Chapter 1
It was Friday when I first saw him.
I was walking home after school with a backpack filled with books to study for the final exam when I saw a man. A man I could have passed off as ordinary and moved on but what made me notice him was that he was cosplaying as person from Harry Potter, was holding a strange round ball and had an amazed look on his face as he looked around.
At first I thought he was a simple tourist from an impoverished country and was amazed by the Georgian buildings that lined the street but judging from the clothes I saw as I neared him it looked quite fancy, not that I'm expert at clothing. Another thought was that he must have been an escaped patient who suffered from a concussion in a convention and woke up thinking he was in a different world. Such imaginations and thoughts of possibilities would get me in trouble at school except my art teacher. As art requires imagination from time to time. I was so deep in my thoughts that I failed to notice that he was in front of me.
"Excuse me" he said, his thick British accent bringing me back from my developed musings of a deranged patient from an asylum.
"Yes?" I asked offering a polite smile feeling sure he was an ordinary old man.
"Are you a muggle well versed in the world of witchcraft and wizardry as well as what is to come?"
That question surprised me.
'Maybe he is a deranged patient' whispered one side of my brain 'or there's a hidden camera looking' said the other. I paused thinking on how to reply to the man who looks as if my answer could change the world itself. So I went with the second choice, the hidden camera.
"A muggle? Is this a Harry Potter joke?" I asked chuckling. The man then beamed at my answer.
"Good, good I'm in the right place" he said with joy "You're the one I'm looking for!"
I got more curious as he continued babbling on how he was in a right place. Suddenly he stopped in his jubilance to face me and placed his hand out for a handshake.
"Diggory Mckenzie at your service"
I smiled at his friendliness and shook his hand yet unsure as to where this conversation was leading. He seemed to be an ordinary man that likes to dress up yet he does not, there's a feeling that he isn't quiet what he is. What he is I wasn't so sure yet but I had a feeling I would. I was about to say my name when he waved it away claiming to know it already and when I voiced my disbelief he sprouted out practically my life story including the ones I told no one ever.
I stood shocked as he began to walk away, with a spring on his step, heading to a park a few meters down the street. I shook out of my bewilderedness and followed him, wanting answers to my questions.
"Wait!" I called out to him
He stopped to look over his shoulder and then proceeded to sit on a bench.
"Wait!" I called out again this time standing in front of him "How do you know all that?"
"Do you know what this is?" he asked deflecting from my question and holding up a strange round object he was holding earlier,
"You can't ask a question without answering mine yet!"
"As a muggle in your world once said 'An eye for an eye' so here the concept applies as well" he replied with a grin
I frowned but conceded to the request. So I looked at the ball he held in his outstretched hand.
It was small, a size of a marble and the colouring was turquoise with swirls in it. I wasn't sure if I was hallucinating or not but I was sure it was moving. The marble was held by a smaller podium that held it up and a small white tag with faded lettering was attached to it.
"A doll sized medium ball?" I asked
"No"
"It is! Why wouldn't it be? Anyway I answered your question so answer mine, after all 'A tooth for a tooth'" I said with a small smirk.
Diggory shook his head with a grin "I look forward to what house your sorted in into but to answer your question it is because I'm a Seer that made this prophecy concerning you and my world" he said with an easy grin.
"What do you mean your world?" I asked now convinced he was senile.
"I'm not senile you know. I didn't waste Galleons to buy some of the liquid Flamel created to become senile, my mind is still healthy" he must have seen the questioning look on my face and added "before you ask magic"
Magic? No such thing in this world but looking at the old man made me think otherwise.
"If I were to believe you then what has this got to do with me? this prophecy?" I asked slowly,
"Well you'd be setting the course to it's rightful path but you must do it without changing the real story or else it'll affect both of our worlds."
Story? Again I felt as if this conversation was surreal. That it was fabricated plot my friends did for the time I pranked them, if it this was a prank it was a really good one. However part of me wanted this to be real as if something extraordinary is going to pull me away from my repetitive ordinary life. Diggory just sat there soaking in the afternoon sun waiting for me to form the pieces together and say something.
Eventually it dawned on me and sat down beside him in surprise. He looked at me with a knowing look.
"Are you kidding me? the world of Harry Potter!?"
"Brilliant you could be sorted in Ravenclaw! I was part of the house back in...I don't know.. its been a long time"
"Are you serious? if this is a joke it's a very good joke but this has gotten too far and I'm leaving! I'm don't want to be called stupid for believing this" I nearly shouted angrily as I got off the bench. Maybe I should have listened to my parents when they said my daydreaming and imaginations would bite me back. However he stopped me by saying,
"Afraid to believe in this? Afraid to accept the possibility that my world is real? I'm a Seer and I've watched you growing up, waiting for the day when the prophecy begins. I know you want to do this, you just have to take a leap of faith."
Silence fell between us as I made no move to leave. My mind torn between accepting or rejecting such idea. Then I broke the silence,
"Prove it" I whispered and realising that he wouldn't have heard it I turned to face him and declared "Prove it"
Diggory casually shrugged and took out a stick from his coat pocket "If seeing is believing then it shall do the trick"
He raised his wand and soundlessly summoned a lion from his wand. By then I fainted.
Sorry if this chapter turns out to be wrong but it's late and just came back from party. Will edit when doing the next chapter.
