Chapter 2
Heroic Act
"UUUUWAAAAAH!" I screamed as I hit hard on the wall, leaving a massive impact left on the wall.
This was a memory from my past. I was only five years old at this time, and my older sister was training me.
"Come on, Kai! Is that all you can do, my little bro?" She asked immediately.
I coughed up and threw up. "Gah! …Big Sis, please…I don't want to fight anymore. Can we stop?"
I begged her, but she didn't look convinced and just reply me with a stern look.
"You're not going to become strong if you give up that easily," she said. "You got to fight back! A Hero never gives up!"
'Hero never gives up…. That is something I don't get.' I thought as the flashback of my past ended there.
I just ended my meditation training and the huge sand clocks that floated around me just stopped with the last grain of sand poured into the bottom glass. The room I was in brightened when the light turned on. The door opened, and I exited the room.
Remember I said that we have an underground lair at my house? Well, this is part of the underground lair. My parents built this during the early time of their hero career, but now currently it was used by me and my big sister for training. It was very useful, helping me to prepare for the U.A. High School's entrance exam.
U.A. High School is the most prestigious high school for young Quirk users to come and train to become a hero. A lot of model heroes graduated from that high school, including both my parents and big sister. In fact, I think since it was opened, every generation of my family went to that school. Although, I feel… indifferent about going to that school.
"Hey, sports!" My sister spoked through the speaker. This lair also had a speaker/audio system that connected to the upper floor for communication and other purposes.
I walked over to the wall and pressed a button on the intercom. "Yes, Sis?"
"Breakfast is ready, so hurry up or you'll be late for the exam!" She stated before the com closed.
I went to the elevators and it took me straight upstairs. I exited it out to come into our house's hallway and just around the corner was the dining room.
I sat down and ate my breakfast.
"So, are you excited for the entrance exam? Nervous even?" She asked with her eyes sparkled with curiosity and excitement.
"Not…so much," I replied in the most confident tone I can say.
My sister gave me a big hug again in-between her chest.
"Oh, my sweet little brother! Don't worry. I'm sure you will be fine!" She said in a childish tone, trying to soothe me.
"That's great, sis, but you're choking me again!" I complained as I felt like my lungs being squeezed.
After I ate, I got my backpack and went straight to UA. Luckily, it wasn't too far. The UA entrance was fortified, but the gate and the front door were the dream school for everyone who wants to enter and learn here. It was spotless and shined like a beacon of hope.
I stood in front of the school, looking at its architecture. It was impressive indeed, but I didn't feel too…excited to be here.
"Uuwaah!" I turned over to my right shoulder and saw that boy, who looked familiar.
"Hey, that kid…" I thought aloud as I saw the curly hair boy saved by a brown, bowl-cut hair girl. It looked like she used a Quirk that manipulates gravity or caused someone to float in the air.
I let them be as I went my way, but that curly hair boy…he looked awfully familiar.
-My Hero Academia-
"Welcome, everyone! Welcome to my one and all show! Everybody say heeeeeeeyy!"
Nobody said anything, except for the sound of silence.
"I'm excited as you all, too! It shivers down my spine!" The DJ-esque man exclaimed.
This was Present Mic, a pro-hero and apparently one of the faculty staff here at U.A. High.
"Oh my god….it's Voice Type Hero Present Mic!" The curly hair boy marveled nervously as I was just below from him or front of him rather.
"I listen to him on the radio every week! This is incredible, the lecturers at U.A. really are Pro Heroes!" He whispered excitedly.
"Shut it." The boy behind him grunted. He also looked familiar and I think I saw him at my old middle school, sometimes. He had a spiky blond hair and looked a bit of bully.
'If they both don't shut it, then someone would…'
"Now pay close attention, listeners! We'll be testing your mettle by doing a 10-minute practice run at our replica city district!" Present Mic stated. "Everyone gathers at the designated area after this meeting, ya dig? OKAY!"
I looked at my serial number sheet for the exam. I remembered what my sister told that even so, I cannot pair with a friend or classmate to work together. Luckily, I didn't have a friend or even see my classmate her since they all went off to their own high school of choice.
