It had been a rough few days after I had been kicked out of my best friend's home. My home. I had grown up in a foster home and then Tasha's family had adopted me and everything had been perfect…until two days ago. Tasha and I had a falling out over a boy and things had gotten out of control; I had told her she was a possessive bitch and she had thrown my clothes out the window before kicking me out. I'd been banging on the door for hours before realising that she wouldn't let me in. Things had been taken too far and I had no home all over a bloody boy! I hadn't bothered to pick up my clothes when I left and the only highlight to the night was a small cat that had begged me for fuss. I pulled my hoodie further up my shoulders as cold air brushed along the back of my neck. It was coming up to September and the weather was gloomy and cold most days, the sun making an appearance once a week. I had managed to pick up my phone before I was thrown out and had asked everyone I knew for a place to stay for a few nights but no-one had the room. I didn't really mind as I knew it was really short notice and my friends weren't the richest people around. I checked my phone and groaned as I saw it was on its last bar of battery and decided I didn't want to spend the day alone, so I flicked through my contacts and smiled as the name I wanted came up. I clicked on Daniel's name and began to type.

Wanna hang out today? Don't fancy spending the day on my larry…still haven't found anywhere to stay x

A few minutes passed before my phone buzzed and the screen flashed with the reply.

What?! You can't live on the streets! Where are you? I'm coming.

I text him the street I was on and in no time he walking down the road towards me. I couldn't help but marvel at how beautiful he was; messy blonde hair and light grey eyes with a perfect body, standing a whole head taller than me. When he reached me he pulled me into a hug and I pulled my arms up over his back and placed my hands on his shoulders. He pulled away too fast for my liking but kept a hold on my hand.

"Please tell me you have some place to stay? You can't just live out on the streets…your mom and dad wouldn't want this" A small stabbing pain started in my chest at the mention of my adopted parents and I shook my head.

"Tasha threw my things out too. I'm officially homeless" Daniel squeezed my hand and I squeezed back.

"Come stay with me, I'll have to move a few things around…but we can make it work I promise" He looked so guilty it broke my heart and I smiled at him.

"No you don't have to do that I can take care of myself I'm a big girl" I winked at him and he looked conflicted.

"It's no trouble" I laughed and started walking in no particular direction, pulling him along with me.

"Shush. All I need is you to take my mind away from all this crap and I'll be happy" Daniel looked thoughtful as I realised we were walking to the local park. I walked faster and we arrived at one of my favourite spots; a large lake at the edge of the park with a large willow tree that bent over the water. Daniel sat on the grassy edge and I say between his legs with my back to him, his arms around my waist. I leaned into him and closed my eyes. I had a crush on Daniel ever since we had first met but after talking to Tasha about it I realised she liked him too. The argument a few nights ago had been about me 'stealing' him from her. I thought about his arms around my waist and I let a small smile appeared on my face; this moment was perfect and Tasha would not make me feel guilty over it.

I must of fallen asleep because all of a sudden I felt someone brush a strand of hair from my face and urge me to wake up. I yawned and stretched my arms out in front of me and realised I was on my back with my head in Daniel's lap. He was leaning over me slightly and his face was inches from mine. I smiled and he smiled back. I don't know what possessed me to do it but in that moment everything seemed to click into place, Daniel was with me at my favourite place and Tasha was nowhere near us to stop me. I lifted my head and out lips met. The kiss was soft and sweet and I lingered for a few seconds before pulling away. I panicked for a moment when Daniel didn't move and then I gasped. He rolled me over so I was on my back and he was hovering over me and then he was kissing me again and wow…it was amazing. It was hot and desperate and everything I had ever dreamt it would be. It felt like the kiss lasted forever and I never wanted it to stop but eventually we had to come up for air. We looked into each other's eyes, panting, and then we gave each other shy smiles. We kissed a few more times before I pushed him away so I could sit up. He laced his fingers through mine and I rested my head on his shoulder, both of us looking out across the lake. Things were starting to look up for me. I made a promise to myself at that moment that I wouldn't let anything take this boy away from me. I should have known better than to make promises I couldn't keep.

...

I had just transformed a slytherin girl's inkwell into a large rat when Professor McGonagall walked in. I quickly hid my wand away and pretended to write down notes as Snape droned on about the importance of not mixing ground unicorn hoof with porcupine quills when Fred elbowed me in the ribs. I turned to tell him off when he put a finger to his lips and nodded his head in Snape's direction. We both turned to the front of the class and noticed that everyone else was trying to listen in on Snape and McGonagall's conversation. She handed him a slip of parchment paper and his head snapped towards me and Fred. McGonagall walked over to us and I went over everything me and Fred had done today that could of gotten us into trouble. I could think of nothing that would make Dumbledore want to see us and the rat thing only just happened…unless she saw me do it. I curiously turned to Fred but he looked as nervous as I felt. When the professor reached our table she looked at our faces and cleared her throat.

