WARNING: This story is DIFFERENT than my others. There is spanking involved. Don't hate just move along. Most of this comes from ideas that people send me, so if you have one go ahead and let me know!
FYI: Renesmee isn't developmentally the same as the one in the series, nor does she have the same power. Sorry! and ENJOY
This is a one-shot, sort of...part two will be up soon! :D
Bella and Edward looked at the clock, Renesmee would be coming in any second. Alice turned to them, "You guys look so worried! I'm sure Nessie will be fine."
Edward rubbed his neck, "Are we talking about the same Renesmee? I'm sure she'll think we're trying to ruin her."
Carlisle gave them an empathetic smile, "It's a job. Bella didn't intentionally plan this out to be closer to Renesmee, explain it to her, that's all you can do."
Bella brought her gaze up, "Carlisle's right Edward. We're the parents, Renesmee doesn't get to choose these things."
Esme nodded in agreement, "Nessie's a big girl. She'll be okay."
Edward knew they were right, but he hated to see his little girl upset. He loved her too much. His daughter's wide eyes could make him melt at any moment. He sighed heavily, then turned to Bella, "Well I guess you're taking the job then."
Just as they were talking Renesmee stepped into the Cullen home. After school if she wasn't with Jacob she was with Esme and Carlisle, "Grandpa, I'm here!" She called as she opened the door. Carlisle smiled at her jovial voice, "In the dining room sweetie." He said in a cool and even tone. He turned to her parents, "We were supposed to go hunting today. I was going to teach her a thing or two, but we can always reschedule." He walked out towards the living room, when Renesmee saw him she ran towards him and he scooped her up in his arms, "Whoah there pumpkin, slow down now." She laughed and gave him a kiss on the cheek, "Ready to go teach me a thing or two?" Carlisle loved Renesmee she showed her emotions more than anyone. She was….the most human. She noticed the frown form on his face and she knew something wasn't right.
"Well it looks like we have a change of plans." He said.
Her excitement fell. He walked the few short steps back to the dining room with Renesmee still in his arms, "Mom? Dad?" She said once they got there. Bella's heart warmed at the sight of her daughter clinging onto her grandpa. Carlisle put her down. "What're you doing here?" She asked genuinely confused, "Did something happen? Do you guys have to go away?"
Renesmee was always worried about her parents and their involvement with the Volturi. She knew a great part of their problem was the fact that they even decided to have her in the first place.
Bella saw the growing anxiety in Renesmee's face, "No honey, no. Don't worry, sit down dad and me have something to tell you."
Renesmee studied everyone's face, they all looked a little apprehensive. She turned to her grandma, "Grandma?"
Esme motioned her to sit down, "Sit down Nes, you're not in trouble."
Reluctantly Renesmee sat down in the chair. The chairs always made her look so small because they were so big, which she hated.
Bella took a deep breath, "Sweetie you know how I've been looking for work?"
Renesmee nodded, "Yeah as an English teacher."
"Well they offered me a job."
Renesmee's eyes widened in excitement, "Really mom?! Where? That's so cool!"
"Well, at your school actually, as the eighth grade literature teacher."
Edward chimed in, "They're really excited to have your mother Nes."
Renesmee moved in the chair, sitting up more alertly, "Are you, are you serious?" She asked.
Bella nodded in affirmation,
"But my school is so small! You'll always be watching me! Was this planned or something?" The barrage of question started coming, so Alice put a hand on Renesmee's shoulder, "Nessie let your mother and father finish."
This was one of those times that Bella wished the family wasn't so close, and she could just talk to Renesmee in private, but she let that thought go for the moment. She gave Alice a small approving glance and then back to her daughter, "Nessie it just worked out that way. I'm going to go about my business and you can do the same. I promise."
Edward saw the pout on his daughter's face, "Your mother is going to accept the job."
She took a deep breath in resignation. After all, she knew how much her mom wanted this, and she wasn't going to be the one to say no, "And I'm guessing this is more of a 'you better get with the program 'cause I'm doing it whether or not you want me to?' type of conversation?"
Edward gave her a small smile, "Exactly." Bella chuckled at her daughter's comment, "Nes...are you upset?" She asked her daughter, whose downcast eyes she knew were staring at her small clenching fists in her lap.
