It took a bit of a ride to get there, but they made it there. The observatory. James kept his eyes out the window, looking at the place that his aunt works at. The building that he always loved visiting throughout his childhood. He smiled, looking at the sight of it, before he and Rhonda were able to get off of the bus. The couple got off of the bus, and headed into the grassland area of BosSim.
The two of them headed through the entrance of the park, heading down the dirt path to the observatory. Once the goth got up to the door, he was the first to knock on the door, waiting for his aunt to answer the door for him and his girlfriend.
He blinked a couple times, waiting for his aunt to answer the door. There wasn't really any sort of sign that his aunt near the door, so the boy tried once again. When he did so, he heard footsteps inside the observatory, which he can only hope is his aunt. The boy stepped back from the door, and waited, until somebody opened the door.
The woman appeared to be around the age in seventies and eighties, has gray hair in a bun with a couple planets designed on her headband, glasses, a brown jacket with a dark blue dress with a couple yellow stars designed on it, and brown shoes. She stood in front of the door, looking down and up at the boy that was standing right there in front of the observatory. She instantly recognized her own nephew, standing right in front of her door.
"Oh, James. I almost didn't recognize you." Nova said, smiling at her nephew. James smiled, looking at his aunt. "What brings you here?"
"To visit you and Rhonda. What else?" James said, smiling at his aunt. "Also...I was hoping that you'd probably help me out with something..." James said, scratching the back of his neck. "It's about...recent events..." He said more slower and nervously. Nova taps her chin, blinking a couple times.
"I see." Nova looks over to Rhonda, who was crossing her arms. "How about you come inside already so that we can talk about it, my boy?" It was agreed on. So the couple followed the space lover into her observatory so that the goth can explain what has happened back in his hometown.
Inside the observatory...
It was a standard interior of any good observatory. There was the telescope from above, as expected. There was a couple maps of space, from where the planets are located, to where the stars are, to even where the constellations would be. There were some bookshelves on the walls, and there was even a pictures of the planets at some parts of the walls.
Rhonda couldn't say she's been in the observatory before, even knowing that her boyfriend's aunt works in it. She just passed by, thinking nothing of it. Seeing the inside of this place, she really should visit places that are not related to her own workplace sometimes.
"I'm just going to let you two talk. I got to use the bathroom." Rhonda said to the two by the stools at one table. Nova nodded.
"It's right down the hallway. Third door to the left." Nova said to the Italian tomboy.
"Thanks."
Rhonda walks off into the hallway to go and find the bathroom. James sat down on the stool, placing his backpack on the other one to his left. Across from the table he was sitting at, Professor Nova sat down across from her nephew. Once the two got settled, the older one of the two spoke up, starting the conversation.
"About the recent events situation you brought up outside..." Nova started. "...What is that about? Did something else happen in Simport that I'm unaware of? Or did Crystal attempt to steal leadership from Winter?" James scoffs hearing that being said.
"Even keeping that secret, I don't think you'd be spoke to hear that's what Crystal would be doing." James said, in a joking manner. He then lowered his smile into a serious frown. "But...no...that's not why I came all the way out here to talk to you, Aunt Nova. You see...me and Winter talked it out a bit...and with everything that has happened...the goths going to jail, to Goth Boy starting that fight in the coffee shop, to even...Yuki stabbing somebody in her shoulder, and landing herself in court..." James shook his head, sighing. "...I feel...or felt, I mean...I felt like now that all that has happened, I feel like maybe it would be best to just...quit being apart of that group..." Nova frowned hearing that.
"Oh no...and by the sound of Winter coming back to the group, from the last call you gave me, it sounded like things would've gotten better for you."
"I...know...but I just felt like with all that has happened, I felt like maybe I should go and...find out where my future lands at..." He shrugs. "I mean, after all...I am the exact age that I would go to college, and...truthfully...I really have no idea with what to do with my future. I can't be in that group forever..." He shrugged again. "Hell, I didn't really feel like the type of person to actually be goth deep down. I always felt like a geeky person instead."
Professor Nova taps the table, hearing all of this being said to her. She knew that her nephew was apart of the goths, back when he was in the ninth grade, and the fact that he ran into Goth Boy was a mere coincidence, all because James stumbled upon Ray and Blaine in the hallways of Royal Academy. Goth Boy came into the boy's life, and ever since he was in the goths, he felt neglected, aside from a couple friends, like Violet and her boyfriend, of course. But for the most part, James would hide inside the broken shed in the back of the junkyard, just to read some of the comic books. Even then, during meetings, nobody in the goths would go find him to inform him about it.
"Most mean well to me, and I'm happy I've found a couple mates in there." James said. "But...still...I just...want to go my own way now. Find my own future. Ray's doing the exact same thing as I am, now that he's off going to college."
"Did you decide college?" The space lover asked. James frowned.
"I...don't really know what to do with my future. I don't want to be lazy my entire life." Nova gave her nephew a smile.
