Description: Charlie's too sweet and innocent to be a black
sheep, right? Right?
"Please be nice to Charlie's roommate!" Margaret admonished.
Don sighed. A week of making nice to Charlie and his geeky roommate did not appeal.
However, he'd just dropped a bomb on his parents, and felt that he needed to make up for it. Sort of like cleaning the koi pond the week before Christmas.
Of course, Charlie never needed to make up for things, the goody two-shoes. The roommate would probably turn out to be just as inoffensive.
"So, what does this roommate of Charlie's do?" he asked.
"Math," Alan replied, earning some glares. "Seriously, he's been acting as Charlie's mentor."
"Why would Charlie need mentoring?" Don asked. "He's a genius, isn't he?"
"Well, this is more introducing Charlie around and making sure he has a social life," Margaret explained.
Now Don was impressed. "This roommate actually manages to drag Charlie away from his precious chalkboards? How? Does he own a tractor or something?"
"Very funny," Alan said.
Just then, the front door opened. "Um, hello?" Charlie sounded nervous. Probably wanted to make a good impression on his mentor.
The three of them went to meet Charlie's friend. Jaws dropped all around.
"Um, Mom, Dad, Don, This is Susan Berry."