She shrugged, "I want you to be happy."
…. … …
It had been a month since Bella started working at the school. She started the second semester, and the students all really liked Bella since she was young and beautiful. Renesmee being in sixth grade didn't get too much flack from her peers for having her mom working there since they didn't have her as a teacher.
Bella and Renesmee walked into school together. Renesmee rummaging through her backpack. Bella turned to her, "Nes did you forget something?"
She shook her head, "No mom." She said still looking through her bag. "Sweetie if you forgot something just tell me. We can get someone to drop it off."
Renesmee stopped looking through, "No it's okay. I just, I was looking for my chapstick."
Bella looked at her strangely. She was about to say something but heard someone call Renesmee's name, "NES! Come here!" Renesmee turned and saw a couple of her friends motioning to her excitedly, "See ya later mom!" She said as she headed towards them, Bella sighed, "Bye baby."
Renesmee ran towards her friends, "Hey guys!"
Ashley smiled at her, "Hey! Is my stuff in your backpack?"
She nodded, "Yeah, I don't know why you want me to keep hiding your dumb cigarettes."
Ashley smirked, "They're not dumb Nes! And my mom's been onto me, so I can't keep them.I'll let you try one at lunch if you want."
Renesmee froze up. She knew her parents strictly forbade her from alcohol and smoking. "Ummm." She responded.
Ashley gave her a small push, Come on! I think we've all tried it once. Just try it, it's not gonna kill you, I promise."
Renesmee thought for a second, "With my luck, we'll get caught."
"We won't" Ashley assured her.
When it came time for lunch the girl went to the field far from everyone to smoke a cigarette. Renesmee felt guilty, but at the same time it felt nice to do something she's seen so many adults do. She took the cigarette and smoked a good amount until she started to cough violently, "God that's disgusting." She said. Ashley took it from her hands, "You just don't appreciate it!" She started smoking the cigarette, meanwhile Renesmee felt sick to her stomach, "I wanna throw up. That was so gross." She mumbled.
"I agree with Nes. I can't stand them."
Ashley rolled her eyes, "Alright. Alright. Whatever then." She put out the cigarette and sat down on the grass, "Did you guys watch the new Fosters episode? It was so GOOD!" She said beginning the start of a very lively conversation. By the end of lunch Ashley handed her pack of cigarettes back to Renesmee. "Thanks Nes. You're the only one whose parents wouldn't kill her if they found out."
Renesmee laughed nervously, knowing that was totally not the case. They had no idea that just two months ago she was spanked and then promptly put to bed like a five year old.
Chelsea looked at her, "Yeah Nes, my parents are so old, you have pretty cool parents...and a handsome dad."
"EEEEWWW! That's my dad you perv." Renesmee responded being rocked out of her thoughts.
Chelsea laughed, "I'm just saying!"
…. …. …..
Renesmee listened to her teacher drone on. What she was learning came easy to her so she didn't have to put half as much effort as her peers. She let her mind wander and she thought of the cigarettes that she'd been hiding for Ashley for two weeks already. She didn't mind keeping them, but now the temptation of trying them ended because her stomach was upset and her mouth still had the aftertaste. She then started thinking of Jacob, "I should go with him after school." She thought as a smile crossed her face. The ringing bell rocked her thoughts. She started to pack up, but her teacher had her stop, "Hey Chelsea, Ashley, and Renesmee can I talk to you three for a bit?" All three of them felt their heart stop. Ms. Gonzales waited for her students to file out then turned to the three girls in front of her. Chelsea and Ashley looked visibly scared, while Renesmee seemed the calmest out of all of them.
"Girls." She said sternly. They all looked at her. She got closer and bent to their level, "I'm a bit concerned. Why do you three smell like cigarette smoke?"
Ashley and Chelsea instantly looked down, but Renesmee still kept looking at Ms. Gonzales. "Renesmee Cullen, do you have something to say?" Renesmee blinked, "Are you accusing us of something? Because I believe the accusing party has burden of proof, and unfortunately Ms. Gonzales, your evidence is a little weak." Her friends stared at her like she was crazy. Ms Gonzales put her hand on her hip, taken aback by her student's boldness, "Well Ms. Cullen, fortunately for me school is not a court, and the rules here are a little different. I suspect you three were smoking during lunch, and now I'm gonna send you three to the principal's office."
