"Renewal"

By Loki Palmer

Author's Note: The God of War series belongs to Sony PlayStation. This one-shot fanfic is inspired by the ending of God of War III, but it has a major twist. I hope you enjoy it.

Kratos looked out upon the results of his campaign to conquer the gods who had done him wrong. Seas had risen, the dead were out of control, the sky had turned pitch-black, and plant life had died.

Athena's ghost started to mock him. "Look at what your campaign has wrought. All this you have received as your punishment. Look at the suffering people down there! All this has happened because of your anger and hatred, Ghost of Sparta. Are your nightmares over yet? Killing Ares did not bring back your wife and daughter. Why should they come back now for a monster like you? Who knows, you may kill them yet again!"

Kratos fell to his knees in sorrow. Even now, to what god could he pray? His father, Zeus, lay dead and bloodied at his feet.

And then he remembered. There was a power left to him. Hope. If he had destroyed the world, maybe he could renew it again.

"So what is the great Ghost of Sparta going to do now?"

~RENEWAL~

"OH, YES! KRATOS, KEEP GOING! YES! YES! YES! YES! YEEEEEEESSSS!"

Aphrodite's temple shook with her screams of bliss as Kratos danced with her a dance as old as gods and men. It was a mysterious dance of renewal. Kratos did not care for the raunchy details of the act, but he, like any other hot-blooded man, knew of its sublime pleasure and its efficacy.

As the two exhausted lovers lay next to each other, Athena's ghost came in. "Well, well, well. I never would have guessed that you would choose this option. Is the Ghost of Sparta going soft?"

With a burst of godly magic, Kratos restored her to a body. "Not at all, but you can join in this if you like, Athena."

The shocked look on Athena's face was priceless. "In your dreams, Ghost of Sparta." She left in a huff.

Kratos turned to Aphrodite and shrugged. "It was worth a shot. Are you ready for Round Two, Aphrodite?"

"Already? If you are up for it, sure … and Rounds Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven … however many we need to repopulate and restore the world."

Kratos smiled his first smile in what seemed like an age. "I am glad to hear that. Just one more thing … DIONYSUS, BRING UP SOME MORE WINE!"

"Coming right away, Lord Kratos," said Dionysus, who entered as fast as his legs could take him, carrying a cup and plenty of wine. "I hope this wine satisfies Milord's palate."

Kratos drank a long draught. "Heavenly, Dionysus. You do me a great service."

"Milord is too kind," said Dionysus, bowing and exiting the room.

"Ah, yes," thought Kratos as he prepared himself for the dance again, "life is good."

Author's Note: Another interesting one-shot. I may consider a sequel to this set in the Harry Potter universe. Read and Review!
