Chapter 1
It had been eleven days Ophelia Ann Eunice, more commonly known by her friends as Elia, had gone missing from her tent after a sold out show. Waking up, the blonde haired girl didn't know how much time had passed, or where she was for that matter. All she knew was that she was somewhere in a forest that she had never seen.
Ophelia groaned sitting up and rubbing her head to try and dismiss the growing headache before looking around. That was when she realized that she was not alone.
Isabella couldn't believe Scott had called a pack meeting so early in the morning right before school started. She was human after all. Speaking of being human, the girl looked over at the other human in the pack, Stiles Stilinski.
She had become quick friends with the spastic boy seeing as how his dad is Sheriff of Beacon Hills while her brother was a deputy. Isabella or Izzy, had run into him while visiting her brother at the station and that was the start of their friendship.
"Scott, why are we out here so early? Shouldn't you be sleeping, so you can be awake during Lacrosse practice or something?" she asked the True Alpha.
Yes, she knew about the supernatural. But, it was only because Stiles couldn't keep his mouth shut around her and eventually told her everything. From when Scott was first turned to Scott having to bite Liam to save his life.
Scott only chuckled at the girl's whining, "Because Bella, we think the dread doctors might have been experimenting on some kids from school so the best place to start looking first would be the preserve and before school starts" he tells her.
Isabella only groaned in response but, kept quiet. When it was time to split up, to cover more ground, Izzy went with Malia, Lydia and Corey while Scott took Stiles, Liam and Mason with him.
"Find anything, alert the other half" Scott spoke.
Everyone nodded their heads before splitting up. Soon it wasn't long till the group of girls and one boy found something. Or more like someone.
"You guys stay here, I'll find the others and tell them what we've found" Malia said before taking off running.
She soon returned with the Alpha and the others, Stiles lagging behind since he wasn't supernatural. Scott carefully approached the girl on the floor.
"Are you okay?" he asked gently when he noticed that she was awake.
Ophelia jumped when she heard voices, and when the person came towards her she screamed.
"No! Stop! Stay away, don't hurt me again!" Tears started streaming down the girl's face as she tried to move away from the group.
Scott looked back at his pack. Lydia walking up to the girl, carefully.
"Whoa whoa, we aren't going to hurt you" she said calmly.
Lydia carefully knelt down next to the girl, looking her over.
"What do you think Lydia?" Isabella asked the Banshee.
"I think she's one of the experiments of the Dread Doctors." Lydia said.
"Corey, go talk to her" Scott tells the Chimera.
Corey nodded his head and walked up to the girl on the forest floor.
"Hi, I'm Corey. We aren't going to hurt you. But, we believe you're something like me. A chimera of sorts. These things called Dread Doctors kidnapped you and changed something in you. We aren't them" he tells her.
The girl looks at the group around her with wide eyes. She had no clue where she was the last thing she could remember was… the show, a full house. Wait no, that wasn't it. She was in a room. On a table there was someone in a mask standing above her doing some kind of operation. It hurt. And then she was somewhere else.
"W-what happened t-to me?" Her voice was stuttering as she looked back at the kids again, this time getting a better look. What kind of clothes were they wearing? She had never seen anything like that before. She had never seen this place before.
"You've been experimented on. The Dread Doctors like to take teens and alter their DNA however they seem fit. Do you know what you can do? How you're DNA was altered?" Scott explained before asking.
"Are you the only one or were there others?" Stiles piped up.
"O-others?" The grey eyed girl asked in confusion before her face morphed into one of almost comical realization.
Rather than saying anything else though, the girl just frowned. She felt a little bit overwhelmed, not only from the new world, but also from the amount of people standing around her. Plus, her headache was only growing, and her head was throbbing now. It had been a while since she had had a migraine. Ophelia had thought that they had ended when she ran away. Clearly not.
"Stiles, there are time for questions later. Lets take her to Deaton and then see her after school" Scott said.
The others nodded their heads in agreement. Scott walked up to the girl and picked her up in his arms.
"We're going to take you to a safe place okay?" he tells her as everyone walked out of the preserve.
"Scott…what if there are others?" Isabella asked the Alpha.
"We'll have to look for them after school." he tells her.
Isabella nodded her head before walking over to Lydia's car. She, Malia, Corey and Mason got into Lydia's car while Liam and Scott went with the new girl in Stiles' Jeep.
"Lydia, take everyone home and catch whatever sleep you can before school starts. We'll take the girl to Deaton and we'll meet up in school to talk" Scott tells the Banshee.