Their eyes went wide, but Renesmee wouldn't give in, "No."
Ashley saw Ms. Gonzales getting angrier and angrier, so she stopped Renesmee from continuing, "We'll go Ms. Gonzales!" She said in an effort to protect her friend, "We'll go right now."
Ms. Gonzales wrote them a note, directing them to the office. The three of them walked out with an on duty teacher right behind them. "Can I go to the restroom?" Renesmee asked. "Not now." She said.
Renesmee stopped walking, "Please, please. I can't hold it." She lied. Reluctantly the teacher agreed. Quickly, she made her way to the restroom and threw away the cigarettes. 'How do I get out of this?' She thought to herself. She knew her parents were going to kill her, or worse, spank her. The thought almost made her burst into tears. The normally headstrong Renesmee melted at the thought of being over one of her parent's knees. She pulled herself together and headed into the office. Ashley was already in the office and Chelsea was sitting on the other side. It seemed like an eternity but she saw Chelsea's father come in and sit next to her, then Ashley's mother who was directed into the office. Renesmee squirmed in her seat. She turned to the receptionist, "Excuse me, did you call my parents?" She asked confused as to why they weren't there. The receptionist smiled and nodded, "Your mother will be coming in shortly, she's teaching right now, and your father seems to be unavailable."
'Hunting.' Renesmee thought.
She laid back on the chair. She heard Chelsea whisper to her dad, "Daddy I didn't do anything, I promise." Her father scolded her, "Chelsea Dean you are in so much trouble, and I hope for your sake that you're telling me the truth." He said with no regard for who heard. Renesmee saw Chelsea blush instantly, her fair skin betraying her. Renesmee sat up, "Umm sir?" She said quietly. Chelsea's father turned to her, "Yes, Renesmee?" She gulped, "Chelsea didn't do anything, I promise. Don't get mad at her. You shouldn't yell at your daughter in public like that." His eyes widened, "Young lady, first of all I did not yell. Second of all, you are a child, don't you dare tell me what to do. Are these the manners that your parents taught you? I thought the Cullens were the epitome of high society? Now you stay in that chair and stay quiet." He commanded her. Feeling stupid Renesmee shrunk into the chair, putting her legs up onto it. Suddenly, having her mom next to her sounded like a good idea.
Soon after, Ashley was being escorted out by her mother, her hand on Ashley's shoulder, and Ashley walked forward hiccuping and wiping tears from her face with the back of her hand. Renesmee looked at her pleadingly, wondering what she told the principal. Next was Chelsea. "Come on Chels." Her father said. "I don't wanna go in! I'm sorry daddy!" He bent down sighing, and stood her up, his demeanor softened dramatically after Renesmee's words of wisdom, "Chels, we have to do this." She nodded unwillingly and he grabbed her hand.
Renesmee hoped to God she wouldn't embarrass herself the way her friends just did. 'They are way too emotional.' She thought. When she heard the bell ring she knew her fate was sealed, her mom was on her way into the office. It wasn't even three minutes when Bella came in through the doors. She was calm as she searched for Renesmee. When she found her she sat next to her, but not one word came out of her mouth. In reality she was absolutely furious with her daughter. Renesmee didn't know what to do, so she just hung her head and looked at her lap…"Umm, mom?" She said quietly. Bella wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, after all, it was all speculation, but by the looks...and smell of it, something happened. She put her finger to her lips, signaling her to be quiet. Renesmee complied feeling guilty as ever. Chelsea came out still holding her father's hand, looking a bit more relieved.
"You're up Nes." The receptionist said. Renesmee, not waiting for her mom, made her way in with Bella right behind her.
"Take a seat ladies." The principal signaled to them.
"Mrs. Cullen." She said looking to Bella, "Your daughter, as you know, was quite possibly smoking on school property. Now that is grounds for suspension." Bella nodded, "I understand." He turned to Renesmee, "Now, young lady, your friends have told me their side of the story. I suggest you tell me the truth, understood?"
She nodded, "Yes Mr. Litz."
"Now, did you or did you not smoke on school grounds?" He said looking straight at her. Bella turned to look at her daughter, her features were so strong. Her eyes piercing against her fair skin, but her small frame gave away her young age. Anxiously Bella waited for the answer, but Renesmee stayed quiet. Mr. Litz looked at Bella.
