In the last chapter, on the scheduled training day, the two sons of Goku, Goten and Gohan flew toward West City to meet Vegeta and his son, Trunks at the Capsule Corporation, on the way there the two made their way they noticed a familiar Ki which was quickly found out to be the eldest brother's daughter, Pan. The daughter said that she wanted to them training with seasoned Saiyan warrior that was just like a drill instructor when it came to training. Continuing their journey along with the oldest brother's daughter, the group arrived at the Capsule Corporation.
The former Saiyan Prince interrupted objected to the idea of her training with them in the Gravity Chamber. Pan decided to bid farewell before she rose from the ground ready to leave after the quarter Saiyan daughter disappeared into the distance toward an area outside the city, Gohan began moving towards the main building to join the others in the Gravity Chamber.
After receiving the gifts that her father gave her, Pan who was just outside West City getting ready to train by herself, finding an isolated she began to exercise, Suddenly at the corner of her eye, Pan saw a weird glowing light, which caught her attention as the light grew brighter, the quarter Saiyan girl then put her arms up to block the light as it blinded her vision. Then to her surprise, while she flew a bit closer to investigate, it was beginning to become increasingly difficult to fly as she began to feel a strange pulling sensation which was getting increasingly stronger, she even tried using her Ki to blast herself away from the black hole as the vortex was pulling her in, but it was no use as the vortex sucked her in.
Chapter 2: Pan's Disappearance.
At Capsule Corporation inside of the Gravity Chamber, completely unaware of Pan's dire situation and fate. Vegeta and the others who were still busy training at a high gravity level until Goten now feeling the true effect of the harsh gravity suddenly decided to speak out, "I can't take this anymore," he stated along with a question, "we've been at this for what feels like hours can we have a break now?"
"Absolutely not! Don't test my patience!" the former Saiyan Prince answered before then taking the advantage of situation by surprising the youngest of Goku's sons, bashing the back of his shoulders with his left elbow, forcing him to hit the ground hard in pain, "You can rest when you can at least land one hit on me, not before."
Then trying his hardest to get to feet, Goten lifted himself and leapt at the man who attacked him, attempting to return the favour with a direct hit from a punch only to be easily blocked and sent back to the ground, "But, Father it's getting increasingly difficult to keep up with you; can't we at least go super..." Trunks replied to his father before Vegeta cut him off mid-sentence. "What? You want to use a transformation as a crutch!?" he yelled in anger at his son. "That would make it too easy; I want you to feel every move!"
"Come on Vegeta, we're suffering here!" Goten said pleading to the seasoned Saiyan warrior, trying his best to persuade him to change his mind. "It feels like being crushed by a zoo of elephants."
"If you can't handle the gravity in your normal state, then what would be the point of training at all?" the former Saiyan Prince said with anger in response.
"Pan!?" Gohan thought out loud in shock to himself as he felt a sudden energy spike of Ki, powering up on the edge of West City. 'What on earth is happening outside?'
After Vegeta had finished his sentence with his son and Goten, he turned to face the elder son of Goku when he noticed that he seemed preoccupied, "Gohan?" he said in surprise until he too felt the sudden energy spike. "Wait what the... ...I see."
"Huh, Vegeta, Bro?" the youngest son of Goku in confusion as he saw the seasoned Saiyan warrior and his brother distressed look on their faces until he also noticed Pan's sudden Ki spiked. "What's wrong...?"
"That's Pan's Ki, but why on Earth would she be powering up?" the lavender-haired man murmured in confusion.
While the group were about to question as to why Pan's strength increased, the older son of Goku was beginning to show great concern for his daughter's safety, "My daughter's Ki... g-guy's, do you sense that?" he asked the others in distress.
'Something's not right,' Vegeta thought to himself in confusion, 'why would the girl power up to that height, that's not just to train!?'
"Wait, it was just there and now it's gone, my daughter's Ki... I-I-I don't sense anything from her," Gohan told the others in the room, turning from great distress to outright fear and worry as Pan's Ki just suddenly disappeared completely, "it increased and then, her energy just simply vanished, but I don't sense a foe's Ki... w-what in the world happened?"
As the oldest of Goku's sons grew more concerned about his daughter's safety, the other's were left in a state of confusion about what had just happened, "What the heck, you don't think she's... w-what could have of happened to her?" Trunks said in confusion.
