Papa never read me fairy tales when I was younger. I can remember that Mama used to, back when she and Papa were still together. She would tell me stories about so many things, like about the young boy that got the love of a princess! I used to love those stories. I know that a boy being read stories sounds stupid, but that's what she did.
Then…she and Papa divorced.
Papa took over taking care of me, not even letting Mama visit.
"Papa? Will you tell me a story?" a 5 year old Chiapas looked up at his father, who had told him to go to sleep 30 minutes before.
"Cesar, I'm busy right now" he sighed, looking at Cesar from behind his desk. He pushed his glasses further up his nose, and then adjusted them, showing his green eyes.
Chiapas looked sad, and wanted to get Mexico's attention. "Por favor? Mama used to read me fairy tales all the time."
Mexico tried to contain his anger. He didn't want Chiapas talking about his ex-wife. Right now he needed to focus on this paperwork. The blond bastard up north was giving him trouble again. "Well I'm Papa, not Mama. Now go to bed."
Feeling dejected, Chiapas sadly trudged down the hall to his room. He tucked himself in, and tried to go to sleep. But he couldn't. He wanted to hear those stories one more time, to hear Mama tell them to him in that smooth calm voice of hers.
I think I've found out why Papa never told me fairy tales. Adelita told me that when Mama and Papa were together, Mama would always say that she was in a fairy tale. That being married to Papa was perfect. But when they divorced, the glass cracked and the fairy tale disappeared. Maybe that's why Papa never told me fairy tales; he doesn't want me to believe in them.
Life is hard, and only chasing dreams will get you nowhere, I suppose. I guess I realize that now.
But doesn't he realize…
That if I had just one hope to cling on to…
My view and my life could have been different?
Well… that was random o.o
I Was listening to the song "Payphone" by Maroon 5, and I was thinking of Mexico and Guatemala when I thought of it.
Then the part about fairy tales came up and saying "All those fairy tales are full of shit" came up, and then… this came up…
This doesn't even deserve to be called a oneshot *facepalm* it's so shoooooort!
Well, enjoy this drabble then.
I promise that I'll type up some new chapters for my other stories now.