"Renesmee Alice Cullen, answer the question." Bella said sharply.
She took a deep breath, "No." The moment it came out of her mouth, she immediately regretted it. Mr. Litz sighed, "Ashley and Rachel both said you did at least try the cigarette. One more time did you or did you not have a cigarette?"
Renesmee wanted to disappear, "Okay, okay yes!"
Bella's whole demeanor fell, she couldn't believe it, her baby only just turned 12.
Mr. Litz nodded, "Now Ashley admitted they were hers, but that you were keeping them safe for her. Is that true?"
Suddenly the image of Renesmee looking frantically in her bag that morning came to Bella's mind. Renesmee frowned, "Yes sir."
Mr. Litz looked at Bella, "Mrs. Cullen I trust you will talk to your daughter about this?" Bella nodded, "Of course."
"You're a great teacher, I'm sure you're just a great a mother. Suspension will be for a week. This is effective immediately."
Renesmee grabbed the arms of the chair, "Can I go now?"
He nodded, "Before you do, Renesmee, let me warn you, you're a smart girl, very smart, but don't let those britches get too big because your intelligence is what will get you into trouble as well." She knew he was talking about her spat with Ms. Gonzales, "Okay Mr. Litz" With that Renesmee and Bella walked out. "Let's go." Bella said grabbing Renesmee's hand. "Mom I'm sorry!" Renesmee whispered as they walked out, Acting as if she didn't hear her, Bella spoke up, "You smell like smoke. You have some gym shorts and a t shirt in the car. You're going to get out of those clothes and change this instant. I called your Aunt Rosalie to come pick you up."
Renesmee felt herself being dragged to the car, "Mom I want to stay with you!" She begged, that way she wouldn't catch the wrath of her father. "I still have two more classes to teach, Renesmee. You're going with Rosalie."
When they reached the car Bella took out the clothes and gave it to her.
"Mom, I-"
Bella interrupted, "Go into the restroom and change. I'll wait here. Your Aunt Rosalie is waiting."
Renesmee looked over at her Aunt in the car, who gave her a small smile, and then back at her mother. She stomped her foot, "MOM! Stop dictating and listen to me!"
In a second Bella grabbed Renesmee's arm,
"Mom what are you doing?!" She squirmed. Bella swatted her twice, "Go. NOW."
Angry now, Renesmee talked back, "I wanna go with Jacob, not Aunt Rosalie! I don't want to stay with the dumb family!"
Bella took a deep breath restraining herself, "You will NOT go with Jacob. I forbid it. Now, I'm giving you 'til the count of three to stop being a rude smart alec and start moving, unless you want to get spanked right here…..1." Renesmee didn't move, "2!"
Renesmee, not wanting to see if her mom would carry out her threat scowled at her mother then turned around and headed into the restroom. This gave Bella a chance to decompress, she went over to Rosalie's car, "Rosalie take her before I " She put her hands together, "UGH!" She said angrily.
Rosalie chuckled, "So this is motherhood, huh?"
Bella ran a hand through her hair, "She lied. She looked us straight in the eyes and lied! She's been hiding cigarettes for a friend, and it's not like she was ever planning on telling us! I just,"
Rosalie put a hand on Bella, "Oh love, calm down this isn't helping you or anybody. Go back into school, go finish the day off. Edward will get home soon."
Bella's face went from anger to concern, "No wait. Have Edward come to the school after he hunts. I don't want him reading her thoughts. It's best if I'm there with him. I need to protect her...as mad as I am.." She mumbled that last part.
Rosalie smiled, "Will do. Looks like the criminal's all ready to go."
Bella turned and saw her daughter coming closer, she was holding her stomach, it was still a little upset.
"That's what cigarettes does to you." Bella remarked. Renesmee glared at her, still embarrassed for having gotten swatted in public. "Don't you get mad at me Renesmee Alice, you go into that car and think about what you did. I'm so disappointed in you."
Renesmee's glare broke. She looked at her mother more softly, "I'm sorry momma."
