...Chapter 2

...Groups

The beam of Luffy's smile was blinding as the Shichibukai exited the Straw Hat's ship after disembarking upon reaching the colorful island. The abnormally large island had a pale, flawless beach that stretched out for miles on either side of the crew. Before them, large, rainbow-colored trees grew tall and lean far above them, straining to touch the sky. Bushes, standing ten to twenty feet tall, silently swayed in the gentle breeze in all shapes, colors, and sizes. The thin grasses which thrived among the plants danced in perfect unison to the music of the wind. Law's eyes soften at the sight. It seems so peaceful.

Until he remembered what crew he was with. Stealing a glance at the enthusiastic black-haired captain, Law couldn't help but let out a small smirk.

The smile didn't last long.

The cheers of the Long Nose and the tanuki annoyed him greatly, which caused him to slip back into his routine stoic countenance. Both were playing with the pure, white sand. The blonde cook, who happened to be fawning over their expert navigator, annoyed him also. Why must the man be so mad over some woman? It was so...romantic, he guessed. Dark, ivory eyes roam off, and its landing point seems to be none other than Luffy. Tsking, the man lowers his head as the aforementioned turns his way.

"Oi, Traffy! What are yo-"

"Everyone," interrupts Nami, turning away from Sanji, "please come here! We're going to split into groups and explore."

The scene bothered him to such an extreme that the swordsman decided to walk off, alone, to think about...him. The archeologist of the team quietly watches his departure. She turns to the green swordsman to her left. "What was that about?" Robin asks, bringing her eyeglasses from atop her raven hair to rest comfortably on her nose.

Shrugging, the muscled man starts to walk towards the rapidly congregating Straw Hats. "Who knows?" was the gruff reply.

Robin contemplated following the man, or at least sending a clone, but he would easily notice. Fighting against her growing doubt, the mature woman shakes her head. What was she thinking? Luffy trusted the man, so she would also.

"Robin! We're super waiting for you!" calls the cyborg. Towering at nine feet, Franky waves the woman over. Casting a sly glance to the shrubs where Law had disappeared, Robin walks over to her crew.

...

"Ok, so here's the game plan. We're going to split into three groups," Nami explains, holding up three fingers with one hand and holding her hip with the other. "Me, Chopper, and Luffy will go out to explore parts of the island. I will keep him in check, and also get information to draw my map of it. We're going to restock on food."

Everyone nodded, with the exception of one, knowing exactly which he Nami was referring to; concerning him, thought the Straw Hats, was it really wise to take him to stock up on food?

Luffy laughed heartily, slapping a hand on his knee. "Yeah, Chopper's a real troublemaker! You even need Nami to-"

"She's talking about you, idiot!" snapped Zoro and Sanji, dropping a swift kick and punch to the back of his head. The captain's straw hat bobbed off his head as the blows landed, causing a rubber hand to quickly fetch it.

Eying the three with bland interest, the curly haired young woman continued. "Ah-huh. The second group, Zoro, Robin, and Brook, will also go exploring. You all are in charge of regular supplies, including cola."

Brook turns to the two within his group. "Well then, Zoro-san, Robin-san. Glad to be working with you-hohoho!" Robin smiled silently in response, and Zoro suppressed a grin.

Looking approvingly at their reactions, Nami began again, "Alright, that leaves Sanji-kun, Franky, and Usopp to protect the ship."

Smiling widely, the half-human strikes his signature pose, raising his forearms to touch above his head. "Super leave it to me!" Nodding, Nami moves to Sanji, who sits in depression a little while off from the group.

"Sanji-kun?" The navigator asks inquiringly. Hiccuping, the handsomely dressed man sobs, "But Nami-swan! Why am I separated from you?"

Sighing, the woman gives a side-long glance at her two companions. "Who is more likely to keep a good eye on these two, me or..." her gazes shifts to Sanji's group. Franky dances, running back to the Sunny, saying something in which every other word was 'super'. Usopp synchronized with his moves, boasting of how "Captain Usopp was going to protect the Sunny with his life!"

The cook looked back with despair. "But...!" he drawls, pleading with large, puppy-like eyes. Fighting the sudden urge to suddenly rethink her group choices, Nami shakes her head sadly. "Sorry, Sanji-kun. I also wanted the Monster Trio to be separated, so that the power levels in each group were about the same."

Sighing, the blonde ruffles his slightly curly hair covering the right side of his face. "I guess I can't do anything about it." Nami softens her eyes at the sight. Maybe he could be understanding at times.

The navigator of the Straw Hats turns to face her nakama, glad they were already separated into their groups. "Oookay! Chopper! Hold onto Luffy nice and tight please!"

"Roger that!" rumbled the deep voice of the transformed, muscled reindeer. His elastic captain had already wandered off, but not far enough that a surprise attack couldn't catch him. The poor Straw Hat wearer struggled hopelessly against the sepia colored fur which almost completely engulfed him.

Throwing daggers at the captain, Nami continues, "Alright! Everyone, disperse! Please, Robin, make sure Zoro doesn't get lost-" at this, Brook held the man down from drawing a sword, "and please finish your jobs! We meet back here in three hours from now- at about four o' clock. If you get done with your job early, you can goof off, but don't cause any trouble."

Stares were directed in Luffy's, Zoro's, and Sanji's direction, which were returned with accusing stares of their own.

"Ok, let's go!"

The designed groups take off, each to their tasks, or, for some, to their own motives, within the beautifully colored island. The crew was, for now, peaceful. But it was only time until someone messes up...