"George Weasley you are excused from classes for the next few days. Please follow me and bring your belongings with you" She turned and walked out of the classroom and all eyes turned to me. Fred punched me hard in the arm and I put a hand to the sore area.

"What the hell was that for?!" I moaned. Fred glared at me pointed to the door.

"Why do you get to skip class and I don't? Unfair"

"I swear I didn't do anything…I'll fill you in at dinner?" Fred nodded as I gathered my things and left the class to find the professor waiting for me in the hall. With a flick of her wand my paper, quill, inkwell and books were gone and in their place was a backpack. I raised an eyebrow and looked inside to find normal clothes and a wallet with strange currency inside. I looked questioningly at the professor and she began walking, me following unsure of where we were going.

"Dumbledore has pulled you out of class for a very important assignment, Mr Weasley. I expect you to behave yourself and complete the task with no screw ups" I realised we were heading to Dumbledore's office and I began to sweat. It was no secret that the headmaster was building an army to fight the dark lord, maybe he needed my help with something? It would be amazing to be able to help destroy the bastard You-Know-who but in all honesty it frightened me. McGonagall mumbled the password that revealed the staircase and we ascended into the office. Dumbledore sat, quite happily, at his desk and grinned when he spotted us enter.

"Ah, Mr Weasley, you are well?" I nodded and looked around the office. Fred and I had been here quite often in our first year but it had been a good few years since I had returned.

"Yes sir and yourself?" Mother had always taught me to be polite and respect the people that deserved it, and Professor Dumbledore deserved it.

"Yes, yes I am in good health. I bet you are wondering why I have asked for you?" I nodded again and he motioned for me to take a seat opposite his desk. I sat and McGonagall stood beside me.

"I think I should begin right at the start. You are good friends with Mr Potter yes?"

"Yes sir"

"You are aware of how his parents died…of how Harry obtained his scar?"

"Yes sir but what has this got to do with me? Do you need me for your army?" Dumbledore paused for a moment before chuckling.

"No my boy you will know when the time comes for your assistance in the war, though I hope it will never be needed. No what I need you to do is something much more important" I leaned in, intrigued, and waited for him to carry on. When he saw I was interested he did.

"Harry was found in his crib the night his parents died and word spread quickly about the boy who lived. But no-one knew why Voldemort attacked the Potters that night" I flinched at the mention of You-Know-Who's name.

"I'm sorry sir but why are we discussing this?" He gave me an annoyed look.

"Because there are things about that night that no-one but me and a few other teachers know and now you must know them too" The look he gave me told me he didn't want to be interrupted again, so I closed my mouth and nodded for him to continue.

"Voldemort" Flinch "was gathering an army when he learnt of the Potters. He knew they were both strong magical folk and that their child would be gifted. When Lilly and James refused to serve the dark lord he attacked and vowed to either take the child or kill it" Dumbledore seemed to be struggling with his next words but I kept my mouth shut and waited.

"Harry was not the chosen one" I frowned and couldn't keep the question in.

"What? He's an only child of course he was the target" Dumbledore shook his head and he and McGonagall shared a look before he turned back to me.

"Harry was not the child Voldemort was after…it was his sister" My jaw dropped as I looked between the two professors and I laughed nervously.

"This is a joke right? A bit unbelievable I must say…" The two of them were staring at me and I felt the colour run from my face. If this were true then wouldn't Harry know? Shouldn't he know?

"This is no joke. Lilly and James Potter had a daughter one year older than Harry who is destined to be a very powerful witch. When her parents learnt of Voldemort's plan they sent her away to a muggle orphanage with only a card saying her name. They were preparing to run with Harry when Voldemort attacked" A grim look was set on Dumbledore's face. I couldn't believe this. Harry had a sister?

"I still don't understand why I'm here" McGonagall cleared her throat and Dumbledore motioned for her to continue. She stepped forward and folded her hands in front of her.

"We need you to accompany me to the muggle world to convince her to return with us to Hogwarts. With Voldemort's army growing the muggle world is no longer safe for her" My heart was beating fast and it suddenly made sense why I had been pulled out for a few days and why I was given a bag full of clothes. I gulped and scratched the back of my head.

"But why me? Why not Grainger or Harry himself?"

"Because you are closer to her age, you both being seventeen. You are also a trustworthy student and you can make people change their minds when you put yours to it" I smiled at the compliments one of the best wizards known was giving me and I took a deep breath.

"Ok…I'll do it…when do we start?" The professors shared another look and McGonagall placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Right now" And then we were gone.