Bella saw her daughter's wet eyes and sincerity, losing her resolve for a moment, and letting her maternal instincts kick in, she brought her daughter in for a hug, "I know Nessie, but that doesn't fix things...Now do as I say and go with Auntie Rosalie." She patted her back and let her go. Bella watched as they drove away then rushed back to her classroom.
Rosalie looked over at the angry 12 year old in the passenger seat. Her arms folded over tightly. "So you got caught, huh?"
Renesmee turned towards the window, "I don't wanna talk about it with you Auntie."
Rosalie smirked, "Hmmm, works for me. I'm not the one that's gonna get in trouble anyways." Renesmee's frown just grew wider, "Great, you too now."
"Yes, me too. I don't think I appreciate my 11-"
"12!" Renesmee said.
"My 12 year old niece smoking and sneaking around from her parents."
She rolled her eyes, "Can we not talk about this?"
Rosalie smiled, "Sure thing little lady, by the way your mom wants you to go straight to your room once we get home. You're not to come out. Understood?"
Renesmee's eyes widened in indignance, "What, like a stupid time out?!"
Rosalie turned to her, "Would you prefer the corner? Because I can sit you down in a corner if that's what you want? So make a decision."
Renesmee closed her mouth and thought back to her friends, wondering how they'd be disciplined.
Rosalie took her silence for compliance, "That's what I thought." She said.
Once they got to the Cullen household, Renesmee knew that the whole can was there. Rosalie saw the worry in her eyes, "Your dad's not here. Don't worry. He's hunting with your grandpa."
She didn't answer. Rosalie sighed as she waited for her to get out, but it was to no avail, so she took the keys out of the ignition and then went over and opened Renesmee's door, "Come on Nessie, are you just going to sulk in here?"
Renesmee shrugged, "Mom's being mean." She stated simply.
Rosalie chuckled at her childish statement. Renesmee was an outright genius in academics, but emotions were another story. "Nes, I think she's just upset. I actually applaud her for her restraint."
That caused Renesmee to turn and look at her Aunt.
"Now let's go. Unless you want me to call Uncle Emmett to come and get you."
Reluctantly, Renesmee unfastened her seatbelt and went inside. When they went in Jasper and Emmett had their hands folded over and gave her a disapproving look. While Alice gave her a sympathetic smile. Renesmee looked down avoiding their looks. 'They all know.' She thought.
Esme walked over to where they were, "Renesmee come to me please." Not wanting to get into further trouble she nervously went up to her grandma, "Y-yes?" She said looking up at her. Esme bent her knees and pointed at Renesmee. Her eyes looking straight at her, which unnerved the small girl, "I don't ever want to hear about this happening again. I'm not punishing you, because it's not my job, but know that nobody in this room is even slightly happy with you right now. Is that understood?"
Renesmee's lips quivered and her eyes began to brim with tears. "Yes m'am. Understood." Not bothering to comfort her because she was to angry Esme stood back up, "Good."
Renesmee stood there not knowing what to do. Her face looked like it'd crumple at any moment. "Rosalie patted her bottom, "Go upstairs now, sweetheart. One of us will bring you something to eat."
Obediently she ran upstairs trying to avoid the coldness and glares from her family. Rosalie frowned as she watched her go up, then went over and scolded the boys, "Can you two stop! She already feels horrible, and doesn't need the judgement of her uncles!"
Emmett scoffed, "I'm sure you scolded her in the car."
"Yes, but I'm not a big muscular man" then she turned to Jasper, "Or a guy with a perpetual frown on his face!"
Jasper's usual serious look turned even more serious at Rosalie's remark, "Gee, thanks." He responded. Alice sat down worried for her niece, "She's just so, so human. It boggles my mind. This is new territory for all of us."
"You mean we wouldn't be dumb enough to make a mistake like that."
Alice glared at her, "It's not her fault Rosalie. Keep in mind she is more human than vampire, that means she'll make decisions unlike any of us ever would."
Jasper grabbed Alice's hand and kissed it, "Let's just hope Edward and Bella keep that in mind." Emmett chimed in.
Esme sighed heavily. Emmett looked over, "Feel bad for what you said?"
She frowned, "She's our little girl, of course I do." Everyone let the situation sink in.
Hope y'all liked it! Please review and I'll keep on writing. The more, the better! :D But yes, let me know what you think! And any ideas are welcome, I'll choose the ones to implement that I like best.
