Huhhh…it's that….I…I…"
Amy knew it, so did Shadow. They had the same void, longing for companionship. Amy sees a stray piece of paper near her. To make Shadow happy, Amy makes a makeshift rose.
"Here Shadow, a rose I made with love."
She hands Shadow the crude paper rose. It melts in the rain as he gets it. This was the nicest thing anyone had done for him since Maria had died. He looks at the wilted rose contently and holds it dearly.
Then ruby meets emerald.
They lean in closely and kiss.
Shadow had found his salvation, in the sunshine of Amy's love.
