"Momma! Momma help!" She yelped from her bedroom. I went rushing in, fearing someone might actually be hurting her. But, it was just another horrid night terror. I sat on her bed and lifted her into my arms.
"It's alright, my darling. Momma's got you. No one will ever hurt you as long as I'm around." I comforted her as she nestled her head into my chest.
"Momma it hurts." She tells me.
"What hurts, honey?"
"M-my arm."
I look at her arm and see it is badly burnt. "Oh my baby! What happened?"
"I-it was r-real Momma. My nightmare was real. There was fire everywhere and people were trying to get me. And then I got b-burnt." Miyla explains.
"Well, fear no more. Momma's gonna help you. You won't be hurt ever again." I use little bits of light magic I had left to fix her arm.
"T-thank you M-Momma." She stutters.
"You are very welcome my darling." I lay her under her covers and lay down beside her as I rub my hand on her tiny forehead. "Everything's going to be alright. I promise."
"Momma, can you sing to me?" She asks.
"Of course I can." I reply. I then start singing her song. The song my guards wrote just for her.
"Somewhere over the rainbow. Way up high. There's a land that I've heard of, once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue. And the dreams that you dare to dream. Really do come true. Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up when
the clouds are far behind me. When troubles melt like lemon drops, way above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me."
Miyla smiles as she starts to sing with me.
"Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow. Why then, oh why can't I? If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow, why, oh why can't I?"
Finally, my little girl was sound asleep. Hopefully this time she can dream happily.
