James walked into the little house that he shared with his wife and three-month-old son, Harry. He had just came back from a mission that Dumbledore sent him and Sirius on. The house was dark except for the light in the hall that led him upstairs to his wife and son. James took the stairs two at a time before reaching the top. He was ready to look in at his son when Harry started crying. He went in and picked up the crying baby. He checked to see if he needed a change but he was dry. James carried Harry downstairs and made him a bottle, but Harry didn't want that.

James took Harry and started to walk around the sitting room. "Harry, what is wrong?" James asked knowing the three-month-old couldn't answer him. The only thing that James got out of him was a cry. James started talking to him.

"Harry, I can't believe that you are three months old. It felt like yesterday when your mum told me that she was pregnant with you. I was scared and happy at the same time. Than we found out that you were going to be a boy. I looked to the heavens and asked why the gods are giving me a son." James looked down at his son to see that Harry was looking up at him with those green eyes that he got from his mother. He felt that Lily was looking right at him whenever he looked at his son's eyes.

"Harry, you are going to grow up way too fast for me and your mum. If you are anything like me, you are going to get into trouble before you leave for Hogwarts. You'll be amazing seeker when you play for Gryffindor. Getting there you'll probably break a couple of brooms. Your mum will tell you to stop breaking brooms but I'll buy you another every time." James leaned down and whispered in his ear. "We won't tell your mum about the brooms."

"One day you are going to leave us and go to Hogwarts, looking back and missing us but you'll make some friends that will stand by your side no matter what. Have some fun but make sure to study because your mum will want you to get good grades. Don't get into too much trouble," James paused for a moment. "I'll have to give you the map that Sirius, Remus, Peter, and I made, and cloak that helped me get out of a lot of trouble.

"You'll grow up and meet the love of your life. I must tell you Potter men have a habit of falling for redheads. There's going to be a moment you think that you are a man when you are with her. Take your time because you are just as nervous as she will be. You are probably going to break her heart one or two times but remember that you love each other and can work through things.

"One day you are going to leave home and start your own family but you are never going to know how I feel right now until you have a son. I want you to love him and show him how to be a man. He's going to need you just as much as you are going to need him. There will be parts of his mother in him that every time you look at him, you'll see her. I know because I see your mum in you all the time. God, I can't wait to see you with a son of your own." James looked down to see that Harry was sleeping. James carried him upstairs to his room and placed him in his crib. "Good night, Harry," James whispered as he walked away.