"Guys you should take a look outside," a voice from over an intercom suddenly yelled to the former Saiyan Prince and the group, the voice they heard was Bulma and it sounded like she was in great shock, "there's something that you all should see!"
'This must have something to do with Pan's sudden disappearance.' the lavender-haired man thought to himself.
The group quickly scrambled to get outside after Vegeta decided to suspend the training session, "okay the training session ends here, for now, this sounds far too important to wait," he said to the group as they made a fast decision to find out what the blue-haired woman was talking about, "let's go see what that woman wants us to see outside, it may give us insight into what happened to Pan... and after that Gohan, we'll all immediately go search for her together." Then while the rest of group left the Gravity Chamber, the seasoned Saiyan warrior was left behind to shut down gravity generator, "so much for training, I hope this doesn't bite us in the..." he thought out loud to himself before he turned the machine off, Vegeta then quickly joined the others outside. Just as he exited the former Saiyan Prince noticed the vortex in the distance, 'so that must be what she wanted us to see.' he thought as he walked towards Bulma and the others.
"Man guys, that thing's huge!" Goten yelled out loud to the others, "are we in danger!?"
"So, woman care to explain on what the heck that green hole in the sky, is?" Vegeta asked Bulma as he pointed at the vortex.
Looking at her portable device connected to the blue-haired woman's main research computer, she told what they were dealing with based on what little research she had done, "Well, by the computer readings," she replied, answering the seasoned Saiyan warrior, "it's a very large, but unstable spatial rift in space and time."
"Unstable?" Gohan whispered to himself before asking Bulma a question, "could it be dangerous, does it pose a threat."
"No, not currently, must of its energy has already dispersed since its formation," she replied.
"S-spatial rift in space and time?" the youngest son of Goku asked, repeating Bulma's last few words as a form of a question with a delayed response.
Taking no time at all, the blue-haired woman began answering Goten's question by explaining what the Spatial rift was, "basically," she said in response, "it's a kind of hole in time or maybe even into another dimension."
"Don't you remember. this has once happened before," Gohan told his brother.
"Oh, yeah..." Goku's youngest son returned now with a sort of understanding of what Bulma was talking about, "like the one that Buu created when he escaped from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber or the one we made a new one as Gotenks to go after him."
"Yes, but maybe on an even grander scale," she replied.
"Then does that mean that someone or something come through the rift since it formed and enter into our world?" Vegeta asked wondering if there would a new threat that he'll have to take care of.
Checking her device to find out if anything had passed through, the blue-haired woman told him about the results she had got, answering the former Saiyan Prince's question, "no, as far as I know, nothing from the other side has even attempted to exit from the rift," she stated in a effort to make not worry, "but one object or person did enter, the others believe that it could have been Pan and based on what Gohan told me about where she was before you got here, I would have to agree with them."
"There's no need to worry Gohan, the rift is still open so we'll just fly through and get that brat back to you..." Vegeta said to the father of Pan turning to face him trying to reassure Gohan that they will find his daughter, after seeing his still very distressed face.
"Of course, t-thank you, Vegeta," Pan's father replied a little relieved.
Then suddenly Bulma's portable device started bleeping, in shock, she turned back to look at her the device and discovered to her horror that the reading from her she got from the computer was quite unsettling, "What? H-how in the world... wait that's..." she said out loud in shock.
"Goten, Trunks both of you with me, we will enter the..." the seasoned Saiyan warrior told the two as he was getting ready to enter the rift, but before he could finish his sentence the vortex suddenly collapsed with a sound of roaring thunder.
"What happened?" the group said simultaneously in shock and confusion.
After she had received a complete picture of the information she got from her computer, the blue-haired woman decided to tell the others about what had just happened, "according to this, it must have been too unstable and collapsed under its own gravity..." she relayed to the group.
"Blast it!" Vegeta yelled in frustration.
"But how are we going to save Pan now, with the black hole gone?" Goten asked out loud, not really directed at any one person. "We can't even call out Shenron, we don't have the dragon balls anymore."
Looking at the raw data while she let the main process the information, thinking it over Bulma suddenly came up with an idea, "wait, my computer did record the wavelength of the rift," she told to the group, "so I think it may be possible to be able to... hmm it will take some time, but I think I will be able to refit the time machine to recreate the rift myself."