The screen behind our presenter lit up and showed three silhouettes with numbers from 1 to 3 and letter p next to each number.
"In the battlefield, there will be three obstacles you'll face! They'll be in different varieties, with points valued scaled according to difficulties!" Present Mic announced.
The screen changed to show a character in a red hat and blue overall attacking. "Each of you must use your Quirk, defeat as many Villains as possible as you can. Your goal, listeners, is to rack up as many points as possible and get a high score! Oh, and don't do anything against the rules or Anti-Heroic things! That's a big No-No, you know what I'm saying!"
"Excuse me, may I ask a question!?" Everyone and I turned our attention to glasses wearing man with his hand up in the air and then pointing his sheet with his finger. "You presented us there will be three obstacles when clearly that there are four printed on our hand-outs! Such an error like this would be an embarrassment to the very face of a top-tier national school of UA's caliber!"
This young man, I could tell that he was smart and very studious. Although, maybe a bit too studious.
He then turned and pointed his finger at the curly haired boy. "Moreover, you there! Can't you sit still for even a second?! Your distracting!"
The curly boy looked shocked and then sad. "Sorry…" He apologized as he sat down on his chair, looking very sobbed.
I felt kind of bad for him, but this was an exam, after all.
"Sorry, sorry!" Presenter Mic said. "But, be patient, listener and others who are concerned! There is a reason for this, and I shall explain it NOW! Auh!" The screen lit up, now showing the fourth obstacle. "There is also a fourth type of 'Villains' you'll encounter that only worths 0 points. They are what you would say in video game 'Arena Trap', so I best advise you to avoid these guys even though it is possible to defeat them, but it's not worth it!"
Another thing my sister said to me in preparation was about this. Even she encountered this fourth type of obstacles, but she also said to me that they may have updated the exam since her time, so even with her advice, there will still be surprises.
"Thank you very much, sir! Sorry for my interruptions!" The eyeglasses wearer bowed and sat back in his chair.
"Well, that's enough for me! I wish you all good luck, listeners! Say YEAH!" He shouted, but nobody replied. "PLUS ULTRA!"
As everyone splitting up, I saw the curly haired boy looking nervous.
'Hmmm…no time for me to worry about other.' I thought as I went to my designated meeting place.
-My Hero Academia-
When I arrived at one of the meeting places, I saw many kinds of examinees. There were some who looked big and buff while others who looked short and small. I even saw one girl with two rabbit ears on her head.
'There sure are a lot of examinees here,' I thought as I looked. 'Then again, this is U.A. High School entrance exam, after all. A lot of people joins, but the only small amount of people would pass the exam and a lot…who doesn't? I hope that maybe I can be one of the….'
"Hello!" I jumped, snapping out of my thoughts when the girl I mentioned was in front of me.
I tripped over and hit my back.
"Oh! Are you OK?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine…" I got back up, recovered.
"Sorry to surprise you, but I just want to talk with you a little because you look interesting!" She said with a smile at the end of her sentence.
"Ooookay…" I replied.
"Oh yeah! Duh! I forgot to introduce myself first!" She stuck her tongue out, making that one certain emoji look. "My name is Sakura Tsubomi, but you can call me Usagi!"
Usagi was a girl at my same height. She wore a standard pink shirt, short sleeves and with hoodie, and pair of short, blue jeans. She also wore red sneakers with unmatched colored socks.
"GO!" Present Mic shouted as everyone else already ran off.
"What the!? Hey, what's the big deal!?" Usagi yelled.
"Sorry, gal! Once I say GO, it's show time! You better hurry now!" Present Mic responded.
"Oh man! Well, see you later and talk to you later, bye!" She waved goodbye as she ran off and then hopped away.
"That was…weird, but anyway, I got to get going, too!" I thought aloud. I entered the replica city district, and I got to say, it looked impressive. It made me feel like I was in a real city.
My sister advised me to look for the enemies rather than wait for the enemies to come for you. It's best to find one under a little time limit, which was ten minutes in her exam. In my exam, the time limit was exactly that; ten minutes.
