My first attempt at a Maximum Ride story so please be nice and give me lots of lovely reviews! J

Max's POV

And suddenly we were in Gods tumble dryer on the spin cycle.

Lashed around, gasping for breath and soaked I twisted round to check on the flock, Iggy and Fang were hanging onto Akila with all their might, Angel and Nudge had tied them selves together, a smart move but I'd bet it was painful and Gazzy was struggling against the wind. He seemed to be having real trouble holding his own against the storm and I wished I could glide over to him. Unfortunately the weather was such that trying to steer would have been downright suicidal. I clutched Total tighter and tried to keep flying.

I never even saw it coming. If I had maybe I could have avoided it. 'It' was a beam of wood, perhaps two metres long, the storm was whirling it around and around along with the other million or so pieces of debris. Unfortunately this particular piece of debris was in my flight path. Just as the screaming wind pushed me to the right the beam of wood moved towards the left; we collided. It wasn't pretty. It slammed straight in to my side forcing the air out of my lungs and causing me to lose my grip on Total. Thankfully he's a smart little dog and managed to hold on by gripping my sleeve between his teeth. I just wish he could have done that without gripping my hand as well.

The beam had hit my side. I was knocked out of balance and spun around. Unfortunately so did the beam, it hit me again on the wing and I plummeted downwards, as I did so the wind jerked my injured wing cruelly and the pain was too much. I passed out and let the wind take me where ever it wanted.

Iggy's POV

I screamed in horror when Akila disappeared. I'm not usually the screaming type but when a friend of yours, and yes, I did say friend, is wrenched from your grasp into the middle of a hurricane and you knew you could have prevented it if you had only been a little stronger, a little better, anyone would scream. There was a sudden swell in the wind and Akila was pulled from my grasp. With the lessening of weight I shot upwards. I thought I could hear Fang beside me, hear him shout out in frustration as he realised what happened but I couldn't be sure. The storm was simply too loud, even for my ears.

Then we were dropping, surprised I pulled open my wings, noticing the drop in wind and rain. Confused I flapped, gained height then slowly lowered myself to where I thought the ground was. As I got lower I could hear the voices of the Flock. I landed hard, stumbling against the rocky terrain.

I could hear Angel. She was crying. I guess Fang had told her about Akila. Nudge was there as well, she was talking to Angel, calming her down and I could feel Fangs wings brushing against mine but where was Max? And the Gasman? I turned to Fang, about to ask him if he could see them anywhere. But before I could open my mouth Nudge spoke.

"Where are they? I can't see them anywhere? And it's really bad out there. What if they haven't found the eye yet? Or maybe they're already down here looking for us? But if they are then where are they? What if…"

Her anxiety was plain, her voice was trembling and she didn't finish her sentence. That was a first for Nudge I thought wryly. But her questions froze my blood. Max and the Gasman weren't here. But where were they? Still in the storm?

Ok, what do you think? Should I carry on? R&R please!
