So… Holy frick-frack, I've been away for a while… but I AM BACK BABY! I know that many of you are following me for my other stories, but I happen to be stuck in a period of no inspiration. The only reason I am updating this one, is that it happens to be one of my favorite stories. If you are reading For The Love Of Merlin! I would like to tell you that the chapter is going smoothly, but the only reason I'm not uploading it yet would be because I want to work on the outline first, complete it, then start working on the chapters. The same goes for Good Teacher Teaching Bad Habits. The only exception is that one is NOT going smoothly at all and I'm going insane. It seems I forget how to write as soon as I open that document. The ideas are there, but they are simply not getting out. Like at all. The not so fun thing about writing fan fiction is that I only know a bit of the things that are happening. Other than that, all that I write is shit I make up as I go… which is why I want an outline first. Once I write an outline, you will realize that my chapters are going to be more interesting, and will not be filled with bullshit.
Sorry for the short chapter and for the fact that most of it is Dialogue, I just thought that this might be better than no update at all.
Lily has always been in the shadow of her successful family. Her dream life with Scorpius is being lived by her cousin, Rose. She feels lonely, unwanted, and useless. But on her 15th birthday she finds a diary, who happens to have a very tempting offer in exchange for something that only she can provide.
Chapter 2
Her hands were sweaty and sticky as she grabbed the quill, and scribbled a single word on the blank page before her. Deal. She watched the word fade into the yellowing parchment of the diary and waited until all of it had disappeared, knowing that even if it didn't seem like it right now, this had been one of the biggest mistakes she could ever make. Trading the peace and safety of the world for her foolish and selfish desire to be someone she could never be; Rose Weasley. A few seconds later, Tom's neat and loopy handwriting appeared, telling her that there was no way out of this now. Even if she told Tom that she didn't need his help, there will always be something in the back of her mind telling her that she DID need it. That she could not back out now, because it was her turn to be selfish and think of only herself. Why not? Rose would have done it in a heartbeat.
Thank you for your trust, my dear Lily. Trust me when I tell you that it will be completely worth it. But it will all come with a heavy price, which I am sure will be nothing in exchange of what I am willing to give you to succeed in getting what will truly make you happy.
What kind of price?
I need you to help me by completing a ritual that will free me from this object.
Ha, like a genie in a bottle? I get three wishes if I free you from the diary?
Something similar. Except I am no genie and I cannot grant wishes. I do know a lot about many things that could help you accomplish what you wish. I could give you numerous helpful advices that I am sure your parents would never give you. I could help you get to greater places, get the things you never dreamt you would ever have, and have the person who you want by your side.
How do I know that you are not trying to trick me to try to take over the world like the crazy sociopath that you were when you where alive?
Why would I do that?
Why wouldn't you? You tried to do it more than once already. What will stop you from trying again?
Well, well, well… Aren't we an inquisitive little mouse? But I understand your concern. I won't try to convince you that I'm not going to try and take over the world again, because begging people for their help is not necessarily my field of experience. But I will tell you this, that if you do help me, the rewards will be never ending.
Lily blinked and examined the words again. What would the consequences of her actions be? What could he possibly want from her, which could help him at all? He was nothing but a memory stuck inside an old diary, there was nothing to be afraid of. Besides, if worse came to worse, all she had to do was stab the diary with some basilisk venom and bye-bye Thomas Riddle. There was no way that this could go wrong. All she had to do was get what she needed from him, then make sure he didn't live to tell the tale. Fool's proof plan, really.
Fine. But you have to help me first and no funny business. Or else I will tell my parents about you, and we both know what will happen if I tell them.
We have a deal then. Such a cautious little girl, I bet you are in Slytherin; such cunning rarely fits in other houses without being frowned upon.
Oh boy, you are wrong Mr. Riddle, I'm a Ravenclaw. My brother Albus is the one in Slytherin. But that is irrelevant. I need you to tell me how you are going to help me get what I want.
Then why don't you tell me what is it that you really want.
I want Scorpius Malfoy to fall in love with me.
Do not lie to me. I am sure that you don't only want to gain the affections of some boy. If you wanted to get male attention you would have brewed a potion that could aid you on it. No, you are after something bigger than the mere affection of some hormone influenced dunderhead. What is it that you really want Lily? I will give you time to think, and consider your options. I will be waiting.
Lily watched the letters disappear into the old parchment of the diary then turned to watch the golden rays of sun starting to illuminate the sky. Yes, she did want Scorpius, but was that all she wanted? He was right, if she only wanted him, she could have just brewed a light dose of love potion or something similar to help her cause. It could have been extremely easy to make him love her, but that was exactly the problem. She didn't want to force him into loving her; she wanted him to fall in love with her on his own. But how? I mean, it would be way easier now that Rosie Dearest was out of the picture. All she had to do now was lose weight, get prettier, have more friends, forget about her social anxiety… Yeah, all she had to do was turn into Rose. Which would never happen if she tried on her own. Unless Tom helps.
She picked up the diary and opened it, hoping that Tom would not have gone to sleep or rest or do whatever the hell souls did in trapped objects.
I have an answer already.
Oh, do you?
Yes!
Do tell me.
I want to be Rose Weasley.
Care to enlighten me, who is she?
My cousin, she is the epitome of perfection. I want to be her. Can you help me or not?
Of course I can! The only thing is that I don't know what she looks like or anything about her. You need to give up some of you to me, a little blood will do the trick, in order for me to get some of your memories and see what I can do to help. Are you willing to do that?
Yes, just tell me what to do already!
I need you to write a few runes and your signature on the diary.
How will that help?
It will allow me to see the things that you have seen, to know the people that you have known, to live the life you have lived and will live. I will use it to observe those in your life and see who will be… useful for our cause. It will be as if I was with you at all times, talking to you. I will be giving you advice at all times, except when you are sleeping and unconscious.
Will you be able to interact with others?
No, only you can hear, see, and feel me. no one else but you will be aware of my presence.
Okay, I'm in. show me the runes, that way I can write them down.
Well, it can't be done with regular ink or with a regular quill.
Why not? Do I need a certain ink color? A potion?
No, it won't be all that hard to find this quill. Most people use it when they are making magical contracts and such… I'm sure there is one in your house. Almost every magical household has one.
What kind of quill is it?
It's a blood-quill.
You had to have it all,
Well have you had enough?
You greedy little bastard,
You will get what you deserve.
When all is said and done,
I will be the one to leave you in the misery and
hate what you've become.