"That's at least some good news," Goten said in response.
"Gohan, you can leave and go home, tell your wife and mother about the situation then return here," the former Saiyan Prince said to Gohan.
"Right," Gohan replied.
Then as the blue-haired woman walked back to her lab, Vegeta with nothing else to do decided to return to Gravity Chamber, but not before telling the other two what he wanted them to do, "and of course, Goten and Trunks will stay here to continue their training with me," he said to the two.
As the seasoned Saiyan warrior began heading back gravity room with the youngest of Goku's sons and his own son, who reluctantly joined him, Gohan took a moment to take the situation all in, 'Where are you Pan?' he thought to himself before taking Vegeta advice, he decided to begin his journey back to his home and what was left of his family, as he flew away from Capsule Corporation was on his way home. The father of the girl was now travelling at a slow speed deep in thought, thinking about his daughter's fate and how much fear or danger she was in, 'just where I thought we finally had some peace, how did this happen?' he thought.
Unable to hide or even control his emotions, the eldest son of Goku began to take his growing frustration out onto the local landscape as he flew to a large group of rocks and started to punch the formation to smithereens, "why did I let this have happened! I should have insisted to Vegeta that she should join then..." he yelled in anger until he stopped and took a deep breath, 'wait Gohan calm down, you couldn't have known what would have happened, I've got to calm down,' he later thought to himself, 'Bulma's working on a way to get to her, and if it's her she'll definitely do it.'
Finally calming himself down, Goku's oldest son continued his journey home at the foot of a forest near Mount Paozu, 'I still have to tell my wife and mother,' he thought to himself, 'how am I going to explain it to them.' Upon arriving at his home, the eldest son of Goku began to land at the end of the pathway to the door of his. "Gohan?" his mother, Chi-Chi asked him. "Why are you back so soon?"
"Mother," Gohan replied, "could you bring Videl here for a moment, there's something important I've got to tell you."
"What is it Gohan? Wait! Before you answer, have you seen Pan?" his mother inquired in response. "She said she would do some chores when she gets back?"
It began to get more difficult for Gohan to talk as the mere mention Pan flared his emotion as he once again pleaded for his mother to get his wife, "this involves Pan," her son said to her, "so could you go get her, please."
"Involves Pan?" Chi-Chi asked in confusion. "Oh my, what happened to her Gohan?"
"Try not to worry, I'll tell you in detail once you get Videl," Gohan answered his mother bearly controlling himself, "I need you two composed when I break the new and I believe she would like to know."
Not entirely sure what had really happened to Pan, but knowing that it was important to listen to what her son will say about her granddaughter's situation, the mother agreed, "Of course, but I think we should go inside first," she said in response, "from personal experience, I think the best place to received bad news is setting down, so if someone faints they don't hurt themselves."
Then once they were inside, Chi-Chi went in search of her daughter in law and brought her into the living room, "What is it Gohan?" his wife, Videl asked her husband, "Chi-Chi said something about Pan being trouble?"
"I don't know where to start," he replied while trying to think how he should explain to the pair, "but I'll try my best to explain."
Once her husband began revealing to the pair on what he believed had happened to Pan, Videl almost broke down in shock and confusion as he spoke and quickly went to sorrow as he continued, "What are we going to do Gohan?" his wife asked in response. "Without the Dragon Balls, how are we going to rescue her?"
"Don't worry, as hard as it is," Gohan replied tried to comfort her, "Bulma is hard at work on a way to get to her back as we speak, as you know she's the best person able to help her."
"Okay, Gohan... but that's going to stop me from worrying about our poor helpless girl," Videl told her husband almost unable to find the right words to express herself.
After he had broken the news, Gohan was thinking about returning to Capsule Corporation as he promised to Vegeta believing that it would be the best thing to do, "right, I think I should head back to Capsule Corp." he told the two that he was heading back
"Why Gohan?" his mother asked.
"Well, the black hole could be only the tip of the iceberg, I believe that there is to this I've got to get back to training and I need to get ready," he told his wife and mother, "it could reopen and whatever was behind it could rear its ugly head in any case, Bulma could use an extra pair of hands."
Unwilling or unable to find a reason to stop him Chi-Chi reluctantly agreed with her son decision, "okay if you say so," she said in response, "just be careful, we don't want to lose you to a black hole too."
