Harry walked down platform 9, pushing the trunk in front of him. Hagrid had told him that all he had to do was walk onto the platform, from platform 9. He looked at the egg that was in his pocket. It had only been a day since he had got the egg, but it seemed to have changed color a little over night. He walked his way down the platform hoping that someone would show him how to get into the platform. As he walked past a wall nearing the end of the platform a tingle went across the back of his neck. Looking around there was nothing surrounding him. He walked up and down the platform looking for some kind of a door when he noticed something odd. I young girl was walking strait towards a wall between platform nine and ten. Just as Harry was about to hell out she was gone?

She had should hit the wall in almost a dead run but she disappeared right before his eyes. He walked up to see to older figures walking towards the wall, and walking through it without even batting an eye. He walked up to the wall and placed his hand over the spot where the people had vanished from. A tingling went across his hand as he pushed it up against the wall, and his hand went through. He looked around and decided that he may as well look what is on the other side of the wall. Pulling his cart around him, he pushed it through the wall.

Harry was looking over a crimson locomotive. Sitting there with smoke bellowing out of the chimney stack. The noise surrounding him was all encompassing hundreds of people all talking and crying. He walked through the crowed, face towards the ground, trying to have people not recognize him. He knew he was famous, Hagrid had told him the story about what had happened that night. To his mind though it as a sad reason to be famous, and would have much preferred to not have the reason. He found his way to an empty compartment and started to read. Soon it was time for the train to be underway and as it started its trip he did not even look up from his book.

He pulled the book up to cover his face aft r he noticed more and more people looking through the glass panels. Though it was not until hours later when someone built up the courage to open the door. "Have you seen a toad? A boy named Nevil has lost one." Harry looked up from the book into the face with a mop of bushy brown hair and chocolate eyes. "You do know it is impolite to just come in with out knocking but I shall forgive you this time." He stared at her, Now where had he seen her before? "Sorry, I'm Hermione, Hermione Granger and who may I ask are you?" "I'm Harry, Harry potter, and no I have not seen the toad. "Harry Potter! Are you THE Harry Potter?" An excited look covering her face." "Well I may not be THE Harry Potter, but I am most defiantly a Harry Potter. Does it matter?" "Well I have read about you in 'Modern Dark loads and their Downfalls" Harry looked into her eyes "Well it wasn't me. It was most likely my mother who saved me. It has to have been."

Hermione looked astounded that some one would so easily disregard a book. Baffled Hermione stuttered "Ok then, So have you seen the toad, its name it Trevor." " No but I am willing to help you look for it. He placed the book down on the seat. As the two walked up and down the train, they chattered amicably about the first year books. 'Knock, knock, knock'. "Enter" the blonde haired boy called out. Harry slid open the door, " Excuse me, my name in Harry and I'm looking for a toad called Trevor. By any chance have you see it?" The blonde boy just looked at him disgusted. "Why would I Draco Malfoy look for a Toad?" He then gestured toward the door, and the small troll of a human got up and slammed the door in Harry's face. Turing to Hermione as she was coming back from the next cabin over. "So Harry did you find Trevor?" "No but I found some extremely rude people." They walked back to Harry's cabin, "well Harry, you better get changed we should be turning up soon." Hermione left leaving Harry once again alone in his cabin.

"First years over hear please" Hagrind boomed over the hubbub. Harry wandered through the crowd to the giant of a man, "Hello Hagrid!" "Hello Harry, How was the trip?" "Well Hagrid, it was interesting. "Well that is good, First years over hear please." Hagrid turned and walked down a small winding path towards what looked like a black mirror. He shared a small boat with Hermione, a boy with brown eyes and dirty blonde hair, and a girl with black hair and crystal blue eyes. The boat slowly drifted away from the shore towards the end of an outcropping of stone. the stone slowly sunk into the water leaving a castle upon a rocky outcrop. Its turret breaking up the night sky and filing it with dazzling lights from each of the windows. They continued to slide across the black glass of a lake, until they reached an ivy curtain hiding a small rock platform from view. The small boats stopped at the edge of the rock outcropping, "Trevor!" The boy who he shared the boat with ran of to the side coming back a moment later with his hands clutched around a toad. "If you are quite done." the voice from the shadows, which soon expelled a tall stern looking woman dressed of robes of blood red, square glasses sitting on the tip of a pointed noise. "This way please." She turned and walked up the stares." The boy looked embarrassed but followed the woman.

They followed the steps up to a set of wooded doors, "Now every body, you will be sorted into one of four houses, they are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. That house will be like you family for the rest of the time that you are at this school. Your successes will win you point and rule breaking will loose you house points. The house with the most points at the end of the year will win the house cup. Now after we go in, I will call you name out and you will come up to be sorted." She turned around and touched the doors. The room beyond was massive, with four long tables lined with chairs and one raises tabled where sat what appeared to be a throne. Walking through the door they saw the roof looked like the night sky, with candles floating around giving just enough light to see by. They walked down the center of the room towards a old and battered looking hat, which was perched on a stool. When a tear near the brim opened up and the hat began to sing.

When the founders four with me built this school

There was no such a divide of people, as we were not a fool

Now the school was not just built for humans

All of the people were told to teach

Not to judge and not to preach

For it was not just humans that resided here, but Elves and Goblins as well

We did not have one, none truly of another race

But that has changed with addition of another face

So put me on! Don't be afraid!

And don't get in a flap!

You're in safe hands (though I have none)

For I'm the sorting Hat

A shocked silence ran through out the hall as the last words of the Sorting Hat died away. Only two people were left with any sort of expression, a very small professor who had a grin that was trying to split his face in half and the old wizened man who sat on the golden chair. The sorting which quickly with people being place in a house very quickly, apart form the odd few. Thought s all things must it was soon time for his name. "Harry Potter!" His name range out across the hall and all of the people sitting started to brake into whispered conversation. Harry walked up to the stool and sat down and place the sorting hat on his head. "Well hello there Mr. Potter, I hope you enjoyed my song. Now where shall I place you. Brave I see, but you are also cunning, and have a desire for knowledge... Well it better be..."
