Young Hearts: The Tears of War
By ShinobiWolf
I wrote this forever ago, about three and a half years ago for the Creative Writing Contest at my school. It's about a girl and her boyfriend, separated by war. It doesn't target any specific couple, because as you can see, I mention no names.
The painful expanses of
war are never such a
young heart's bliss, her longing for
her one true love, his return
from his clashes in the endless
war fare in
which he battles for his very
humanity. In the long, frozen nights he has but his dreams
to keep his heart and soul warm. with
the dreams of green mountain
fields dappled
with the radiant colors of a
fresh rainbow, the sweet smell
of lilies and wildflowers of all
colors and
designs carried by the
soft breeze. And in his dreams,
he sees
a young girl not older
than eighteen years, her gentle,
sweet smile beckoning him to
come back
to her, to hold her;
but the dreams always end there, and he is
again
called out into the battlefield
of pain and
sorrow. For months on end two young
hearts long for each other's familiar feel,
and to weep into each other's
arms, to let out their
sorrows
of war. Lonely
nights
never end
with
the meaningless suffering of many
other young hearts torn apart by
the tears of war.