Lydia nodded her head before driving away, Stiles then did the same only driving in the opposite direction. Soon the blue Jeep pulled up to the vet's office and Scott went inside with the girl. He made Stiles drive home and take Liam with him.
"Deaton?" Scott called when he walked in the building, through the back door.
He set the girl down on the medical table, "Do you have a name?" he finally asks.
Ophelia looks around the room in confusion, accidentally ignoring Scott until she realizes that he had asked a question. "Ophelia."
The blonde remains distracted as she looks around some more being getting off of the cold metal table. It reminded her too much of the experiments the... what had he said they were called... the dread doctors had done on her and her friends. "W-w-where am I?"
"Hi Ophelia. My name is Scott" he tells her.
He watched her get off the table, "A veterinarian's office. But Deaton's a friend who helps me and my pack out. He's going to look after you while me and the others are at school" he explained to her.
Deaton walked in at that time, "Hey Scott. Who's this?" the vet asked.
"This is Ophelia, we believe she's a Chimera. We found her in the woods this morning. I thought I drop her off while me and the rest of the pack are at school" he explained.
Deaton looked at the girl who was standing around, looking around in confusion.
"Alright, you go on ahead. I'll see you and the pack after school" he said, shooing Scott out.
"See you later Ophelia, and you can trust Deaton" Scott tells the girl before leaving.
Ophelia watches the alpha leave. She wasn't so sure she trusted him, much less this Deaton person. She stops looking around, satisfied that she had found enough exits for if she had to run. She then focuses back on the vet to see what he was going to say.
She scratches lightly at the gloves on her hands, but she wasn't alone, so she couldn't take them off. Because of that, she just continued to fidget with them subconsciously.
Deaton looked the girl over before he realized something that stood out.
"You're not from here are you?" he asked.
He noticed that Ophelia was wearing clothes that weren't in fashion sense anymore.
The blonde shook her head. She had seen a sign on the way there that had told her she was somewhere in California called Beacon Hills. "Florida."
As she spoke, the girl stopped messing with her fingerless gloves. It was a habit that her dad has always hated despite the fact that he was the one who made her wear them.
To stop the fidgeting, the girl put her hands behind her back and instead started biting her lower lip.
"I meant, you aren't from this time are you?" Deaton asked.
He then noticed that the girl was fidgeting with her gloves before hiding her hands behind her back.
"Are...are you different?" He asked her.
"It's okay, you can trust me. I've seen a lot of interesting things" he tells her.
Ophelia's eyes widened when the doctor asked if she was different. He hadn't said freak, but once they knew, they always treated her different. Always hated her.
Then, the girl registered what he had said about a different time. "N-no, Sir. 1952, j-just like everyone e-else."
"1952?! I'm sorry miss but its 2016" Deaton said.
He was confused. Since when did the Dread Doctors time travel.
"Did anyone else come with you or are you alone?" He asked.
"Elsa, Bett and Dot, J-Jimmy, and Dell," the girl stuttered softly. She didn't normally stutter, but she was terrified right now and that was affecting her speech. "But it c-can't be 2016. Yesterday w-was March 3, 1952." The girl paused before realizing something. She reached into the pocket of her light yellow sweater before pulling out the headline of a newspaper article that she had cut out. It was still in perfect condition and it read: 'March 2nd, 1952, Elsa Mars' freak show still running, despite being only one left in state.'
The blonde carefully handed him the piece of paper. "1952."
Deaton carefully took the newspaper and read the headline before looking at the date. He handed it back to her before pulling out his phone.
"I'm really sorry miss but, today is March 3rd in 2016" he said before showing her the date on his phone.
He then thought back to the newspaper clipping. "So you are special. Just not like it is here, unless you know what the Dread Doctors did to you" he says.
Ophelia's eyes had widened when she saw the iPhone. She had no clue what it was, but she decided that it was proof enough that she was in a different time. Not because of the date on it, but because of the new unheard of technology.
The girl was still confused, but she was slowly starting to trust the man standing before her. "You mean this?"
The girl's eyes then flashed night black before returning to their normal stormy grey. After her eyes went back to normal, the stung for a second, and the girl resisted the urge to rub them.
"Was that what they did? Do you get claws and sharp teeth too? Or has it always been just your eyes before you got here?" Deaton asked.
He also texted Scott, telling him that the situation with the girl was different and that he should come over as soon as he could.
"No claws, just teeth. And my eyes didn't do that before. I wasn't that much of a monster." Her voice was slightly accusing when she suddenly felt threatened. Was this man saying that she had been that much of a freak before. No. She wouldn't stand for that. She would not have another repeat of the first eleven years of her life.
