"If you have no critics, you'll likely have no success."

- Malcom X

The moon shines tonight. Yet, the light doesn't reach me. I feel lost and lonely. Rosekit is also awake. Her eyes shine in the dark. Applefall's tail is lightly tucked around her. I stare at her and turn my back to her. I hear her lightly sigh. I cannot sleep tonight - What if I am to never sleep?

"Skykit." I hear a whisper. I turn my head a moan, pretending that I was asleep. Rosekit's amber eyes hover over me. She paws my head and lightly laughs. I crane my neck towards her. Since when was she so light hearted?

"I know your not sleeping mouse-brain." She mews from beside. I shake my head and snore, laughing in the middle.

"Yes I am sleeping." I mumble. I snore some more and break out into a fit of giggles. Rosekit rolls around on the ground and bats her paws, catching air.

"Shh. You sound like Mouserunner. You'll wake Fernheart up." Rosekit says, catching her breath, referring to the old cranky tom that mother told me about when I had not yet opened my eyes. I go silent at the memory. Once again, I stare at my sister - whom was the worst sister possible just yesterday. Rosekit must have noticed the silence. She pads over to me and touches my ear with the tip of her tail.

"C'mon let's at least try to sleep." I nod and follow her blindly, hesitant of her odd behavior. Rosekit falls in beside me. She curls up beside me. We share warmth like any true sister's would.

"Sweet dreams, Skykit." Rosekit mumbles. I close my eyes and fall into a dark abyss.

I see dark things in my dream. Shadows and shadows. Screeches and screams. What else you ask? Not one blur light. Not even one flash.

Curse. Fake. Ugly. Murderer.

You are a murderer. You are a curse. You have no life. You might as well end. Die you fool.

I run on the solid ground. I look behind me and see mounds of cat swarming around. Dark things appear. My mother lies in the middle of the clearing. Her body is lifeless. Blood stains the already dark grass. Her soul rises and her angry eyes flare right through me. She screeches and runs right through. Many cats follow. I stay, my head ducked - of shame.

I wake up in my nest whimpering. My heart is beating fast. I rest a paw over my chest to settle it down. Applefall sits watching me like an owl. Her eyes, I notice, are sharp and hard. Rosekit sits beside Rowankit - Fernheart's only son. She is whispering in his ears, watching me through narrow eyes. Her posture straightens once she notices I am watching her.

"Good morning, Applefall." I mew, raising myself on the tip of my toes to meet her eyes. She bends her head down, thrusting her nose in my tiny face.

"Good morning, Skykit." Applefall says, in barley a whisper. I flinch and force a smile. I haven't talked to Applefall much since yesterday but, already there is something to - fishy about her. She doesn't even smile back. I flick my fluffy tail and walk towards Rosekit. Rowankit observes me and Rosekit sits not noticing me.

"Hey, Rosekit." I mew, my whiskers twitching delightedly. Her eyes flicker and she looks at me with the most unexpected face ever. A face that says, ew why are you here? My ears go flat at her behavior. Why was she being so - sisterly last night? I gulp and take a slight step backward.

"Uh..Hi?" She says, like she has no idea of who I am. Rowankit looks at me and gives me a slight smile. I return it, awkwardly. I note that his brown fur is sleek and neat. Not one hair sticks out - unlike mine. The older kits eyes are large and amber, full of glory and pride. He keeps his posture straight. Therefore, making him rather attractive tom. No wonder Rosekit is so fond of him. Beside him, Rosekit sits - uncomfortably close.

"So, is this your sister, Rosekit?" Rowankit breaks the long taunting silence. He glances at Rosekit and crouches down, swaying his tail. This remark seems to get Rosekit's attention. She straightens up and smiles ever so sweetly.

"Her?" She mews, pointing at me with her paw. Yeah, who else you mouse-brain. Rowankit nods.

"Uh, Yeah. She's my - sister." She mews, her eyes flickering from Rowankit to me and back again. Rowankit takes a step towards me.

"I'm really sorry about your mother. I know this is not enough, but, it's the best I can do." He mews, smiling sadly. I smile. That was nice of him. Rosekit steps in between and swishes her tail.

"Thank you, Rowankit. That was very sweet of you." She says, glancing over her shoulder. I'm not interested in him bee-brain. I have my whole life to go. I step back and make my way towards Applefall.