Luckily and sort of unfortunately for me, one enemy showed up and then detected me.
"Target Lock-on! Initiate counterattack!" The robot stated as it pointed laser gun at me and then fired. I reacted quickly enough to dodge.
"I got to destroy this thing quickly and find another one soon!" I said to myself as I mustered enough energy into my left fist and then punched my first "Villain".
After five minutes or so, I stacked up 80 points. Luckily (and unfortunately) I met and fought one enemy after another. There were other Quirk users around me, trying to find the next enemy to destroy, but I may have destroyed most of them.
"Hey, that kid there! I think he destroyed most of the Villains here!" shouted one guy.
"Yeah! I think you are right! Who is he!?" Another person complained.
"Kyaaaaaahh!" I heard a scream and then went to see what happened. That was when I saw it.
Usagi, the rabbit girl was stuck under a rumble by her foot. It looked like she was injured while she fought an enemy and speaking of the devil, there was it; the Zero-Point Valued Villain and it was huge!
"Damn it, sis! You didn't tell me that the 0-Point Villain is this huge!" I complained mentally to myself.
However, that wasn't the time for that. That girl, Usagi was in trouble and someone got to save her. The other examinees took the advice from Present Mic as they ran away to avoid the fight with the huge robotic behemoth.
I wanted to avoid the fight, but…
"Help! Someone! My foot got stuck in the rumble!" She cried.
Her cry for help made my heart sank, feeling a huge responsibility. As much as I wanted to avoid something like this to happen and let someone else does it, I had no other choice, but to help her.
I ran over to Usagi and tried to lift the huge object over her injured foot.
"Hey, it's…you!" She remembered.
"Yeah, it's me," I replied as I just successfully lifted off the rumble. "Can you walk?"
"No! Not really," she replied in pain.
I quickly carried her in bridal style and ran off away from the villain, but it chased after me as it had a target lock on us or more specifically, me!
"At this rate, I don't think I can outrun it!" I stated.
"Sure you can! Just run as fast as possible, like Speed Girl!" Usagi beamed.
"Wish I can run fast like my sister, but I don't have her Quirk running through my vein!" I remarked.
"Say what!? Your sister is Speed Girl!?" Usagi gasped.
I stopped and looked around, and then saw a good hiding place to put her. "Wait here. I will go and fight."
"Wait! You should just run! There's no point to fight that thing!" She yelled.
"It doesn't matter! That thing is still lock-on on us, so to make it leave us alone, I have to destroy it!" I responded.
She stared at me, looking admired as I face forward to the behemoth itself. The behemoth targeted on me and began firing its attack. I ran as fast as possible and then slid under it. Then, with all my might, I put all my power into my right fist as it glowed in bright red color.
"Kick this!" I punched so hard into the giant robot that it caused a huge explosion through the top of its head, causing the rest of its body to crumble into pieces.
Usagi and the others saw what I did with their mouth gaped open and their eyes looked like they would pop out of their sockets.
I came out of the fallen wrecks with some cuts and bruises, but still able to stand.
"Phew! At least that's over," I said.
"ANNNNNND Time Out! That is all, folks!" Present Mic announced. "And I got to say! I saw quite an impressive sight! Woohoo!"
Meanwhile, in some dark, private rooms, the examiners saw what we did in our practical exam.
"Well, well. It looks like we got some satisfactory results, more than what we expected for this year!" said one of them.
"Yes, indeed," said another person. "And, this boy here…" One of the screens zoomed at me. "This boy, Kai Uno, he is Captain Time and Space Girl's son."
"HA, HA, HA!" One figure laughed heartfully. He walked out of the shadow, revealing to be the very definition of bodybuilder and superhero. He had two yellow bangs sticking up for his hair and he smiled very wide.
"So, this is the famous Cosmic Duo's son, I see! I got to say! I'm IMPRESSED!" He said very over exaggeratingly as he pointed the screen with a thumb up.
"I told you, All Might! My little bro is strong!" Another mysterious shadow came out of the hiding. It revealed to be my older sister, who now wore a tight-skin silver and red suit, and a yellow mask over her eyes.