"Well, you're here on vacation now, my nephew. For now, I'd probably keep some ideas in mind if you think of any. For now, why don't you just unwind for a bit." James nods at his aunt's words.
"Thanks Aunt Nova."
"Your welcome."
Off in the hallway...
Rhonda was just finishing up in the bathroom. She walks out of the bathroom, and then headed back down the hall to go back to the main area of the building. But before she could go to the main room once again, she accidentally bumps her foot on a pile books that were by the wall unknowingly. She looks down, taking notice of the books down were by her feet.
"Dang it..." Rhonda mutters, before kneeling down to the books that were scattered all over the floor.
She piled up the books once again, only to take notice of a piece of paper that was sticking out of one of the books. The tomboy raises an eyebrow, looking down at the paper that was on the floor, and then picks it up. To her surprise, it was a note from somebody that she wasn't so aware of.
'Dear Nova, I've been giving it some thought for a very long time. Considering that you've made a complete fool out of me back at the ski lodge out of the Rocky Mountains, I feel it's my need to go and get this observatory replaced with a water bottle factory instead. So, if you're not going to give up this building, and move to another spot, I'll have the mayor involved, bringing you to court. So, if you want to keep yourself from anything like that, I'd advise you go and find a different place to live in. From, Preston Winthrop.' The note said.
Rhonda blinked a couple times, looking at the paper. She didn't know how to take a note like this. Nor by the looks of it, James probably wasn't aware of this happening at all. Does he? Rhonda stood up, keeping the note in her hands. She walked off to go talk to James and Nova about this.
The tomboy walked out of the hallway, keeping the note behind her back as she exited the room. James and Professor Nova looked over to see that Rhonda was coming over to the table. Once Rhonda approached the table, she pulled out the note, and showed it to them, causing a confused look to come out of James, while a shocked look comes out of Nova.
"How...how did you find that note?" Professor Nova asked in shock.
"I kicked a pile of books by accident, and...this was what came out..." Rhonda said. James took the note, looking at it, reading it over. "I didn't want to accuse you of anything, but...who is this Preston Winthrop guy that was giving you that note?" James blinked a couple times, seeing this is shocking to him. He too, knew about this Preston person.
"Preston Winthrop..." James said, placing the note down on the table. "...He's somebody my aunt had difficulties back in 2010 at the ski lodge. He attempted to frame somebody there by destroying a couple skis...and was thought to be kidnapped by...as crazy as it already sounds, a yeti. Apparently, he wasn't really much of a nice mate." James looked over to his aunt, raising an eyebrow. "...Aunt Nova, why didn't you say anything about this to me? This observatory, it's...it's been apart of our lives for so long." Nova sighed in sadness, looking at the note, before placing it into her jacket.
"I didn't know how you would take it." Nova said to her nephew. "I just wanted to handle Preston on my own, since I know two people from the SPA Agency who could try to claim that Preston's intention's are out of malice." She closed her eyes, shaking her head.
James looks at the table, shaking his head in sadness at the fact that this was really happening. A family enemy like Preston was really coming back into his aunt's life, just to screw her over. And during the day her own nephew comes to town to try to have a vacation here. Who would've thought? He didn't want this to happen, nor was he going to let this happen. He stood up, looking at his aunt.
"Aunt Nova, it might sound ridiculous, but if it's not too late to try to talk circles around him, I could try to talk to Preston." James said. The two other girls shook their heads in shock at that being said.
"What?!" Professor Nova shouts.
"Maybe...I can try to change his mind. I mind, maybe somebody from the family could try to talk to him instead..."
"James, I know you want to help. But please, believe me, dear. You don't know Preston like I do." She sighed, shaking her head, placing her hands on her hips. "You don't know what you're really dealing with when it comes to Preston Winthrop."
"Aunt, from the way you brought him up to me, it's clear he's nothing more but a huge jerk." James held up his hands in defense. "I'm not going to go insane around him, nor will fight him. I'm...just wanting to talk with him."
"James. Don't try to turn this into an argument." She sighed. "I know you want to help, sweetie. But I am not going to just...let my own nephew go out there, and most likely be...getting himself into an indirect fist fight or so, with a completely...completely ungrateful, and despicable person." She held onto her nephew's shoulders. "Please...just don't get yourself involved. For the sack of this family." James frowned.
"I won't, Aunt Nova."
"Thank you."
By the time the conversation about Preston was done, it was nighttime already. James looked over to Rhonda, who was still standing there. James walked over to his girlfriend, placing his hands in his jacket pockets, and then talking to her.
"It's...getting pretty late, Rhonda." James said to the Italian tomboy. "I think both of us should go off to our homes now. Or, if you want, my aunt has another guest room aside from the one I sleep in. So...what do you think?" Rhonda shrugs.
"I wish I could, but I have business to keep running back at my restaurant." Rhonda said. "I'll see you around tomorrow, alright sweetie?" James nods.
"Alright."
The two kissed each other, before Rhonda headed out of the observatory. Professor Nova and James went off into two different rooms so that they could finally go and sleep. For James tomorrow was going to be some sort of day for him.
