Shiro's POV

"-My head's... still pretty scrambled... I was on.. an alien ship. I- Somehow I escaped. It's all a blur. How did you know to come save me when I crashed?" It was so weird to be on earth again. It almost felt... wrong... like I was forgetting something.

"You should come see this." Keith replied, leading me towards the shack that he lived in.

Inside were the three teenage boys from the garrison, and the young woman that I vaguely remembered. She was so familiar, yet I could barely recall her name. I think it was... Del? Yeah, Del. It was short for something, but I can't remember what. She's tall, probably five foot eleven, she has dark skin and white hair tucked into a messy bun, her poison green eyes glowing in the sunlight that streamed in from the windows. She turned towards me as Keith and I walked through the door. A small smile on her face as she sat on the floor. Keith kept walking, and I tore my eyes from the small group and towards the board that he pulled a sheet off of. It was a huge cork-board, covered in photos of caves and canyons, maps, star-charts, and even some newspaper clippings and post it notes. Pins with string connecting certain pieces covered the board.

"What have you been working on?" I asked, stunned by all of the information.

"I can't explain it exactly," Keith paused. "after gettting booted from the garrison I was kind of... lost, and found myself drawn out to this place. It's like something... some energy, was telling me to search."

"For what?"

"Well..." Keith began "I didn't really know at the time, until I stumbled across this area." He pointed at the map, where circles, and the words energy source, were written in what looked like black sharpie. "It's an outcropping of giant boulders with caves, covered in these ancient markings. Each tells a slightly different story about a blue lion. But they all share clues leading to some event. Some arrival happening last night, and then you showed up."

I turned to the garrison teens and Del, "I should thank you all for getting me out." I walked up to the one in the jacket from the 21st century. "Lance right" I offered him my robotic arm. He paused for a moment, and I didn't blame him. I wished I had offered him the other one, but it my dominant hand, and a habit. He smiled and took it though. I continued to offer it to the two that I didn't recognize.

The shorter kid started talking. "The nervous guy is Hunk, I'm Pidge." He let go of my hand. "So... did anyone else from your crew make it out?"

I tried to think about that, about Matt, and Captain Holt, but I drew only blanks and fuzzy images. "I'm not sure. I remember the mission, and getting captured, after that its.. just bits and pieces."

"That doesn't surprise me." Del interrupted from her spot on the floor. There was an empty couch three feet from her. Why was she on the floor.

"What do you mean?" I asked, suddenly confused.

"Well we came in really hard, you fell and hit your head on a corner. I guess it must have messed with your temporal lobe, and to compensate, the temporal lobe let go of all the memories you likely were desperate to forget." Del began to wave her arms around as she spoke. "The human brain is weird when it comes to traumatic memories. It doesn't surprise me that you forgot about most of your time off planet."

"-Sorry to interrupt" Hunk interrupted, "But can we get back to the aliens, where are they now, are they coming are they coming for all of us?!" He hunched over into what looked like a very painful position. "Like where are they at this very moment."

"I-I can't really put it together." I took a breath, trying to recall. "I- I remember the word Voltron. It's some kind of weapon their looking for, but... I dunno why. Whatever it is I think we need to find it before they do." I looked at Del, she nodded at me with a small smile before turning to Hunk, who had started talking.

"Well last night I was rummaging through Pidge's stuff and I found this picture." He pulled a picture out of Pidge's bag. "Look it's his girlfriend."

"Hey gimme that!" Pidge demanded, grabbing both the picture and his bag from hunk. "What were you doing in my stuff?"

"I- Well I was looking for a candy bar, but then I started reading his diary.-"

"WHAT!" Pidge exclaimed grabbing the small book from him

"-And I noticed that the repeating series of numbers the aliens are searching for looks a lot like a Fraunhofer line."

"Frown who?" Keith asked, looking a little bored.

"It's a number describing the emission spectrum of an element." Del supplied

"Yeah!" Hunk added "Only this element doesn't exist on Earth. I thought it might be this Voltron, and I think I can build a machine to look for it, like a Voltron Geiger counter."

"Hunk, you big gassy genius!" Lance added, impressed. I agreed with Lance on that part.

"It's pretty fascinating really, the wavelength looks like this" Hunk pulled out a piece of paper with what looked like a graph on it, only to have Keith snatch it from him.

"Gimme that." He held it up to his picture of the canyon that was above his map on the cork-board. It matched perfectly.

"I guess we're heading to that canyon." I decided. "Questions anyone?" I looked back at the four people behind me.

Del raised her hand like she was in class. "I have one." I nodded at her. "I've been gone for five years, so I am a little out of the loop, but I've just gotta know. Is the double pocket thing fashionable or are you all just really weird?" Everyone stared at her. "What? It's a genuine question."

I took a deep breath "Any questions related to Voltron." I asked, glaring at her, she only shrugged in response. When no one spoke up I turned to Hunk. "We'll head out when your machine is ready."

"That should be about this afternoon if it goes well." Hunk decided, counting something on his fingers.