"I will, I leave Videl in your care, look after her for me, at least while I'm gone," Goku's oldest son whispered to her in response, "she'll need your support, I'll be back soon."
"I will Gohan," his mother said in response.
Now ready to leave, Gohan said his goodbyes before heading out the door, "Thank you mother," he replied, "I'll see you two real soon."
'Just when I thought all this craziness was over,' Chi-Chi thought to herself after her son had left, 'wherever you are my granddaughter, I hope you're safe.'
-Meanwhile-
Trapped inside the vortex, Pan who was floating lost and aimlessly in a void like dimension was now regaining consciousness after losing it when she was pulled in, "w-w-what!? where am I?" she said out loud in surprise gaining full alert of her surroundings in the thin air. Wondering if she was forever trapped or have the luck of it sending into the great unknown, the quarter Saiyan girl was really feeling the fear of not being in control, 'Will I ever be able to escape...' she thought to herself unsure what was going to happen to her or where it might send her as every minute she spent in the vortex to her felt like hours while she floated aimlessly. Suddenly to her surprise, just when she was about to lose all hope of ever escaping, the vortex began to rumble, "whats happening now!" she shrieked in response, then with a great roar it shot her out into an unknown forest, falling uncontrollably to the ground.
Pan while being forced to the ground noticed a large patch of mud directly in her path, "N-no Not mud," she yelled out loud to herself, "I've got to stop!" Then regaining the ability to use her Ki, she gathered her energy to try and stop herself from falling or getting covered in mud, 'That was close!' she thought to herself as she landed safely and was now getting her bearings. 'Almost fell into that patch of mud, that's the last thing I want happening, I don't want to get myself covered in mud.' Searching around for anything that would tell her where she was or a familiar sight that resembles what she recognized, the quarter Saiyan was turning her head in every direction, "now, where on the planet am I?" she asked herself out loud, "I never been in a forest like this before!"
Then raising herself off the ground, Pan continued her search above tree level, 'this is strange? I don't recognise anything around here,' she thought as she looked in every direction.
'It feels sort of the same, but there's something different, weird?' she thought to herself before she attempted sensing her father's Ki, but she couldn't feel his or anyone's energy for that matter, 'I can't sense my dad's Ki or even the others.'
Rather abruptly Pan sensed a number of unfamiliar Ki's in the distance, 'I can't my dad's Ki, but I can sense a few energy's in the distance am I still even on Earth?' she thought in response. 'Hmm... ...I don't recognise them and they feel odd, but they are at least Human.' Then as she took the time to sense how far away they were, Pan couldn't put her finger on it, they were Human, but they were different to any she had ever sensed before, 'They're higher than an average Human and their Ki... they are different from what I normally sense, strange?' she thought as she never felt anything like it before. 'Well hanging around here not going to help me, let's see... they're not too far from here, so maybe I can ask them where I am, I hope they're at least friendly.'
With her curiosity peaked, the quarter Saiyan girl decided to head towards the group of unknown strangers, "hmm definitely no sign of West City..." she said thinking out loud as she rose higher. Thinking that flying to them was the quickest way to get to them and just when pan was about to make a move she looked around, the girl was in shock and awe seeing how large the forest was, 'This is one large forest,' she thought, 'I will definitely cover more ground if I fly there.'
Just before she was about to head towards the group of unknown people she had sensed, Pan heard an explosion in the opposite direction, 'What an explosion?' she thought. 'Odd, I don't sense any Ki in that direction; did that explosion kill whoever was there?'
'Some of those strange Ki's have split up from the main group,' she thought in surprise forgetting what she was about to do, 'are they heading towards the area where the explosion was?'
So instead of continuing towards the group of strangers, Pan decided to investigate the site of where she heard the explosion, 'Are there people there that I can't sense due to them losing conscious, well if there is anybody there,' she thought with worry or excitement, 'they might need some help and the strangers that are heading there might know where I am, I get to kill two birds with one stone.'
'Smoke?' she thought as she saw the smoke trail raise above the trees in the distance, 'That's gotta be where the explosion was.' Then as she began to move towards the area where she had heard the explosion, Pan decided to fly as fast as she possibly could, 'I've got to move fast!' she thought.
To be continued...