"You proved me, right, my good friend, Speed Girl! This year is gonna be SO MUCH FUN!" All Might exclaimed as he laughed very joyfully.
Speed Girl didn't pay too much attention to All Might, but she looked at the screen where I was being shown.
"Kai, my little brother, I'm very proud of you…You truly are a Hero, just like our parents," she thought as she smiled brightly.
For another whole week, I waited for the letter of acceptance (or deny) and on Saturday night, it arrived.
I looked at the letter with the official seal of the U.A. High School. I removed the seal and opened the envelope carefully. In it, there was only a small device, when suddenly, it projected a holographic image of the most unexpected person.
"HI LITTLE BRO!" The holographic version of my sister greeted me so loudly that I back-flipped over in my chair.
"Sis?!" I gasped.
"I know what you're thinking! You're very surprised that I'm the one who would say if you are accepted or not to UA High School," she said. "Well, to tell you the truth, I have a bad news for you…"
My heartbeat beeped faster when she said as I listened closely to her.
"You…. are accepted into the school! CONGRATULATIONS!" Random coffee popped in the holographic image, with a big word "CONGRATULATIONS" flared up before it turned back to my sister.
"You are officially a student at UA High School, little bro! Excellent job! The teachers were so impressed with your performance in your entrance exam, especially saving a fellow examine in peril! You're true Hero, kiddo! You earned 75 points for fighting, but you earned 60 for rescue points!"
Random noise of people applauding was heard in the hologram.
"Your mom and dad would be so proud of you, and they already got the message about it," she added. "Well, Kai. See you soon and welcome to UA High School!"
The hologram ended there, and all I did was just stare at it and think to myself. That was the day when my life really began, and where my feeling, my questions about heroism, began to grow bigger.
For everyone who favorited and followed this story, thank you very much! I can see some of you did it because you want to see more of it or just interested in it. I even noticed one familiar user, too!
In this chapter, our up and coming hero, Kai Uno is accepted into the UA High School! It is similar to how Deku accepted into the school. Next chapter will introduce his class! However, thing will be different from the anime or manga counterpart. That's right...there will be extra hero course, Class 1-L! And, I have a special HEROIC mission just for you all! It is SYOC contest! Class 1-L will be fictional hero course for this story that my main OC and other characters will be part of, and I would like to see some OC made by other people. Maybe one of your ideas for OC can join in!
So here is the submission rule and requirements:
1. Full Name
2. Hero Name
3. Gender
4. Nationality
5. Apperance (This includes height, skin color, eye color, hair color, hair style, and so forth! You can also make up the appearance based on the OC's Quirk)
6. Costume-Clothing (This is what they would look like in their Hero costume. Please be creative, original, and as descriptive as possible)
7. Personality (For this is straightforward, but I want it to be as detail as possible! Anything simple like "mediocre" or "sky" or even a loner are boring! Make it interesting)
8. Backstory (This one doesn't have to be over-complicated. It is fine if you want the backstory for the OC to be dark, but try to come up something not cliche. Originality is something worth trying!)
9. Quirk (Well, DUH! Of course this is required! Think of something that has not shown in the anime or manga before! Also, please have limitation. We don't have an OP Quirk, and everyone, no matter how strong they look, has some kind of weakness, even for All Might!)
10. Moves (To be honest, this can be optional if you don't know how to come up with a name of move. If you do want to, think of how it is used in what situation. Is it only for certain, specific situation or time? Or, very common thing? Again, think creative!)
Last but not least, make a character that you yourself like it! Even manga writers makes a great character that they don't like, and the only reason why that character is great is mostly due to the popularity by fans, such as Vegata from DBZ for example! The author always give Vegeta the hard times, if you happen to notice.
Before I forget, you can submit your OC in the review or PM! HOWEVER, once you submit it, you can only submit one character and ONLY one character! If you still feel you need to work on it, don't submit it until you find the OC just right for you! Remember to make yourself like your OC!
That is it for now. I will see you all soon, and go beyond!
ULTRA PLUS!
