My Way
Frank Sinatra
The end was near.
Uther knew it as he stood there with his sword plunged into the body of the Gleeman, the traitor.
The funny thing was, Uther had no regrets. He wished he could have done a few things differently, but, as he fell back into Arthur's arms and looked up at his son, he knew he wouldn't have done anything else. He looked up at Arthur and felt such an overwhelming sense of pride in him, and in himself for having brought up a good man, one who would be a good and just king once Uther was gone.
Uther wasn't stupid- he knew that people called him the tyrant king, a fool, and a traitor to magic-kind whom he had once called friends.
But lying there, with his son begging for him not to die, Uther knew he'd done everything he could have done and in the best way that he knew how.
Yes, Uther took the blows, and did it his way.