Applefall sits in the nest, a blank expression across her face. I feel a tug on my paws but, I simply ignore it. I continue walking but, next thing I know I'm on the floor, dust matted over my fur.

"Ugh - Stupid kit's always tripping and doing stupid stuff. So irresponsible! Why did Hazelstar choose me - me, out of all cats to look after these stupid kits? Why? Especially this one!" She growls, baring her teeth. I haul myself up again on my feet. Applefall glares hard at me. I lower my gaze and mumble a apology, I'm sure she didn't hear. I hear a cough beside me. Fernheart approaches us. She smiles at me but, when she notices my attire, the smile fades.

"Oh, poor kit. Did you fall? Are you okay? Hurt?" She mews urgently. I shake my head and look up at her, smiling. She takes me in her paws and starts licking my fur.

"You need to clean up yourself. After that - after that - you could go explore the camp. If that is alright with you, Applefall?" She says releasing me form her grip and looking at Applefall, who simply nods in reply. She nudges me and continues on with daily duties.

"Anything to get you out of sight, fox-dung. Even Rosekit is better then you. At least she knows where to step." She remarks, once Fernheart is out of earshot. I try to ignore her and take a seat in the dark corner of the den. I wet my paw and start to groom my own self.

The camp is huge. Nothing like I had imagined it to be like. In fact, it is ten times better. Huge warriors move about outside. Their big sleek pelts and bodies everywhere. A few cats sit at the fresh-kill pile, munching happily on fresh prey. A black and grey tom is yelling out names - probably organizing patrols.

"What is a kit, doing out here all alone?" A voice roars from above me. I crane my neck up to see the speaker. A muscular tom stands peering into my gaze.

"I-I'm exploring." I squeak, shyly. His eyes light up and he crouches down so he could be my size.

"Why, you must be Skykit!" The tom purrs, flicking his tail. I stare at him, amazed at his guessing skills. I nod.

"I'm Darktoad. Your uncle. Your mother's brother." He says. His eyes go sad at the mention of my mother. I don't say anything because, I simply have nothing to say.

"Snowmint was a wonderful cat. I'm awfully sad about her passing away." He continues. I sigh and nod once again, not liking of the topic of my mother appearing every now and then.

"You have your father's eyes." He says, peering into my gaze. I stand up straight at the mention of my father, whom I have not met yet.

"I do?" I purr. Darktaod nods and his eyes flicker of some sort of emotion, of which I cannot yet interoperate.

"Yes. Yet, I am sad to inform you, he did die a few days after you were born. I figured you might not have known that." He pushes on. He speaks non-stop, about stuff that I am not interested in. I obviously zone out, because I, sadly have no parents left on this single earth. My heart is beating faster and my fur is on it's ends. I'm not that emotional to his death then I was to Snowmint's but, still he is my father.

I hear Darktoad stop talking. He is on his paws now, and his ears are alert. I plop down on my bum, and wrap my tail neatly around my paws. Darktoad glances over his shoulders to where two young, probably apprentices, are jumping around a bigger and larger she-cat.

"Leafpaw! Ravenpaw! C'mon over here. I want you to meet a friend of mine!" Darktoad practically yells across the camp. The two young apprentices stop dead in their tracks and stare for a second. In a matter of seconds them two are in front of my face, observing me like they have never seen a kit.

"Is she a kit? Oh my Starclan! O my, she is a kit! Can you believe it Ravenpaw. lt's a kit!" The sandy she-cat squeals, jumping up and dawn and poking me lightly. The tom beside her gives her a look and continues looking at me. I shrink down at all the gazes.

"I think you scared her, Leafpaw. You act like you've never seen a kit before. The poor kit looks like a ghost." He remarks, tapping Leafpaw lightly on shoulder with his tail. She groans, glaring at him.

"Now, calm down you two." Darktoad interferes. I glance back and forth. Darktoad looks at me straight in the eye

"Skykit, this is Leafpaw." He says, nodding to the sandy she-cat. She beams, as a polite hello.

"This is Ravenpaw. Leafpaw and Ravenpaw, this is, the well known, - Skykit! I'd like you to show her around camp." He exclaims. They both nod solemnly - then attack me with questions and comments.

