She wondered why she wasn't good enough for them.

It was a constant reminder.

She was so happy when the letter came, so happy to escape it all.

She met new people on the train, not yet tainted with Ian's arrogance and lies.

But not for long.

She absorbed herself in her schoolwork, striving with all her might to be top of the class.

Maybe if she was able to do this she would be able to gain her parent's love.

And so she told herself this.

Over and over and over.

She didn't care how hard it was, this was all that mattered.

Afterwards she thought how much those muggle Fates must've been laughing at her then.
