EDIT 8/30/14: to my previous readers, I have changed a couple things here! I'll move on to the other chapters soon.
disclaimer: never will own Pokemon :(
Knuckles whitened as Blue clenched his hand around the Pokeball of his fained Pokeball. He lost again to Red. Again. Even with Wartortle having a type advantage against Red's Charmeleon, it lost to his rival's Pokemon. And then Red, being the condescending silent jerk he was, just left wordlessly and left him a couple revives. The nerve of that guy! Blue kicked the medicine away in order to save the remains of his damaged pride. I'll beat that stupid loser the next time I see him and pummel his dumb face! I'll-
"Blue!" a voice called, cutting into his thoughts. He looked up to see a brunette haired girl run towards him while holding onto her white hat. Upon reaching him, she bent over, steadying her hands on her knees as she caught her breath. "Jeez," she wheezed, "you guys always head off before I even do anything."
He sneered down at her, somewhat thankful she appeared. Only because teasing her always helped vent off some of his anger of course. "It's because you're so slow, Leafy!
Groaning, she stood straight and glared at him in the eye. "For the last time, it's Leaf! And I'm not slow—I'm just taking my time!"
He smirked. "That's called being slow, Leafy."
She huffed at the despised nickname he made just for her and glowered at him. Then losing the irritation in her eyes, she sighed. "Oh whatever. Where's Red?"
"Bah, that loser? He ran off! What a wimp!" Blue began laughing manically to hide the harsh truth.
"... You lost didn't you?"
His laughter came to an abrupt halt. "S-shut up! Anyways, why do you care where he went?"
Then Leaf did something odd. She kept her head down and began to twiddle her fingers. "Oh, it's nothing..." she said shyly.
Blue gave her a strange look at her peculiar behavior. "There's obviously something going on..."
She peeked at him from under her hat. "W-what do you mean?" She was doing that again-when she became all girly and weird. It was strange that she always did that whenever Red was around. Blue noticed it every time too and always got rather angry when it did. He didn't know exactly why he did and felt rather uncomfortable when he tried to delve into it before and just stopped with it. He concluded that Leaf and Red were annoying, thus that was why he always got mad.
And he got irritated again today, slightly less than he would have been if Red had been around, but nonetheless, irritated. "Quit that, idiot!" he snapped.
The insult wiped the shy (maybeevenslightlycute) expression off her face, much to Blue's relief. "Quit what?"
"Quit acting so weird I mean! How come whenever Red's around you starting acting funny and get all red and stuff?"
"O-oh," Leaf replied, once again beginning to act coy. "I-I do?"
"Yes you do! You're doing it right now!"
"Really?" She regained her composure and sniffed the air. The weird look returned and she giggled. "Ehehe... it smells like him..."
"What." Blue stared at her, disturbed. Hadn't Daisy, his older sis, told him something about when some people acted weird around other certain people?
She cleared her throat. "Ahem. Sorry."
What had she said? Sometimes she would ramble on about pointless stuff, but now Blue wished he had paid more attention.
"So have you seen him?"
Something about them being attracted, wasn't it?
"Hello? Earth to Blue?" Leaf waved a hand in his face.
He grabbed her hand and held it down."Y-you... Y-you're attracted to him?"
She blinked. "What?"
"You're attracted to Red!" he shouted in her ear.
"Jeez, not so loud!" She flinched and then widened her brown eyes at him. "What are you saying?"
"You're attracted to him, aren't you?!"
"I-uh, huh?" Leaf replied intelligently. A pinkish hue was slowly growing stronger in her cheeks.
"Well are you?!"
"Wha-" Leaf attempted to jerk her hand out of his grip, but he was too determined to find out. "C'mon let me go, Blue!"
"Not until you tell me!"
"I-I don't know! Blue, let me go!"
"Tell me!"
Huffing, she stopped struggling. "Fine! I..." Her voice trailed off, and she grew shy, eyes gluing themselves to the ground. She was obviously nervous, as her hands were beginning to feel clammy in Blue's. The chirping of Pokemon around them seemed to grow even louder. Seconds ticked by.
Amidst her silence, Blue began to question himself. Did he honestly want to hear it? As time trickled on, he began to feel that strange gut-wrenching anger that wasn't exactly anger swell up in him, jabbing at his insides.
"I-I," she finally spoke, fidgeting around.
No.
"I-I, erm-"
No.
She gulped. "I-I k-kinda-"
"NO!" Blue clamped her mouth with her own hand and let go of it. "You dummy... Leafy you're an idiot!" He backed away from her and stopped a few feet away to stick out his tongue childishly. He spun on his heel and ran, leaving behind a very confused yet somewhat relieved brunette.
OOOOOoooOOooOO
He felt mad- Leaf had caused him to get even MORE angry somehow than he had been before.
"Are you jealous?" a voice inside him asked.
NO, he replied angrily. He couldn't be jealous. He was BLUE. Grandson of Oak, smart, handsome, and an amazing trainer- way more amazing than Red could ever hope to be! People were supposed to be jealous of him! Certainly not the other way around, especially at those two stupid losers.
But... gah, how he wanted to kicked something.
ooOoOoOOoOoO
"Whoa-" Red stepped to the side, avoiding a near kick to his stomach. A rare surprised expression was on his usual stoic face, as he gawked at his auburn haired rival who gave him an even more intense glare than usual. "What was that for?"
"For… for…" Blue frowned. "EVERYTHING!"
