The goblin army was relentless. They came in wave after wave slowly eroding the front of the Dwarven resistance, like water on rock. Dain continued battling on the front line, and had become isolated from the others. There was little chance of them holding out for reinforcements, which meant they had to sacrifice themselves and push out to attempt to block the door once more.

"Push forward!" yelled Dain."Flank them! To the outer corridors!"

At this, the men and Dwarves at the back of the resisting army pulled out into the corridors which branched off either side of the citadel. The others stood their ground and continued to fight with their all. Anything less would have seen them destroyed.

To the horror of those who had branched off of the main resisting force, the outer corridors had been occupied by warg riders and the Nazgul who had dropped onto their horses. The wargs were skewered on the Dwarves pikes, and one corridor was easily cleared of Darkness. The Nazgul, however, were crushing anything and anyone who stood in their way. Blood covered the walls of the corridor, and the Ringwraiths were able to advance behind the lines of Dain and his men.