"How is it like being a kit, without a mother?"

"Applefall, is not the best cat to be stuck with."

"She hates kits!"

"I heard she made Aspenpaw catch a hundred mice for her and, she ate them all!"

"Oh my Starclan, really? Oh, poor Aspenpaw. Hey where is Aspenpaw?"

"I don't know. How am I supposed to know? He is always disappearing."

"It not even like, funny. Though he is pretty cute. I admit it."

"Ew, Leafpaw. Get a life. Ughh, were supposed to show Skykit around the camp."

"Oh sorry, Skykit. C'mon let's go." Leafpaw finally ends the century long conversation. She flicks her tail and I follow her straight ahead. Ravenpaw looks at me with those green eyes.

"Hey, don't you have a sister? Rosekit, I believe." Ravenpaw says, glancing ahead. I nod and mumble,

"Yeah - I do." I say. My throught is dry, my voice comes out raspy. Leafpaw looks at me and smiles. I decide, I like her.

"So, you do talk? Ha - never figured." She says. glancing over her shoulder. I scoff lightly and follow her.

"What'sa kit doin' out here?" I turn my head to see a spotted she-cat walking towards us. Leafpaw and Ravenpaw slightly dip their heads.

"Doveclaw. This is Skykit. Snowmint's daughter. The one that opened her eyes late. We're showing her around camp." Ravenpaw mews. The she-cat, now known as Doveclaw, nods and gives me a nice smile.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Skykit. - Smokegrass was looking for you, Leafpaw. I'll tell him your busy, though." She says, flicking her tail as a slight goodbye. We walk for a little while and I realise that I should talk. It is a bit rude not talking at all.

"So, are you two denmates- or uh - mates?" I mew, keeping my voice exceptionally quiet. They both crack up, laughing like I said the funniest thing ever. They stop laughing catching their breath.

"Oh, Skykit. So, innocent and precious. We're not mates! That would be gross. We're simply littermates." Leafpaw purrs, touching her tail tip to my cheek. My fur goes warm and I apologize under my breath.

We walk for a little while and I decide that I want to go back to the nursery but, that's not before I'm attacked by a swarm of cats.

"Skykit! I've never seen you outside of the nursery before." I look up to see a dark tom speaking. I gulp and take on the other greetings and welcomes.

"Well well well. If it isn't Snowmint's late bloomer." A voice booms. I crane my head up, once again, to see a she-cat with the slightest of gray fur.

"I'm Hazelstar. The clan leader. - I'm sorry about Snowmint. She was a wonderful warrior." She mews, touching her muzzle to my forehead.

"Thank you." I mew, looking at her and her only. I try to ignore all the gazes on me.

"Eh, move out of the way ya youngsters." A raspy voice says. I turn my head and see a old white tom with amber eyes, shoving through the cats.

"Oh, it is another one of those kits!" The tom says. He beckons me with his tail and Hazelstar nudges me to follow.

"My name is Rabbithop." He says and I nod. I follow him into a slightly bigger den and he tells me to sit. I do. Then he starts a story. A very long story indeed.

"Your mother, was the best warrior a clan could ever ask for -"

QOTD: Who is you favourite character in the book so far?

Guest: Thank you! I know I don't think you do.. :D

Darkness Fades: Thank you! Yes I did start a Betrayal story a while ago but, I deleted it because I didn't like it. It was just a rewrite of my very first story. This one is possibly better, I hope :D.

Streaking Shadows: Thank you for the OC. I'll be sure to include Flow. Are they getting along?

TEH EPIC KITTEHZ: I'm sorry but, Galaxykit is a little out of the ordinary name. I was kind of hoping to have single worded names. But, if you have any other OC please submit them! They'll be more than welcome! Thanks for the review though!

Amberstorm233: Your review helped me a lot. Like very. I did change up the names as you suggested. I didn't even realise I put Turtletail. Stupid me! And for the allegiances I changed it up a little! Thank you again! Did I say thank you?!

Erm..so let's see. I got a PM from I'm not mentioning the name saying that why I write in the 'I' point of view. It is actually quite simple. I know that Erin Hunter originally wrote in the authors point of view but, to me it is better to write the other way around. I feel like I'm actually in their positions so, that's my answer!

I will give you my OC form again! Remember single worded names!