"I'm sorry but, I didn't say you were a monster. So are the teeth new for you?" Deaton asked.
Scott had study hall when he saw Deaton's text. He ran out of the school and hopped on his motorcycle, driving straight to the clinic.
Ophelia didn't respond, in fact, she didn't say anything. She just gently rubbed her hand over her shoulder where she could still feel the scar from when she was nine.
The blonde looked at the doctor, trying to figure him out. He wasn't like anyone she had met before. Sure, he had accused her of being a monster, but he hadn't called her a freak or tried to hurt her. At least, not yet.
Scott came through the back door, walking into the room.
"What's going on?" He asked Deaton.
"Well, two things. One, her eyes change and two she's not of this time" Deaton explained.
Scott looked at the girl before looking back at Deaton, "So the Dread Doctors are time traveling now?" He asked.
"It seems that way." Deaton answered.
Scott walked closer to Ophelia, "Could you show me your eyes? Please?" He asked her gently.
The girl just shook her head no. She was done having these people look at her and judge her. She just wanted to find Elsa and go back home. It sounded strange, even to her, but she missed the freak-show. She missed the excitement when there was a full house, and she missed getting cheered on, rather than stared at or laughed at.
Scott sighed.
"I'll show you mine if you agree to show me yours" he offered.
He wanted to see what the Dread Doctors did to her and figured the only way she would talk would be to show that he's different too.
The blonde thought about it for a minute. She wasn't sure if the boy was lying simply so that he could prove that she was even more of a freak to everyone else or not. In the end, she decided that even if he was, she would find her 'family' and they would all protect each other.
She allowed her eyes to change color for a couple of seconds before changing back. The burning sensation returned with the change, and this time she did rub her eyes. It didn't really help.
"Wow. That's cool." Scott said.
He then closed his eyes and when he opened them, they were red. He looked at Ophelia with his red eyes before they changed back to his normal brown ones.
"So, what are you? If you don't mind me asking" he says to her.
"What am I?" Ophelia mumbles softly to herself. "I'm not sure..."
She didn't want to use what the church had called her- a demon. She didn't want to say that she was a monster like her family had said. "A freak."
"Is that what they've called you?" Scott asked.
"You aren't a freak Ophelia. Your special and extraordinary. One of a kind. I am too. I'm a true alpha. Meaning I earned my rank, not by killing another alpha werewolf" he explained.
"Freak is better than monster..." The girl muttered to herself, the scar on her shoulder itching again. No one had ever called her special or extraordinary though, and she found herself slowly starting to trust the alpha werewolf.
"If you're a freak, then I'm a monster" Scott said.
He then looked up at the clock, the rest of his pack will show up soon.
"My friends and I are going to see if we can find your friends. Will you be okay here with Deaton or would you like someone from my pack to stay with you?" He asked her.
Just then, Lydia came in.
"Hey, everyone is outside except for Stiles and Bella. They're telling the sheriff and Deputy Parrish about what's gone on" she tells the alpha.
Scott nodded his head then waved her out.
"I want to go with you to look," the blonde insisted, taking neither option that was offered to her, despite the fact that she never wanted to go back into those creepy woods where she had woken up ever again.
Scott nodded his head, "Alright, I'll introduce you to the pack then" he tells her.
He lead her out side where a group of teens stood.
"Ophelia meet, Lydia, Malia, Corey, Mason, Theo, Liam and Kira. Pack, meet Ophelia. She's coming with us to the preserve to help look for her friends" Scott introduced.
The pack said their greetings. Before walking to whichever vehicle they felt like riding in to get to the preserve, Lydia's car or Theo's truck.
"Do you want to ride with Lydia or Theo? Or would you like to ride with me on my motorcycle?" He asked Ophelia.
Ophelia's eyes widened as she saw all of the teenagers who were all about two years older than her.
At Scott's question, the girl pointed to the car. She had never seen a motorcycle before, and definitely didn't want to ride one. And the truck seemed a little too intimidating.
"Alright, c'mon" Scott said before walking up to Lydia.
"Ophelia's going to ride with you okay? I'll take Kira on my bike" he tells the strawberry blonde.
Lydia nodded her head, "Climb on in Ophelia" she tells the girl.
Scott got on his motorcycle, Kira sitting behind him. "When you get there, start searching then we'll meet up at Lookout Point" he tells the pack.
Everyone nodded their heads, Theo pulling away first followed by Lydia and Scott in the back. They headed for the preserve.
